Clerics and Druids do not become commoners when they're out of spells. Gish builds also have way the fuck more endurance than Fighters do.
>>
>>96606504
yeah but they do become commoners if they say the gamer word or touch metal
>>
>>96606504
>Clerics and Druids do not become commoners when they're out of spells.
Stock clerics may as well be because pure-[Divine] is incredibly shallow, though you're right on Druids because Wild Shape is hours/level for most of the "baseline" numbers and (Su) so countering it is incredibly niche, blatant, and usually catches a lot of the Fighter's numbers.

>Gish builds also have way the fuck more endurance than Fighters do.
It depends how efficient the Gish's buff routine is versus the Fighter's recovery choices. Combat Vigor in particular healing 4/round for 13 rounds at an investment of three feats from 9th level onwards can grind through a LOT of shit.

>party interdepency
What does a wizard need fighter for? That he cant get through familiar, golems, or summons?

>No, it just means that the Wizard now has an easy way to get permanent versions of their divergent buffs

Wizards who forego powerful spells for a few magic items would severely limit them in this tangent design.

>silver bullets
Silver bullet spell design is a problem. This would curb that in another way by rewriting spells from the ground up

>slots
Youre making assumptions here

I want to get into pathfinder 2eR, and I really like playing wizards, but Vancian casting perplexes me to no end. Is there some sort of strategy guide? Like... How many fireballs am I supposed to prepare? Combat can come at literally any moment - how am I supposed to be prepared for the hundreds of spontaneous 'roll initiative''s?

Am I just supposed to load the fuck up on panic spells and fireballs and use spell substitution to cast everything as a pseudo-ritual when needed? How the hell am I supposed to account for this shit without having 9 mega lethals in the chamber just so I'm not the most useless babyboy in the world during any surprise combat? How do I go back in time and kill Jack Vance to stop Gary Gygax from reading Dying Earth and copying the stupidest magic system available?

It's a skill. You prepare based on intelligent guesstimation of what you expect to encounter and any scouting your party has done or has paid to have done. Modern sóystems turn casters into an 'you can do anything always all the time' wish fulfillment free form invisionfeee forum class, but the risk and thinking were key to the fun back in the day.
>>
The Judge Holden...
>>
>>96605539
you do research into the place you're going for the next dungeon crawl and you make educated guesses on what spells would be handy and what spells you can get by with having as scrolls. Your INT is massive, use it fucklechuck. This is why wizards have a reputation of being annoying nerds; not because they're smart or nothing, it's because they grind the adventure to a halt until they know exactly what they're up against.
The alternative is a generic always-useful list of spells.
>>
>>96605539
Seems like thinking is a little hard for you, maybe this isn't the hobby for you, have you tried playing modern videogames instead? That seems more your speed
>>
>>96605539
>Am I just supposed to load the fuck up on panic spells and fireballs and use spell substitution to cast everything as a pseudo-ritual when needed?
Yes

>How the hell am I supposed to account for this shit without having 9 mega lethals in the chamber just so I'm not the most useless babyboy in the world during any surprise combat?
Thinking ahead.

Order of the Words Words Words actually explains it decently in its usual rambling fashion.

>"A wizard's strength is his ability to prepare different spells each day, but it is also our weakness. It is difficult, even for us, to defend against every possible form of attack simultaneously. Those we cannot block outright, we must evade. Those we cannot evade, we must eliminate pre-emptively."

That's the point of having the magic system set up as it is in the first place. Incredible cosmic might, but you still can't just cast "I Win" and call it a day. You have to pre-plan and adapt to whatever is thrown your way. And if you guess wrong, then that's your lesson to better plan next time. That's why D&D created the Sorcerer as a class later, for the people who are willing to give up a chunk of that power for a degree of spontaneity and freedom of choice when it comes to casting what they need at a given point.

That said, if you hate vancian magic that much, try a different system other than D&D. There's a shitton of games out there. Neither D&D nor Vancian casting is the end-all be-all to tabletop games.

I think it's more like the Brass B thing. One guy has a system and the other designs his own game based on that system. I'm sure there is some input from the og designer but I wouldn't count it as a real collaboration on a game by both.

It's gotten so much worse over the years as well. Like when I was a kid we were a bit overweight and we liked our food, but we would meet *before* or *after* going to the GW or club for games to grab a chippie or whatever, and most of us grew up and got gym memberships or an active hobby. Now you walk into most places and there's that hideous stench of too many types of fast food all in the same poorly ventilated room(plus the periodic nauseating wafts from the resident stankmonster when it gets too agitated) and they don't even stand up to play, it's just endless ranks of spherical lardballs sitting around tables emitting a constant sound of hideous open-mouthed chewing as they smear grease everywhere with their stubby fat fingers.

I went to a new club in my area recently - they advertised MTG as well as tabletop games which should have been a big enough red flag to put me off, but I was curious - and fucksake, I thought I'd been teleported to America there were so many fat cunts. One of them legitimately came on a mobility scooter ffs.

What do you think could be THE sport in a scifi space game?

I believe that spacefaring civilizations should have their futuristic equivalent of soccer, a sport spread everywhere that can be played in a small scale among kids as much as absurdly huge events with tons of money exchanging hands. It should be in zero-g to make it feel space-y and it should be complex to the point people in the outside don't get what's going on.

But I don't really have a picture of what it could be like. I've toyed with having sport stars at a station or a big match interupting time sensitive discussions, but I always fear players actually wanting to join in even though that'd be great.

Whatever system is fine, I'm interested even if it's not gonna be something I could insert 1 to 1. Purely conceptual ideas are fine too.

The Last Deathship off Antares. If you want a Humanity Fuck Yeah tale of triumph over the most utterly retarded alien honor culture ever put to paper- one that would make the lustiest HFY fags from the Avatar days go "okay maybe this is going a bit too far with the aliens being dumb"- you may well enjoy it. It is, however, very silly.

VOTOMs first half or 2/3ths is pretty cool once you get used to the not peak animation. Lots of takes on mechs, as if after 0079 a lid was open and they wanted to tell half a dozen ideas about new types of shows centered around mechs. That kinda killed the IP as a franchise tho. it never could offer the same experience again.

Looks like good fun

I don't want to be identified but I wish "the Oldhammer Community" FB page actually functioned as a, well, community.

It's too big with navel-gazing (even if at like 15k members it's not actually that big, there's [British Town moan and grumble] pages with more members)

But it feels like a lot of these events are kind of hidden away and the organisers and regulars (who are often micro-influencers or small company owners) are kind of... their own circlejerk.

I'm kind of guilty of this being in a Discord for a particular event.

But I want to make these things accessible, I think people should use name tags, I'm not saying people aren't welcoming but it can be a little intimidating for someone new.

Post-Jihad, does the Lyran Commonwealth still go with the reporting name "Galahad" for the Glass Spider?

I ask because didn't Defiance Industries reintroduce the original Galahad (the Glass Spider being based on the Galahad is why it was named after the generally extinct mech) through the GLH-3D variant? If that were the case, would the Lyrans still use "Galahad" when discussing the Clan-built derivative of the Galahad or go with "Glass Spider"?
>>
>>96606620
It could go either way. Obviously by then everyone knows what the clan names for stuff are.

On the other hand, a Glass Spider 1 is an exact copy of the Galahad 2D that is slightly faster. People fighting the clans will just have to keep in mind the tarcomped pulse and PPC variants.
>>
>>96606620
The trend is the other way. Clanners largely use IS names in the IS after Bulldog. Like you see nearly all the Jade Falcons saying Thor instead of Summoner by the DA. CGL being a bunch of factchecking fuckups have been trying to reverse that in ilClan for some reason.
>>
>>96606457
Supposedly no. Each new generation is bred to be better than the ones that preceded them and their first ToP is their obligation to live up to that ideal, even if the odds are in their favor for the first pairi g at least. I remember that at the Phelan/NastyK ToP, the testees rode Dire Wolves while everyone else was at least five or more tons lighter, and in Alaric's ToP he rode an upgunned 70 ton Blood Reaper against either an Adder or Cougar at half that mass as first opponent, a 60 ton paperskinned Vulture as second, and the 100 ton shitbrick that is the Jupiter as supposed final enemy, though he shot out the Blood Reaper of his opportunistic sibkin instead.

Like half of the most wanted stuff from forge world is like 1999s material that 3D printers just never got scans of, I have some of the stuff from 1998.

I'm going to sell it soon but, it will be extremely upmarked given the extreme rarity of what i have.

RAYGUN GOTHIC IS NOT FUCKING REAL. IT'S JUST PUL SCIENCE FICTION. IT'S ALWAYS BEEN THAT. DON'T YOU DARE MISQUOTE THAT ONE GIBSON LINE DESCRIBING A DESIGN STYLE PRESENT IN THE FIFTIES. PULP SCIENCE FICTION. NAMED FOR THE STORIES AND COMICS PRINTED IN PULP MAGAZINES GOING BACK TO THE TWENTIES. But seriously, "Raygun Gothic" is as bad as just trying to add "punk" to everything. There are already names to describe these things. Don't give space to nonsense rebrands from people who don't know what they're talking about. Same as "Hopepunk". I've been to both BOYL and UTDF (multiple times for each even) and it's literally the same people at both events. Obviously BOYL has a "better crowd" of old timers who've got an encyclopedic knowledge of every article published in every issue of white dwarf, Kev Adams shows up, John Blanche shows up, but the big blob of people playing Hellsreach in the centre tent are also going to be playing Mordheim at UTDF. I'll admit that they can be grating with some of the personality stuff, but they play games and they're willing to get on an airplane to show up to shit.

The game rules were perfectly clear, but some rules, when you try to imagine what they would mean in the fictional world, strain credulity and immersion. Like the fighter's "Come and Get It" is perfectly effective against INT 1 creatures that don't speak Common or human body language.

Things that would be serviceable in a more abstract card game or something.

This pillage game doesn't seem to have unit quality, and I have rulesets with just as many pages and words or way less, and they effortlessly have quality.

Is it just the super low unit count or?

Bondi "Warriors" is theme accurate so you can see the LLM is digging into its Norse warfare datas. As opposed to "Archer/Skirmishers" where the LLM simply dug into its how to wargame database and couldn't be bothered with the dress up anymore.

Well, what is Quality trying to abstract in your games? My understanding is that Pillage lets you kit out your men one by one so there's not much to abstract. Assuming combat readiness is already factored in the troop type and willingness to fight into the pillage roll novelty-thing, of course.

Sorry if I talk like a fag, it's one of those days for me.

I'm a big fan of Ravenfeast, but like >>96603270 says, it's a little simple. I personally have written an A4 sheet of rules tweaks and additions to give it a bit more depth, and it gives it just enough additional meat to allow for some more interesting games. It's all stuff like rules for burning houses, securing plunder, that sort of thing, as well as making movement pseudo-random to enable some more command and control stuff.

They're so used to the miserable shit weather of the Br'i'sh Isles that they are unfazed by simple fog.

Do you guys know any games about BVR combat? Lots of dog fighting games out there, but I'm looking for something that might approximate more modern air combat. I'd imagine it would be pretty abstract and not popular, but I can't find anything.
