Prostitution is the oldest profession. It has always existed and it will always exist. The presence of prostitutes and brothels is crucial for making a game setting and world feel realistic and lived in. Otherwise, it will lack all verisimilitude. So, tell us, how have you incorporated prostitution into your game?
>>97811913Player characters are also well poised to offer that kind of service for supplementary income.>PCs are often race unusual for the region, that factor alone makes them in demand even with average looks>PCs are usually powerful enough to deal with troublesome clients all by themselves.>PCs usually don't linger in one place long enough to draw ire from people running local business on whose income their might trespass>PCs should be already well equpipped to deal with minor injuries, disease, or any such negative consequence sustained in the process. And general thrill-seeking nature of adventuring has implicit overlap with thrill-seeking nature of sleeping around. >>97815556Yeah, imagine the players being able to affect things in the world by making decisions. Imagine if the game was different from every formulaic boring trash novel you've ever read, and you couldn't predict events in advance, so your mind was actually engaged. Awful.
>>97815397How?I know you said they "took a shortcut through random encounter forest to reach her before her main attack squad was back, and then convinced her personal guards to defect" and "it was a whole thing", but how? What are their classes? What tools did they use? What measures did the hag take to protect her life in the event her initial contingency was bypassed?Did you even know what the party was capable of at that point?Did the party hide her scrying eye in a stupid dark cave?Did the party kill one of her sisters, so she couldn't manifest her most powerful spells?
>>97817485lol you think this actually happened
>>97817496I don't think I'll get an earnest answer.
>>97817472I mean there are games that do lends themselves to theatrics because they somewhat enforce them through rules (for example in Hero you can "attack" with presence), i would assume you can use some optional rule (like some advanced fright check from some horror splat) even in d&d but as is there's nothing enforcing the pc to simply sitting there listening to the bbeg monologuing.

Any suggestions for systems built for urban fantasy settings? I know there's World of Darkness but I'm looking for something that is more combat focused and less story telling. Monster of the Week has been suggested to me but I'm just not a big fan of PBTA, the systems just don't feel like a game to me as bullshit as that sounds.
>>97815373Savage Worlds with the Horror Companion.-or-Eden Studios Buffy and Angel games.
Hate to say it, but pic related is probably your best bet if you want something that is combat focused. It's just a shame that it's by Tom Lancer.
>>97815373MotW is alright if you want to run something looser, but combat is rule of cool and lots of handwaving. You could do an alright Hellboy-style campaign with it, but you only get back what you put into a pbta system, meaning if you aren't feeling it, you won't have a good time.Unknown Armies is more about fucked up magic and Delta Green is more about being off-the-books agents killing Lovecraft monsters. It's actually pretty hard to find some urban fantasy games that aren't also pbta though. You might have to grab a generic system like Basic Roleplay (same system used by CoC and Delta Green) and fashion something to your liking.>>97816551It's not good at any of the things that OP requested, though.
>>97815373Call of Cthulhu using the Pulp expansion could work. Characters are much more competent and survivable, and able to do more fantastic things, and there are rules for playing psychics or mystics.
>>97816551>Tom LancerIs that a short of Tom Bloom, the woke cancer and author of Lancer?
Is there ANY miniature wargame that isn't insanely expensive? I'm talking about things you can buy in a box and play immediately, not "print your own minis" bullshit or things where you're forced to use proxies cause official models don't exist.
>>97817089I think they are still making HeroClix despite Crisis Protocol being a thing.
>>97816751If only they werent technologically stagnant and able to use the same technology that actual hobby companies use to meet far higher demand with far higher quality
>>97817200Again, why should they if their customers do not ask for it? Which wargame would require such miniatures? What purpose would it serve?Even bandai, who have the knowledge and skill on how to make posable gunpa kits decided to not do that for their own wargame. Why should anyone else?
>>97811387>Toy Soldiers like your pic related>Quality has went downI feel like the quality was better twenty odd years ago when they were basically slightly smaller knockoffs of Airfix/Matchbox germans and british paratroopers. Now they are all copies of copies of copies.
>>97814744Because the rules in TW are virtually the same as in the Battletech Compendium. I do not trust Catalyst to not """"streamline""" the game for """modern audiences"""" and making it just Alpha Strike 2.
>mimimi, humans don't have their own feature, mimimi, we have to invent somethingNecromancy right here. When was the last time you saw non-human necromancer, lich or vampire? That's right, they practically don't exist because other races are simply inferior when it comes to necromancy and those non-human undead are so pathetic that everyone forgets about their existence in 5 minutes . Except for that one orc, but even he understood that he was worthless and therefore got himself a human body to finally become a full-fledged lich. Though nta i find it really funny how the Sabbat like constantly jerk off themselves for being the destroyers of the Antedilluvians they pretty much exclusively just make noise and do nothing rather than hunting down the actual threats to the world like the Camarilla Inner Circle, the Antedilluvians, or even Methuselahs who are all insane threats to their world view and life style instead just feeding like parasites on a carcass and attacking weak cammie cities or wartorn regions/3rd world nations
If the VtM to VtR2e conversion anon is aroundI couldn't find any mention of vampire fangs dealing lethal damage to other vampires in the text. Considering they are lethal in Requiem and Aggravated in V20, I'd imagine they stay lethal in the coversion, but without mention one could imagine this means they do bashing, as per the "only if it says lethal to vampires" ruleMeanwhile, level 2 Protean Claws say they do lethal, while level 4 specifies Lethal to vampires, so I imagine it's intentional that level 2 only does bashing to vampires.
>>97817011The Protean thing is intentional and a direct port from Requiem, 2 dots say the claws are "mundane" weapons, whereas 4 dot claws are specified to still deal lethal to vampires. Will add an "even to vampires" to the section on bites.

>>97817455It looks like Cthulhu Eternal is the base Delta green system (3-18 stats, bonds as sanity armor, the DG combat system) but tailored to different eras. While it's broadly based on BRP, it's quite a bit different in the details.
>>97817431>>97817455It has the core DG features like bonds and lethality ratings but lacks the glowie focus.

Imagine if you paid $500 for IKEA furniture, amd they told you to chop the trees, plane the wood, and forge the connector bits? That would be unacceptable. So why then pay $10-$20 for a ruleset you're going to be expected to either ignore, rewrite, or add to?There is no acceptable answer.
