Did they say when we could expect the new retrospective article that would be a sneakpeak? Tomorrow (wednesday)?
>>96459681Yeah, should be tomorrow as the 10 year articles have all been on Wednesdays.

Trying to hammer out a solid setting/headcanon for a unified Alien/Predator universe. Here's my take on what to keep , what to shitcan and what to add:>Things to KEEP: The Queen and the hive from Aliens. Gives the bugs a purpose beyond just being murder-insects. Diverse Alein lifeforms (e.g., the T. Ocellus from the Alein Earth). Gritty corporate dystopia. Weyland-Yutani is the real villain. "Truckers in space" aesthetic is mandatory. The Engineer/Forerunner concept, but ONLY as a way to explain panspermia. It elegantly explains why so many species are biologically compatible (e.g., Facehuggers working on humans and Yautja). It also supports my favorite fan theory: the Yautja didn't invent their advanced technology; they inherited or reverse-engineered it. This explains how a tribal, honor-based society can also have plasma casters and FTL ships.>Things to discard:The AvP movie lore. Predators did not build pyramids on Earth. The Human/Xenomorph Hybrid (looking at you, Newborn): This completely demystifies the Xenomorph for me. The horror of the Alien is its otherness. It's already the ultimate killer because it takes traits from its host—it's already optimized to hunt us. Making it more human just makes it less scary. The "Magic" Black Goo: As it stands in the prequel films, the goo is a narrative crutch. It can create, it can destroy, it can mutate... it can do whatever the plot needs. I'd either discard it entirely or give it hard, consistent rules.>Things to ADD: More alien life in general. The galaxy feels way too empty with just humans, Xenos, and Preds.Comment too long. >>96442506which game was it where the Alien campaign has you play as Six.>creepy doctor researching live alien subjects (and all that this implies)>burn the number 6 into PC Alien's forehead>break out of xenojail>stealth through vents>french kiss people through their brain stems>kill the creepy doctor>escape and become a queen morphI don't know or care about the lore as established, comics or movies or otherwise, I like the idea that a single alien will become a queen morph in the absence of a viable broodmother to produce new eggs, generally the biggest and the strongest of the group, while the others either die contesting the claim or become simple drones.
>>96458390Bro, that saxophone is fucked up.
>>96438502Writer for the Alien RPG (Andrew Gaska) doesn't like the crossover.
>>96458850I think that first appeared explicitly in the Cold Forge novel, but it's also a pretty obvious extrapolation from what we see in Resurrection, Prometheus, and Covenant (and re-visited in Romulus) and goes back at least as far as the mid-ninties material like Alien3 (dog / ox burster different to human version), the Technical Manual (WY scientists speculating that the alien is human shaped because it reads the hosts hox genes or something to adapt to its environment), various comics with variant aliens, and the Kenner toy range. Even the original film had a deleted scene where the alien transforms humans into eggs, suggesting some method of altering their biology. It's also implausible that you could fit an animal as big as a chestburster inside someone's thorax without seriously altering their anatomy or leaving them virtually incapacitated.
>>96458998>But the powers that be will absolutely fuck you over for a percentage. Crew expendable.I don't even think it's that bad. In Alien, WY is fucking ruthless, but nobody expects them to be that bad. Right up until they see the evidence, they assume that the company wouldn't throw their lives away. It is obviously meant to be a shocking revalation that the crew are expendable. That isn't the attitude of someone living in a cyberpunk-style world. At worst it's equivalent to modern-day where things are pretty bad for a lot of people, but most normies can still tell themselves that society is more-or-less OK. I think it's more likely the intent that for it to be basically 1970-80s America where society as a whole was pretty much OK, with a few fucked-up things going on but well-concealed from the public.Aliens doesn't seem any worse. Some bureaucrats are dismissive of what sounds like a crazy story, one influential guy is a psychopath, and he can pull some strings to manipulate events. But the marines are basically good people, and everyone seems to expect society to function OK.In 3 you have a bit of a step towards dystopia. Then the comics (and, to a lesser extent, the novels) go absolutely crazy with shit like the berserker program (40k dreadnaughts with psycho prisoners inside, who get slowly killed by the suit) and the royal jelly (drug which turns people into insane killing machines extracted from aliens, which the military actually wants). Romulus has WY working its employees to death like some kind of third-world operation, and I think that is too far outside of most normal people's experience to really empathise with. Obviously big corporations now can have some employees who are basically fine and some who are pretty much slaves or whose lives are considered worth little, so it isn't unrealistic to mix them up. But it feels more realist to me if 'crew expendable' is a big deal.

>>96458194It seems like they've decided to make mechanicum be vampire counts so lean into doing gay super wizard shit or perish i guess.
People bitching about -4 STR should realize it's actually pretty forgiving. Things could get so much worse.
>>96459404>The main issue it's for that to work there should be an upside to trade off for the penaltyObviously. But even >>96459065 gave the easy answer there, where giving female characters a bonus to spellcasting or magic is a really basic tradeoff.
tg is full gay today, aint it?
>>96459709Again, the people who care about penalizing female characters despise PC usually being exceptions to the average and abstractions making no sense (see deadly cats) would argue that WIZARDS are wised old men, no women.
>>96459745Yes, since you're here.
>>96459830And again, I'm saying that's the main reason that it's impossible to have a discussion about these mechanics. Because people are busy getting angry about bait and boogeymen.

>Parasite of Mortex>rules revolve around creating entire units of ripper swarms>kit comes with zero (0) swarm models>you cannot buy a kit of just ripper swarms>you have to buy a box of hormagants or termagants to get one (1) base of rippers a pop>PoM can make up to three units of up to three models eachSo, if I wanted to do this the way GW expects me to do it, and I don't just move individual Rippers to individual 2" bases and call them "Social Distance Rippers" they want me to buy 9 boxes of Horms or Terms.fuck that.
>>96459396My newfag ass finally caught on when GW introduced the Tervigon and rules that my local WAACfag player shit out literally 500 pts of free gaunts per 1850 (which was the tourney standard then) game.
>>96459703It's like being caught in a plastic fucking pyramid scheme.I bought a model that forces me to buy more models to use it. Not even buy the models I need, I need to go out and buy TEN models I don't need for the one model I do. I need to go out and buy bags of crackerjacks, throw out the crackerjacks, and keep the prize inside. The extra disgusting part is that they've announced it this early not for consumer benefit, but to create a panic boom in their sales as people rush to buy up old stock.

Is army painter dark tone a good substitute for Nuln Oil in the thread's opinion? I'm running down to the end of my pot and apparently they fucked the formula in the meantime.
What made gnomes so special that they needed to be a core race for so long? they were only introduced shortly after the original races buts still stick around to this day. they are never really popular player races, and don't really fulfill the same fantasy tropes as the other races didSo why stick around as a core and not just be a later supplement?
>>96459538Who hurt you? What made you gnomeaphobic?
>>96459538Why are elves special? They're literally the same size as humans. Why do we need so many human sized races?
>>96459765Because elves can go up and down on the ladder of their connection to other races. If they arn't the super primordial progenitor elves (Le'shay or whatever they were called in Epic Handbook) they are the progenitor of 90% of most races.
>>96459538gnomes have some mythological/folklore weight working for them. The real question is why do halflings still exist? They're just knock-off hobbits, anything worthwhile should be rolled into gnomes.

>>96459269He's generally a background villain, operating mostly through one of those smaller ARGUS drones you see hovering behind him. Primarily a roboticist, he is responsible for accidentally creating his heroic arch-nemesis, Apex, and has become consumed by the idea of replicating the circumstances of that transformation for himself. He has become increasingly desperate to achieve that goal over the years, as Apex seemingly resists the ravages of time in a way that Zero cannot.Pic related is Apex, but I'm in the process of redesigning him to be less obviously "Superman."

Does that mean that there's a plane where population's just filled with spider people? Are there even other creature types in the set, seems like all of them are human lmao. What's the name of the plane?
do these people think their combat tricks gain extra stats if they tank for 1 million years before playing them?stop wasting so much fucking time, wtf
