>>97332421>>97332328It's a Lamenter so you know the painter suffered making it. The Mk.V is just a damn nice armour, all those cables and studs yet not over-burdened with tat and icons, leans into the weird look of some of that early RT art.

I still think it's funny that the Mentor Legion could actually just be ported back with their original fluff again to modern 40k and they'd fit in again now
What sci-fi setting has the best Space Rome?
>>97336278The Trigan Empire. What do I win?
>>97336278i would say a blame like mega city would fit well to a roman cifi setting.Maybe i only say this becouse i work on my own world/system build in roman asteatic. Its aims to have a roman social and cultural aspects dialed to 11.Single centurion ordering armees of robots, wealthy patricia sheltered in marble bunker.Hordes of indebted slaves and genetically optimized beast servants.criminal organizations with a mythical and underworld template.all neatly packed (or so i hope) put into roman halls of decay.hopes this help you. Overall X in space is one of the easyer things but keeping it on point can go hard.honorable mention to homeworld and the Taii dan. They could fit what you seeking even better.
>>97336278Renegade Legion. The Roman Empire is reborn and goes to the stars, creating a huge interstellar empire. It consisted of a number of games - Centurion was a sort of more complicated version of Battletech that used supersonic grav tanks protected by forcefields instead of Battlmechs, They also had a Fighter game and another involving fleet action between km long battleships. You played as either troops of the mighty empire, or rebels/aliens fighting against their oppressors.
>>97336429They still raid their neighbors for slaves and raw materials. They've just gone from a bandit kingdom to a semi-legitimate state that still gets a significant amount of their income from piracy (or I guess technically privateering, since it's state-sponsored).I also find it hilarious that they only exist because some Irish space-pirate found a motherlode of germanium (the material JumpShip drive-cores are built out of, so it's valuable as fuck), used it to become filthy rich, and started his own kingdom where he insisted everybody must wear togas and call him emperor since he was a massive romaboo.
>>97338134Privateering pays off, at one point they managed to steal a shipment of Marauder IIs, stripped out all the advanced tech and strapped a bunch of rocket launchers in their place.
>finally get to play Enemy Within>it's just endless fightslopWhy do people like this shit again?
>>97327677I'm 56. I'd never head of Enemy Within
>>97335732>12000xp dwarf lawyerThat sounds fun as fuck. I only got to play a short game myself, but damn did we enjoy it.
>>97335732The Horned Rat and Empire in Ruins are also much more Fighty and adventurous, it's really only Shadows over Bogonhafen and Powers that Behind the throne that are not combat-oriented.
>>97337408We're near the end of THR. The party are largely gold class and multiple Electors owe them personal favours at this point, so combat generally involves the Knight/Watch Captain PC leading a squad of watchmen and soldiers on a raid. If you're playing THR and you're a noncombat PC scrabbling around beating up cultists personally, something has gone horribly wrong.I probably won't run EiR as written though, just because the players care more about the politics than quests, so that's a fair cop.>>97337374Dwarf Lawyer/Spymaster. Other PCs are Cavalryman/Herald/Bretonnian Squire (!)/Freelance Knight/Watch Captain, Noble/Merchant/Spy/Town Councillor and Halfling Charlatan/Bawd. Longest campaign I've ever run, and it's been great. Unfortunately on a bit of a hiatus for reasons.>>97336166I know this is bait, but sometimes violence occurs. When you confront the bad guy, what do you expect to occur? 'Whoops, my bad, clap me in irons guv'ner'?If you're playing Hans the baker and you're not stupid, you get someone to help you out with that part.
>>97336320>>97338247It's not bait just because it makes you feel stupid (that's because you are). You also can't refute it because it's true.
>running a Witcher game for my friends>the party has a Witcher, a scoia’tel elf, a vran bard, and a Skelliger druid>if these chucklefucks don’t kill each other, they’re getting lynched by the first peasants they look at the wrong way
>>97330885I don't think people care that much about being from Skellige and the party being heavily armed and having a Witcher present will already make them only hassled by those with some serious ability to back it up. Also Druids are literally mages, by virtue of having one the party is already high status and even nobles won't fuck with them. They're not part of the Lodge or whatever but that's purely a cultural difference, even royalty will probably avoid blatant provocation because nothing good comes from making enemies with a mage
>>97334147Skelligers are generally perceived as bloodthirsty savages, and the cultural difference is an important one. To Nordling lords, their mages were specially trained at an academy to serve them. Druids weren’t, and might as well be basically witches. That’s not even getting to that, by the Third Northern War, even said Nordling mages are being hunted down by witch hunters, let alone pagan druids from the pirate islands.
>>97330885>a Witcher, a scoia’tel elf, a vran bard, and a Skelliger druidIn what reality arent these guys just absolutely butchering a bunch on peasants trying to lynch them?
>>97330885Historically peasants have never been as dangerous as you're making them out to be
>>97337225Witcher peasants are basically the medieval equivalent of Marvel civilians, they're suicidally aggressive pit-bulls who will zerg rush people capable of single handedly killing dragons and blowing up castles with meteor swarms because Sapkowski is Polish and that's how Polish people think the world is like

>>97314392>There is no reason that 5e can't do space adventures. It's just a reskinningThere's actually quite a few; combat isn't lethal enough, all combat rules are skewed towards hacking and slashing, travel rules are garbage, ship rules are anemic if not non-existent, and probably a whole host of minutiae that isn't accounted for because D&D 5e wasn't meant to be a space adventure game. I think the next revival movement in a sinilar vein to the OSR is going to be 3rd edition focussed. I think that granular, complex build focussed market isnt really served by 5e or pathfinder truly, and theres empty space in the market/community.
>>97334031oh come on, the last time anyone played M&M was during the Bush administration. There are a couple mechanical things that will always scare players:1) starting at zero for ability scores2) no HPI've played third edition, I even own the mecha supplement. I don't fundamentally disagree with their mechanics; they work for supers, but outside of that (or even street level) it starts shaking and sputtering and burning oil. >>97309550christ there are some mental gymnastics here>>97309565>>97309550gonna have to remind you both that thor has a statblock in deities & demigods (p. 106).
>>97333968no I love the pun. he's our lil mascot.
>>97334200>1) starting at zero for ability scoresnobody is scared by this because the scores are equivalent to your modifier in d&d. even totally new players get that a 0 is the equivalent of an average untrained adult dude and a 10 is really really really strong (10 strength is really like having 30 strength in D&D and means you can casually lift 25 tons, you're as strong as an ancient dragon) the no HP thing is something people either love or hate, yeah. I've also played Cortex which uses a similar not-HP mechanic based on stepping up dice and separate mental/physical stress rather than a raw hit point total so I never had an issue with it. I would say its popularity has actually increased recently due to shit like Dispatch getting all the critical role crowd aware of capeshit and wanting to play similar ragtag band of fuckups with highly specific powers, M&M is by far the best system to try and have somebody like Phenomeman, Invisigal and Waterboy on the same team and their Complications practically write themselves. The Marvel Multiverse RPG is way more constrained and basically involves picking your "class" from existing marvel heroes, I don't know anyone who's played it for a full campaign as opposed to one shots but maybe some people like it..I think it helps that superhero stuff is one of the genres able to pass the "why would I play this instead of 5e?" test the way stuff like Call of Cthulhu does, all the other generic high fantasy games about elves and wizards and knights and paladins (daggerheart, draw steel, pathfinder, shadowdark, tales of the valiant, shadow of the weird wizard) are a much harder sell in my experience than games like CoC or M&M where even casuals or noobs to TTRPGs intuitively understand that Boromir, Librarian Henry Armitage and Martian Manhunter are all playing by different rules in different worlds. Explaining why you HAVE to play Legends of the Five Rings and can't just call your longsword a katana in 5e is a lot harder sell
>>97334346well, as I said, I think it works great in that specific context (relatively strong supers, though idk the power level of dispatch). but I also think the superhero moment has largely passed. saying it's coming back because of one video game is like saying westerns were "back" in the 90s because of tombstone or unforgiven.I haven't played M&M in 15+ years, so maybe I can't definitively say how players will feel about the ability scores, but anecdotally I know how people felt at the time, explaining it at the table at my friend's house. Does it make sense? Sure. Does it also feel weird? definitely. like I understand the mechanics. I was the one who criticized them. in your response, you put M&M's 10 STR into D&D terms. ultimately, stop and think about why you felt the need to do that
>>97334618Because the most effective way to explain a new concept is to compare it to something the listener is already familiar with. If your first experience was with MnM and I was explaining DnD, then I would be using MnM to explain the mechanics of DnD. Is this really not obvious to you? Have you never taught a concept to anyone before?
>no display names>no player cards >large groupHow do I keep track of the characters? It’s such a weird thing to ignore. Just throw a name and picture onto the screen like every other Channel does

How is C4 doing for CR?i think they made a huge mistake with 10+ cast thing.people always wanted them to be more modest and sincere like they were in C1.in the long run no one will bother with keep tracking multiple storylines with literally who characters.

>>97325560I guess it kind of depends on what sort of game you want to run. You could use Zona Alfa and run it as a narrative skirmish campaign and RP stuff between operations without much system.

>>97337209Branded has been playable since the structure deck came out. What are you smoking.
>>97299566Just out of curiosity. Is there any "skill drain lite" in the game? I'm mostly interested in a card to negate my own effects rather than the opponent's.
>>97336337Because there's no purpose for it. It's kind of like the shittier roblox copy of an actual auto sim. It's designed for giga brokies and children that don't know better.EDOpro, Omega, and MD are on every platform including mobile. Two of those offering a ladder and one of those two being entirely free. And if you don't care about a ladder and just want a utilitarian sim to test in then you go EDO.Just my anecdote, but I've got a Note 20 (base model) that's 5+ years old now and it runs all of those clients perfectly fine.Shill tips: You can buy carrier unlocked one right now for about $200, or the ultra for an additional $50‐90 which is the better idea at this point and has a microSD slot still. I would highly recommend the Ultra for the little extra. It even has a built-in stylus too which is extremely useful for playing those clients and the SD storage will let you soak up the filesize of the bulky clients, just remember to define it to install to SD or transfer it. The display might feel a little weird but you'll get over it super quick, though it's size might not be for everyone but it does fit in pockets.
