Why the fuck would you play OSR? Every edition is an improvement on the previous--that's why they make new editions, to refine and better their content. Is it just nostalgia? Are they mentally impaired or senile? What the fuck is wrong with OSR "fans"?
>>97339253Comically incorrect
>>97339266A very good question. Why haven't you played in any games? You seem to be operating under multiple erroneous assumptions about the way games are played and run that would be corrected if you actually played anything.

CofD discussion ends and shitflinging immediately starts.
>>97343624I have a feeling your definition of "internal cammie politics" is going to be so broad that effectively everything that isn't cross-splat falls under it, but1: You, or someone else in the coterie broke the Masquerade and now there's a mortal that knows what you are. How will you deal with that?2: An independent ghoul has set his/her sights on you/someone in your coterie.3: One night while feeding, you find a mortal that is immune to the kiss. What do?4: Another vampire you know has become obsessed with the idea of becoming human again, and they keep trying to rope the coterie into their latest experiment in regaining their lost humanity.5: You come across a young vampire, hiding out on the outskirts of town, that possesses a discipline that neither you, nor anyone you know, has ever seen before.6: You're at one of your nightly haunts. Maybe you're looking for some blood, maybe you're just trying to enjoy a night on the town. But you see someone you knew in life. Someone you were very close with. What do you do?7: Hunting down long-lost vampire lore8: Basically any mundane crime you can think of is on the table for a vampire game9: An ancient, traveling elder stops in your coterie's domain. They have seen much of human history with their own eyes. Are you able to coax that information out of them? Or must you suffer an immensely powerful and immensely entitled house guest?10: Your ghoul has become pensive and withdrawn. Has the blood bond somehow begun to wane? Or have they simply become more jaded to their situation? There 10 plot hooks/"things that you can do" that have nothing to do with internal politics, and I didn't even bother to mention the cheap shots of 11: Killing Setite goonsComment too long. >>97341934Thank you!>>97342787>>97343245I think the twist will be that the snarl doesn't technically kill. Instead, it just stores its victims and worlds inside of its infinite tangle, preserving them for eternity. So my theory is that the story will end with the snarl being unraveled, and all the worlds it took being restored. (Effectively) unlimited worlds, enough space for everybody. IMO this will tie into the MitD too but that's a separate thing
>>97343598Correct>>97343669Okay, I agree that was one of the few gags that I got a chuckle at. Along with Elan stabbing himself with his own weapon trying to figure out how to hold it.

Welcome to /wbg/, the official thread for the discussion of in-progress settings for traditional games. Here is where you go to present and develop the details of your worlds such as lore, factions, magic and ecosystems. You can also post maps for your settings, as well as any relevant art (either created by you or used as inspiration for your work). Please remember that dialogue is what keeps the thread alive, so don't be afraid of giving someone feedback or post whatever relevant input you might have!Last thread: >>97165346Resources for Newfags: https://sites.google.com/view/wbgeneral/Worldbuilding links: https://pastebin.com/JNnj79S5 (embed) (embed)https://cryptpad.fr/pad/#/2/pad/view/Eo+fK41FKVR7xDpbNO0a0N4k0YYxrmyrhX3VxnM14Ew/Fantasy map generator: https://watabou.itch.io/medieval-fantasy-city-generator/wbi/: https://discord.gg/6ZjEc7dy4TWorldbuilding Hub: https://discord.com/invite/wGjxK3YThe Writer's Forge: https://discord.com/invite/CUxHxWqTira: https://discord.com/invite/f52W6KgComment too long. >>97333455>>97336630You doing illustrations of different weapons and soldiers in your setting has inspired me to do the same, even though I mostly focus on space stuff, though I don't do it very often (This is the latest one I did, after someone asked me to complete a set of similar pictures for all the main factions of the setting).

>>97343614AD&D 2e's World Builder's Guidebook is very useful for fantasy settings. Diku (https://topps.diku.dk/torbenm/maps.msp) is good for planetary maps. For future history/science fiction stuff, I've found far fewer sources. GURPS Space 4e has a detailed alien generator, which I turned into a Python program here: https://www.online-python.com/FcrCEyQbiw . Throne of Salt has some good tables for planet generation, particularly this one: https://throneofsalt.blogspot.com/2019/10/mothership-planet-generation.html . Sectors Without Number does the same using SWN's tables: https://sectorswithoutnumber.com/ . Traveller has lots of tables too, and this looks to be a web version of them: https://srd-tools.com/sector.html
Could it work in a /tg/ context? Say you used the Damaging Objects rules from the d20 System.
>>97343823People are fairly consistent in their closed-mindedness on adapting mechanics from video games to tabletop, but I think there's some validity in trying; at least, for the sake of some of the more simple ones.I'm not saying go as far as calculations to the degree of Pokémon's damage formula, but systems like Fire Emblem or even Morrowind could be adapted to tabletop wholesale; both being essentially D% systems.I have no experience with Red Faction specifically, but I recommend looking into statistics (especially probability theory) to see if anything can be carried over.
If your campaign involved blowing up buildings frequently enough that you can't just GM handwave it, then determining "Hitpoints" for buildings based on material, construction quality and such is perfectly doable. But it adds another level of autism to the crunch, and lots of games are complex enough already.Battletech had building destruction rules in Total Warfare, but they are fairly simple and abstracted so as to not bloat the already fairly crunchy mech fight centric ruleset.
I need a new GOOD fantasy race to base a campaign region around.

The model's silhouette is all kinds of fucked up because it was a spur of the moment conversion (for lack of a better word), I had to use greenstuff to make a saddle so the chaos renegade would fit and I still had to bend his legs a lot. There are a lot of examples of knights being implemented into a sci-fi future setting (Warhammer 40k, Battletech, Dune), but are there any examples of medieval societies with modern-esque professional soldiers?

Let's say, hypothetically, someone, not me, were to have, allegedly, altered the atomic structure of Warp Stone. Now let's say, HYPOTHETICALLY, it caused a cascade effect that resulted in all Warp Stone in existence being altered the same way. Now, this Warp Stone might, MIGHT, have a 99.9% chance of altering the behavior of Skaven exposed to it to experience a complete reversal of their usual traits, mannerisms, behaviors, personalities, and such. Now it might, POSSIBLY, make them 100% aware that they are altered and unable to stop their new behaviors no matter how hard their inner thoughts are screaming at them to stop.In the event this completely hypothetical situation occurs, what kind of repercussions might one expect from being the cause of such an event?

He knows there is no agriculture, cannibalism is now forbidden, raiding is now forbidden, he owns nothing he can use to trade with, and that there are better rats than himself that deserve priority in what stockpiles of non-rat jerky the skaven keep. Best he can do is find a cliff overlooking a pit of feces that may be used as fertilizer in the future, and jump. Its not because they are being rash but because rational thinking would quickly conclude the situation to be bleak and that self sacrifice is the best he can do to assure the collectives survival.
>>97343696This. The inverse of normal Skaven behaviour would be self-sacrifice for collective gain. Honestly, the Skaven might be more likely to take over the world now that they're into peace and love and carefully raising their offspring to ensure optimal development.
