Why the FUCK is his power armor broken? The Badab War was 100 years ago. This dude leads a legion-sized band of space marine pirates and is one of the wealthiest and most powerful space marine lords in the setting, on par with chapter masters of the first founding chapters.

WHY THE FUCK WOULD SOMEONE NOT HAVE FIXED HIS POWER ARMOR. Does GW even know their own fucking setting anymore?

Abaddon is on 60mm. Huron will be on 40mm like the generic lord.
If his base was 60mm he would be gigantic, picrel.
>>
>>97254865
Wonder how long it takes for the size creep to catch up to Abaddon have him to start looking small despite being in terminator armor.
>>
>>97256479
the current loyalist terminators are already way bulkier than him and characters like Logan Grimnar are basically the same height
>>
>>97256479
Everyone talks about size creep in regards to marines but not towards any other factions. Generic warbosses look like nobs at best now and even the new Mega-Armored Warboss isn't even appreciably bigger than the ancient MANz sculpts. Kinda wild that the race whose whole shtick is size-based heirarchy hasn't seen much growth.
>>
>>97258372

It's Orks. GW once went almost a decade without giving them any new models or a codex. Seems they're not keen on a faction where it's entirely acceptable to kitbash all of their vehicles.

The DM reveals that all this time, the 'Chaotic Evil invading soldiers' you've been fighting and slaughtering were actually Lawful Good innocent untrained peasants. They were tricked/convinced into believing they were fighting for survival and defense of their impoverished homeland.

THE PALADIN FALLS AND LOSES ALL POWERS!!!

Duet is probably my favorite Trek episode across all the shows. Sure, there are iconic episodes of TOS, TNG, and even VOY that are probably more important to the franchise, but god damn does Duet really pull everything off.

The joke in my friend group is that DS9 is a constant pendulum between Kira episodes, examining whether she herself committed war crimes and bringing complexity and nuance to the old question of freedom fighter versus terrorist, and Quark episodes, examining whether it is ethical to kill billions of people in order to get a shiny nickel.

A lot of the modelling discussion I see around Mordheim involves encouraging the most yourdudes and individuality and customisability as possible, whilst all discussion involving playing the game discourages taking any armour, shields, helmets, and most weapon options on your dudes at all, entirely discouraging anything except "play with as little equipment as possible to cheese wyrdstone/gold/exp after a game"

Why is this?
>>
>>97258145
1. GW rules are bad
2. Minmaxing and cheesy strategies work... once, after which nobody wants to play with you again.
Mordheim is basically "Gentleman's Agreement: The Game".
>>
>>97258145
You should take that as a guideline more than obligation. You can build however you like, but with the knowledge about the expected performance of your list.

No not all leather armor has plates in it, Hoplite armor for people of average means was plated cotton or shaped leather made by their mom.

Only the wealthy could afford metal inserts. Not everything was the 1400s

>>
>>97258324
It's Gygax's misinterpretation of brigandine, perchance.
>>
>>97256999
If it was just the name then DnD would describe studded leather as metal plates riveted to an outer leather shell. But instead it simply says it's leather reinforced with rivets. So no, he meant studded leather, because that's what the sources he had was talking about, it's just that the idea of studded leather originally came form people severely misunderstanding brigandine.

>>97258324
There is actual leather armour to be found. Buff leather coats and pants were a big thing in the early modern period, hardened leather pieces earlier on, leather lamellar over in China... But not the "leather plate" LARP suits, no, and any functional "studded leather" would indeed have metal plates on the inside.

It definitely didn't start there, but Disgaea is definitely a "demons aren't inherently evil" series. Though that's mainly because it's a further extension of their ongoing parody of fantasy rpgs that makes you the evil conquering demon overlord and not the hero. And there, the demons are either just regular joes trying to get through their day of patrolling land chunks and violently murdering intruders, or act like the height of evil is being rude to people and not washing their hands in the bathroom.

The Ottomans were infamously bad at their jobs.
>The Caliphate attains many, hell maybe even most of their administrators from captive boys. The slave trade is widespread in the Empire, with subjugated countries forced to give up boys as a part of a tithe. The bigger, stronger ones are sent to the Janissaries, a holdover from the Mamluk's mythical past. But the comelier boys are sent to the palace where they're trained to be courtiers and they're subjected to great abuse at the hands of their teachers who make them forget their native language before sending them through a rigorous curriculum.
>Janissary training is hard, but you'd much rather have that than be subjected to the horrendous abuse, social bullshit, and vaguely homoerotic nature of the courtier's servant. The teachers are bad enough, but the older boys are somehow even worse. Extracting 'favors' from you with the vague promise of networking that never seems to come. After you finish your training, whenever that might be, you get assigned to a Sultan or some courtier. And it turns out, putting abused, broken men flashing back to having to wash Ali's disgusting back with mold on it every five minutes is a horrible idea.

GURPS is a modular, adaptable system, capable of running a wide range of characters, settings, and play styles, with a level of detail varying from lightweight to completely autistic.
Optional rules allow you to emulate different genres with a single system, or even switch genres within a single game.

A nearly complete archive of GURPS books can be found by using the image. Never post direct links to the archive anywhere in plain text.

If you're wondering where to start:
- The Basic Set covers everything, including a lot of optional rules you probably won't use.
- A genre guide can be found in the archive, under Unofficial/GURPSgen. It tells you what extra books and articles you may find useful for many common genres.
- How To Be a GURPS GM is a good read even for players.
- GCS (gurpscharactersheet.com) is an excellent character-builder software, with page references to all the books and the option to export to both Foundry and Fantasy Grounds.

Thread question: How often do you use an official GURPS setting? Which are your favorites?

If anything the skills should be lower for melee, consider that you're intrinsically using Guns skill against hefty penalties and they're still no higher than that
>>
>>97258000
Rank-and-file soldier = skill 12
Elite soldier = skill 15
The realistic templates for noble warriors in GURPS Crusades have skill 15. The ones for commoner warriors in GURPS Warriors have skill 12 or 15.
>>
>>97257762
Against an opponent of roughly equal skill, your odds of hitting with a melee attack are usually in the 25-50% range regardless of what skill level you have, because defences rise along with attack skill and the best attack option is usually to lower your effective skill to about 11-12 with a deceptive attack. For landing blows to the face or neck, the 'optimal' skill level against an opponent of equal skill seems to be about 15.
In a boxing match you would generally expect that 20-30% of punches would 'land'. This is roughly consistent with GURPS moderately skilled (12-15) fighters making a mixture of deceptive attacks, dual 'weapon' attacks, and targeted attacks to the face, arms, or vitals along with extensive use of retreats, evaluates, and defensive attacks.
>>
>>97258000
>you can't tell me an experienced mercenary or knight doesn't have a 100% hit chance (barring critical/automatic fails) against an opponent provided he's just trying to strike him
Against a completely unresisting target, when he can use all-out-attack determined and telegraphic attack, virtually anyone (skill 8 or better) can reliably (98%+) land strikes against something the size of a human torso and a skilled (12+) fighter can do it two or even three times a second. Against a moving target which is actively defending, while you have to defend yourself, performance drops dramatically and failure to connect becomes quite common even after slowing attacks to once every couple of seconds as you use feints and evaluates to increase your odds of success.
Sports fighters might 'land' maybe one blow every 5-10 seconds and they are highly skilled, usually only trying to connect lightly, and not fearing for their lives!

Can I get a QRD on how patron, duty, and rank work?
Like say you are a detective a generic police department. In my head, this means that while on duty, you have access to: a gun, a badge, and a car, and you also have to investigate what your boss tells you to investigate.

What combination of patron, duty and rank would give this in GURPS?
