>>97343794>>97343840>One thing I always thought was cool was the ability to "analyze" an enemy for many roundsYep, nothing similar to that and longer than a full action aim seems to be a default option in DH-related systems.>I also really like the many different mundane methods for characters to work together in combatSomething similar might be found in the Inquisitor's Handbook for DH1E (and maybe in OW too), but it's not likely to be as much.>When I look through the rules, it seems like there are more ways to get bonuses to hit during combat than for bonuses to noncombat skills in peaceful situations, which feels backwards to me.Indeed, more effort was put into disassembling combat into separate modifiers than into disassembling non-combat activities the same way (as opposed to simply giving a range of total mods and telling the GM to pick).
>>97343946>Something similar might be found in the Inquisitor's Handbook for DH1EAlright, I'll look into it and see if I can recommend anything to the soon-to-be GM. Thanks.
>>97337478No. The Emperor said none of those. The "Burn the Heretic, Kill the Mutant, Purge the Unclean" is the result of ten thousand years of setting brainrot. The idea it's anything else, is just fan circle brainrot, supported because BL are too hack-ish to write anything not about Astartes killing bad guys, or remembering that 40k motifs weren't common in 30k.>Alien.Permitted if they're amicable. Issue was, Dark Forest theory answered itself in that most aliens encountered weren't amicable. The politest regularly encountered were the Craftworld Eldar, who were still used to the idea of being a galactic empire themselves, and were pirates as much as anything else. This got flanderized down into "All aliens are ebil, and must be killed on sight or you're a sinner.">Heretics.Literally weren't a thing. You have some marines arbitrarily using the word (because the writers forgot what the word means), but what you had were hostile factions, or traitors.'Heretic' would only be adopted wholesale around m36 with the official adoption of the Imperial Cult.Comment too long. >>97344527You're arguing with someone who got all their lore from fuckin bluesky or some shit. They have bad opinions and they refuse to change them because it gives them a sense of smug moral superiority, and they probably tell their friends "oh I wish I could like 40k but it's just so full of evil people being evil" or other such faggotry. They're probably an athiest and thus dig for literally any reason to hate Big E because he vaguely resembles the abrahamic god.In short, a retard and a troll. Don't feed 'em.
I feel bad for the Drukhari, their codexes have taken a real beating, and they have so few units. On the plus side, so few units means I could transfer them over into the BFK Mass Combat system easily enough, only took two hours or so.

>>97345736>What was the shitstorm about?About a decade ago JKR wrote a very polite essay saying that while trannies are heckin beautiful and valid, for the sake of women's safety they shouldn't be allowed in women's rape shelters.Naturally this was literal genocide so queers have spent the last decade plus flooding her with death threats and throwing any baseless slander they can possibly think of at her, including "holocaust denier," "science denier," "antisemite," "nazi," "murderer," "misogynist," "alt-right," "hated by her family," and most bizarrely, "lives in a castle full of black mold."All this because, naturally, they know no one outside the most deranged circles will view "anti-trans" as a bad thing. As a result JKR for her part has become significantly less willing to be bullied by alleged "progressives" over the years, which has created a feedback loop which occasionally creates some really funny twatter interactions, not that it's worth going to twatter to look. With the current state of the audience for Traditional Games™ it's probably more effort than it's worth to try and create a Harry Potter system, what with the political backlash... but looking at that recent video game, maybe not.
>>97345653>McGonagall probably expected Hermione wouldn't abuse the Time Turner and ONLY be a swot who takes extra lessons. The idea that a high school teacher would even be in a position to decide whether or not to give one to a 13-year-old is so absurd as to strain credulity on its own. Hell, even if you trust the kid, all it takes is Malfoy being a particularly big prick that day and shaking her upside-down until it falls out of her pocket.
>>97346004Honestly, I'd say it's probably more effort than it's worth to make a Harry Potter system, but not because of political reasons. More that with how loosely magic works in the HP system, you'd either have to make it insanely simple to fit the intended audience, or make it stupidly complicated to properly replicate all the magic shit. That and so many spell combos would be so beyond busted that you wouldn't need the killing curses, a specialized transfiguration specialist would basically be able to instantly win encounters by turning people into mice, and all of the loopy shit people do with stuff like prestidigitation in D&D is going to increase exponentially.Granted, if it allowed me to play Rincewind in such a game, maybe, just maybe, I'd be interested. But more than likely I wouldn't be allowed to.
>>97346004Fascinating. Im glad everything could be explained as "crazy people did something pointless for no reason", the world is much simpler that way

>>97345412I'm pretty sure that hypothesis was washed long ago, and the one currently in vogue is that the genetic combo that produces homosexuality in men increases fertility in women.
>>97345766Haven't heard that one. Maybe you're right. I guess the bigger point is that the "gays are unnatural!" retards don't seem to understand that evolution kept it around in human beings, so as natural as opposable thumbs. And that human society and biology is incredibly more complex than anything that can be reduced to a bumper sticker and that our specializations and differences? Helpful.
>>97345816Sure, but it's worth noting in the same context that men instinctively react to seeing two men kissing with the same revulsive affect that they react to seeing maggots crawling in meat, and that most human civilizations habitually beat male homosexuals to death when caught. So it's entirely possible that what makes the fertility adaptation valuable is that the accidental defective men it produces are simply disposed of by the rest of the population and pose no practical issue.I'm not saying this is definitively the case, mind you. Just that it's very easy to tell yourself stories about the ancestral environment that are in line with what you already liked, and you too should be very careful about that incredible complexity.
>>97334560>Go out of your way to write an entire book to remind people that in your made up imagination game, there can be gay peopleI mean I know op posted this to be a baiting fag but come on
>>97345881>it's worth noting in the same context thatSure. You're right that "natural" doesn't equal good. But "it's unnatural" is a claim that straight people use to target gays. Not a justification gays use to target straights. It's the "god hates gays" people who are claiming "natural must be right!" Lots of "natural" instincts aren't.>that most human civilizations habitually beat male homosexuals to death when caught. That's... not historical.

>>97338861>I think it would be cool to have an option for people that don't want to trawl through message boards for builds or have exhaustive knowledge of 20 different books to not feel like a gimp next to those people that do that stuff. If the problem is char-op, then either prebuilt characters with their whole 1 to 20 choices pre-made, or even better in my opinion a simple very limited pool of curated options so that the person can make some choices. You could even group it by themes or roles or whatever.
>>97338861I really don't understand this mindset. There are pregen characters all over the source material.Just pick a high level NPC and there is your decent build if you don't want to do it yourself.why restrict the entire group and game instead. These games are meant to last years. An intimidated newbie today, in 3 years of playing might want to start branching out.

>>97345312They were one of the last holdouts, but have been switching to resin and plastic with mixed results for the past few years.
>>97344652Might be. I think it's mainly from how the website selling Cryx forces describes their situation as>"Stirred to rise from its deathly slumber through insidious bargains wrought by the Orgoth, a terrible new power stirs on the edge of the Iron Kingdoms."Which could either mean they dug up more Orgoth tech, or like how other people are interpreting it to men they made a bargain with the Orgoth Sea Raiders to conquer the mainland together.

>>97345793>only one actually embodies the concept of chaos>still just embodies it in the most stale, predictable fashion imaginableseems pretty much not chaotic if you ask me
>>97345793Religiously, in traditional cultures/religion, "chaos" meant "the forces outside civilization." City = order. Wilderness = chaos. So anything animalistic like rage, rampant sex, gluttony--all traditionally "chaos" in things like Greek and Mesopotamian and Laventine religion (also the ocean is chaos for some reason). Just look at Gilgamesh or the Bible for stories where the good gods slay the chaos gods: yaweh versus leviathan, gilgamesh versus hambaba. Civilization good. Destablizing civilization? Chaos. Hence Enkidu (who gets away from chaos by drinking beer, eating bread and sleeping with a prostitute). Really, tzeentch embodies chaos least of all, out of them.
Of course the real answer is just Moorcock and Anderson. That's where Warhammer and D&D both get their law/chaos dichotomy from.
