Thread #02 Lean Winter on the TundraPrevious Thread: >>97090196Welcome to /un0/, an RP thread for playing a World of Darkness/Chronicles of Darkness Hunter. For any OOC questions about WoD/CofD, check the official general. >>97224887Rules:>We are acephale. There is no storyteller, we are not a quest.>This thread is based primarily but not exclusively in the nWoD/CofD game Hunter: the Vigil. However, Vigil is defined by being highly setting agnostic, with a system for creating entirely custom monsters that do not exist in other WoD/CofD games. Thus, you have significant freedom in what you want to play and what you want to hunt. Feel free to play a member of the Society of Leopold, or a member of the Lucifuge hot on the tail of a Lasombra.>Namefagging is encouraged but by no means mandatory.>Keep in mind that even highly experienced Hunters typically only have fractured pieces of the puzzle, and every table has their own canon. The night is dark and full of misinformation.>/un0/ is conceived of as an experimental end to end encrypted program that is very hard to compromise, retains very little data and purges that data regularly. Please play an actual Hunter.>Spoiler any OOC discussion.Happy hunting. Unless this thread somehow takes off like a rocket, this will be the last un0 thread for the foreseeable future. Towards the end of the thread, please give your feedback in regard to these shorter, limited run RP threads.
>>97252060Gender/Sex/Man&Woman, Duality, Disparity, Binary, Night /Day, Hot/Cold, for something to have identity it is One, for something to recognize itself there must be Two. Two also as mentioned represents a mating pair. Two divides, but by dividing also multiplies.
Might anyone be familiar with creatures capable of influencing emotion? Particularly feelings of tranquility, or ennui. I am finding myself concerned with how at peace I am feeling. >>97251920Great to hear everything worked out, especially your armor. Good equipment is so hard to come by, each piece deserves to be cherished. Did the pocket realm collapse after its prisoner died?

>>97250451While I do not know of a reliable way of finding them I could offer some potential way of trapping them. I assume iron would work in a similar manner to silver's effect on werewolves. Iron restraints would be a good starting point, from there I would suggest getting a holy artifact or someone who's well-versed in holy rituals. Your safest best is combining everything and getting a real miracle worker involved (yes, they exist). If you ever capture such demon I could recommend some proven interrogation methods.
>>97251271I'm a little skeptical of the idea that arsonists for Christ that attack every single supernatural with the same two tactics are that widespread. And I'd double down on the idea that you've never left the kiddie pool of hunting if you actually think vampire mind control is the same sport as "a little more charismatic." I saw a mind-controlled dude blow away his wife with a shotgun, all with a blank stare on his face, like he didn't even register that he was doing it. I'd also question the virtue of a God who punished all of mankind for the hubris of two of their forebearers by locking us in a, as you described, prison filled with horrible monsters that can violate our wills, bodies, and very souls. His holy book is notably bereft of any actionable information on how to confront creatures of darkness. You randomly threw out there that vampire mind control was created by Cain... I don't recall that part in Sunday school. Would've been nice to mention that. If this is an obstacle for us to overcome, it was designed by a sadist, because most of us are set up to fail. Fuck that ancestral guilt nonsense. Children don't deserve to be eaten because of what two dipshits at the dawn of time did. If that's the nature of God, then he's just the biggest monster out there, the last one we need to hunt.

>>97252342Is this ragebait or are you retarded? They lose a lot. only notable thing besides "le gundum" they have is that they ae young and that's used to make the Empire look like a eldrich horor. I mean that's literally their most iconic scene. Kill a dreadnought and find out he is older than the entire civilization. Models are gay asf. Exposed to be the alien race yet only have kroot and one unit of vspids. As u/CraftworldSarathai said, "T'au are held to an unrealistic standard, there are tons of stories in which the highly elite, advanced, super-old T'au die like total novices in droves to Space Marines, For fucksakes etherals die like nothing. Kelly hates the T'au. The Farisght books are written at a 2nd grade level, are poorly plotted, and contradict themselves pretty frequently. Shadowsun is the pinnacle of randomly deciding what is or is not tau lore. We have so little of it and he contradicts literally everything. Hell they lose a plant to the Dark Eldar like it's nothing.
>>97244827Traditional games, anyone?
I always find it weird that there are people who can't imagine how to be someone other than themselves. I've had to spend my entire life having to do that simply because neurotypical people expect everyone to think like them.
I still say there should be an "Original Generation" setting with no humans or other generic fantasy things like elves, just stuff made up for D&D. Kinda hard to balance a set of playable races around that, though since most of the OG stuff was made with being random shit for players to fight in mind. I guess Drow and Giths are distinct enough from generic Dark Elves and goblinoids to count.
>>97244827If your characters are improved by slapping a new skin on them you're boring.

Everyone I know who watches Fatt Coville videos is a fucking terrible GM. I've never fully watched one and I am widely considered the best GM out of all 3 groups I'm part of. I am regularly requested to run campaigns. People borderline fall asleep in the games others run. There's also no tension because they know that these Coville acolytes will fudge rolls until all PCs survive the battle. If you're a good GM, it's an inmate talent you can hone over time. You're born that way. If you aren't, then no amount of shitty advice is going to make up for your lack of talent. It just is what it is. This idea that everyone should "try" DMing is retarded. The idea that anyone can be good at it? lolno. Its like some fat divorced on who suddenly decides he's gonna become a famous author. Fat chance. Most people fucking suck at GMing. Hell, most of them suck at playing, but at least in that case the game depends less on them.
>>97251340>Maybe Fatt Coville isa good DM, but his hordes of Patreon simps that blindly copy his stupid ideas, rarely are. He's not. He talks a big game and loves to say things that sound intelligent, but in practice he runs games with a lot of blunt force railroading. >In videos: Be flexible! Improv! Put the spotlight on the PCs since they're the stars! If they come up with a cool idea, just use it! Player choices matter!>In practice: Talks over the players. Spews obnoxious drawn out exposition dumps instead of player-NPC interaction. Gets annoyed when players don't immediately follow the exact things he planned from start to finish for the entire campaign. Whenever they go outside of his plans, he just forces them back on rails. Cutscene narration as often as possible.
>>97252486>Spews obnoxious drawn out exposition dumps instead of player-NPC interaction. This is happening in our game right now. It sucks because our GM is usually great, but the module he's running is really terrible.
>>97252361The right answer would be to slowly transform the game with houserules using the best and most attractive mechanics from the other system.
>>97252486Yeah. So he's just like Brennan Lee Mulligan and Matt Mercer. Total overdramatic söyfuck reading off a script. Barely even a real dm, frankly.

I've been told the standard D&D character is now a human female fighter and the fighter section has had gender neutral language replaced with she and her to accommodate the fandomDo all the boys who play really just want to be girls? How do we make them want to not be fighters or humans? Why aren't tieflings the most popular?
>>97253481And did I say anything to the contrary? It's simply true that "he" in place of a gender neutral pronoun was the norm, with "they" also being used but more often only when referring to groups.

>>972526691 is basic combinatorics. There's 8 options for the first school, and 7 options for the second. That gives 56 total pairs, but it's actually 28 unique pairs as Abjuration/Divination is the same as Divination/Abjuration. That gives 26 remaining after Enchantment/Necromancy and Conjuration/Divination are spoken for. 2 you're gonna have to just sit down with an excel spreadsheet and start coming up with words.

>>97249405what regiment?anyone with an urbie on their insignia knows they're in deep shite.
I’ve been reading the ASOIAF books after reading the Dune series, since I like the great house culture of it and it reminds me of Battletech. If the Great Houses of BT were in ASOIAF as noble houses, which kingdom do you think each would fit in with?I’m think Davion in the stormlands due to their militarism, Steiner in the Reach kind of because of their high standard of living relative to the others but also because they seem more pragmatic than others, maybe Marik in the Vale since they tend to mind their own business and be forgotten. Which kingdoms do you think match which BT houses?
>>97253797The autism to combine two fandoms together... I once had such autism... Steiner would be the Stormlands, I have no reason other than it makes sense to me.
Fuck matching houses to houses. Lets cut to the chase. How hard does Tywin win the setting as Lord of any of the five houses.
>>97253905Easy. By not fucking up his relationship with Tyrion.
What is the best TTRPG for a Kenshi Campaign?
>>97252652Honestly, GURPS or Savage Worlds, I recommend the latter.
GURPS with After the End I guess but I confess to never having read AtE.
>>97252652Given the heavy focus on resource scarcity, brutal high cost combat, and an emphasis on creating warbands, you may have a hard time finding an existing ttrpg to fit kenshi. For a similar setting I wound up just making my own system. Basically just start with what's important to the vibe you're going for and work out from there.

Tell me a bit about the Scholastica Psykana.Things like jobs aspects and how long someone's usually there for.,
You should ALWAYS cheese every encounter. If you EVER end up in a situation that even remotely resembles a fair fight, just run away and wait until you can rig the situation to your favor. Use your fucking brain. Even if it is highly improbable for you to lose a given fight, statistically speaking, you'll still eventually croak if you keep taking those bets. Don't leave it up to chance. It's easier than you might think, you just need to use your noggin. It's not a video game. You can do whatever the fuck you want.Just the other night my party ran into a melee monster in a narrow ass room that they for some reason decided to ram their dicks into until someone died. When I suggested that we retreat for a bit and lure it into the room with the big ass statues so we can all just climb them and shoot it to death, they looked at me like I just escaped from the looney bin. They all died of course.
