what's the best tabletop rpg if I want to make a campaign that's basically a shonen anime style tournament?
>>97376251>Provide us context so we know this isnt a spam threadIs not concern posting. you are just using phrases you read in other threads.
>>97380465It's a great system but only exactly for what OP wants to use it.Like crafting a rooster of figthers and pitching them one another with barely no setting or plot.Sadly, the sytem tries to be pushed as a roleplaying system, but you can't really GM a tabletop adventure with it. It just takes too much time to create random cool dudes, it proved to be too much for our GM for example. If ALL your GM prep time is allocated into creating characters with interesting combos, then it's a great system. If on top of that you need to do plots and npcs and maps or create investigations, it's not a recommended system for normal GMs

Requesting an original character based on Quest for Camelot (1998) of a friendly male barbarian with short brown hair tied in a topknot, brown eyes, a little bit of a stubble, and a bit chubby wearing a brown chest strap with his sword in the back, a brown loincloth (similar to the ones in the movie), brown wristbands, and brown boots, standing in a full body shot, smiling.

Welcome to /wbg/, the official thread for the discussion of in-progress settings for traditional games. Here is where you go to present and develop the details of your worlds such as lore, factions, magic and ecosystems. You can also post maps for your settings, as well as any relevant art (either created by you or used as inspiration for your work). >>97380524>>97378861Did they ever adjust or fix the teams that got fucked over in the newest edition? Humans, dark elves, dwarfs, and chorfs are still struggling.
>>97381159We wont see anything until GW do a major tournament most likely. And knowing GW the first thing they'll do is nerf Goblins.
>>97380454I gathered the reason was something like that, but they relented in the new edition. How did they get the retarded c-suite employee to stop? Usually they just fire anyone who tells them no.
>>97339316Happy New Year Fren!
>>97379425Then why switch rules? Are you bound by some contract to play by whatever new edition GW decides to publish?
Tabletop RPGs tend to split up crafting into a high number of crafting subskills for every individual area of expertise. There's no question that crafting is still extremely powerful despite forcing you to go through this hassle, but what are your thoughts on which particular crafting subskills tend to be the most useful in the context of a TTRPG campaign, be it a medieval or modern or sci-fi setting?Pic related is from Legend of the Five Rings, where I'll be playing a crafter soon, and I intend to invest heavily into crafting. But feel free to talk about any game you've had experience with.

>>97363242Player 4 would be suggesting they tunnel their way into the treasure room.
>>97382743at least that idea is campaign-forward
No such thing as forward. There is adventure in every direction. If you don't want the players to craft items, stop using rules systems that have crafting rules.

>>97382844Very good post. I concur.
>>97382844I think it's mechanically superior. V20 has better lore, but I can just conform to V20's lore without using the worse system. V5 has flaws, but V20 is shit.

>>97381414Mercury Lamp looks like a 12 year old girl with blonde curls and blue eyes in a cream Victorian dress, she approached Kakophoni without any fear and with rigid movements worthy of a a doll, in fact she looks too much like a doll. She looked at both Kakophoni and his gift with the same calm a kine would have for a timely Amazon delivery. She accepted said gift with both hands outstretched and a light bow, and will obediently wait for the right time to open it. She managed to say: "Welcome thank you farewell." in an dispassionate robotic monotone, she appeared to be more interested in the wall behind Kakophoni than him.Mercury Lamp's aura looks like a pure white canvas with a flickering gold border and multiple sparkles, it's indistinguishable from a human aura in term of intensity and opacity.Man of Florida is a 6'2'' tall, sharply dressed, hairless African-American Tzimisce Antitribu gentleman in his early 50s with complex scarification patterns all over his skin, but he doesn't show much skin, as he wears a Regency-era dark blue short slip waistcoat with a strangely thin waistline, and a high collar and trousers that make his figure appear taller, and a big, kind smile. He bowed in the manner of an European aristocrat from 2 centuries ago, and rushed in, in the hope to at least shake Kakophoni's hand, but the guest left too soon. Don't worry, he took it well, with a smile, and elegantly bid adieu. You couldn't have paired Mercury Lamp with a more dissimilar person. His aura is a womanly mix of lavender, pink and violet, it's even paler than the average vampire.
>>97381414Ensuring the safety of a guest is standard protocol and includes comfort and safety from unpleasant noises, not simply life-threatening situations. It was never my intention to be rude or question your fighting prowess and survival ability, thank you for the feedback, please forgive me.Yeah Mercury Lamp is weirdest thing in a house of fucking weirdos
>>97382287It's fine, little one. Have your family let me know how they like the gift. -Kakophoni not completely weird compared to some of House Scholar but definitely different. Also I can't wait to see Venus and Scarlet's reaction to the vial of tears gift. Kakophoni isn't being a dick, it's a genuine gift though he doesn't realize they might not see it that way.
>TQAh... that would have to be Mister Bear, that cute-as-a-button stuffed bear toy who was my shoulder to cry on and bodyguard for most of my mortal life. After i was turned, i trudged through winter nights to return home and slaughter the swine. The catharsis of that moment called upon my beast, my frenzy, and my delusions and truths and I had no choice but to rip Mister Bear to shreds. Where stuffing should have been spewn I was met instead with eyes, the forever hateful penetrating eyes of my original sire. RIP Mister Bear, the children loved you.

>>97379160>It hands you a ton of tools for improvising shit to happenIt clearly doesn't because turning it into something required a 200~ page campaign book. (Which still lacked an ending)
>>97379797It has an endingThe purpose of the play is to create itself.
>>97379160It's not marketed as a series of Legos to build my own scenario, and if it was, it would be fucking bad at that. It's marketed as a good king in yellow scenario, but what it actually is is a series of scenes where the keeper describes something creepy happening, and then you leave that room and go to another room where the keeper describes something creepy happening, ad infinitum. Detwiler is a great writer, I enjoy his DG fiction, but his scenarios are all the same shit, either a collection of cut scenes or a bunch of information that the PCs will have no way to find out or interact with, usually with a single, hyper specific thing they need to accomplish to get any kind of resolution. He does everything that every single person with half a brain will tell you is terrible gming, but people lap it up because he's been grandfathered in as a """""great scenario designer""""" because he worked on the original DG.
>>97364632>shotgun scenario about using ICE operations as a cover to finish off a ghoul cult that DG couldn't get rid of during the Biden years>players have to make regular drive rolls to escape Will Stancil's clapped out honda fit while boxing up captured ghouls into an unmarked fedvan>+20 to a persuade roll if they make a reference to Elon, GrokAI, or twitter while trying to evade confronting the "Lawyer, Master of Black People" without violence
>>97364572Want my honest opinion? Modern Delta Green should set its primary scenario as mankind nearing a state of potential apotheosis into a Mythos entity, purely because of our increasing violence, self-destruction, and careless pursuit of higher sciences. Have every act DG commits to save mankind be the exact same thing that's going to drive it to become something nightmarish. Have it be EASY for operatives to hide themselves, get gear, do what they want with impunity, but always make those methods disturbingly callous and wasting huge amounts of human life (that nobody seems to really care gets wasted). Make it so that sometimes, an operation succeeds purely because the entity they were pursuing realized how fucking dangerous earth is now, and decided to leave while the gettin' was still good.

>>97381536Ouch.My condolences.
>>97382781
>>97381462The problem anon is that you might be lucky enough to have friends who are open to or flexible on that stuff. My friend group is very flexible on lore and just explaining my vision is enough to get them to agree to most things- but not everyone has the luxury of those sorts of friends. You and I are both extremely lucky, in that way.
>>97383235Yeah, I realize my group's not the most regular given that we all stuck together as a group since high school and through college, so going on 8+ years of playing together is abnormal and probably not even close to the baseline. Much more flexible too.I also just didn't really have anything to say to that anon's story. "Wow that's rough" didn't feel like a fair amount of coverage for something like that.
