Welcome to /2eg/, a thread dedicated to all things 2nd Edition D&D related - including settings, lore, modules, and derived systems (Alternity, Buck Rogers XXVc, For Gold and Glory, Hackmaster, Myth and Magic, and more).

Since 2e draws heavily from earlier editions, older modules are welcome too. Other media derived from AD&D (such as Infinity Engine video games) also has a home here.

It's what you play, not how you play it. RAW or homebrew, as long as your table is having fun, there's no wrong way to play.

There's a surprisingly complete 2e fan wiki for rules stuff, it's excellent for quick reference:
https://adnd2e.fandom.com/wiki/Advanced_Dungeons_%26_Dragons_2nd_Edition_Wiki

They're a
>no bad tactics only bad targets
sort of narcissist. A whole bunch of them got into osr via indi creative artfag games. Which was extra lame to watch happen because I even like some of the artfag stuff but the psychological baggage and conflict they bring with them is cancerous.
>>
>>97822879
I mean I guess. Seems kinda pillowfisted to me
>>
>>97821816
You won't get any disagreement from me that Dark Sun's adventures are shit lol. I stocked my sandbox with stuff like B4.

I'm very familiar with the changes between 1e and 2e (especially Gold for XP) and how they change the game's incentive structure. My contention is the changes are no more significant than something like ACKS or LotFP, and that 2e does still support that classic style play and even released products adventures towards it! In my eyes, significantly increasing the dungeon exploration speed does was less to change the style of game than stuff like LotFP's overhaul to the fighter. Dungeoncrawling and hexploration is definitely a minority playstyle in 2e, but it is still supported.
>>
>>97822112
1 isn't really working, I see no reason why 2 will work any better. 3 would just be scaling up the existing problem, since I don't think schizo is even the only guy who has trolled /osrg/ to try to get it bring 2e back in. Sadly, I don't really see any resolution for this.

>>97822236
My issue is when I want to talk about the modules in 2e that are actually good in the context of a classic-style hexcrawl in /osrg/, I'm only going to get hit with thoughtless "2e is not OSR" shit.
>>
>>97821799
>>97822611
>>97822620

Dude, me and this other guy aren't just the same person samefagging, I promise. I've even posted an image to try to prove it, though, admittedly, yeah I could have just edited the page I guess?

I'm not "pretending to be reasonable", I'm legitimately trying to act in good faith here. Not necessarily because I think the guys who have taken over /osrg/ are genuine. I've caught people over there doing some really duplicitous shit. I'm trying diplomacy because the two sides of this argument haven't accomplished anything by throwing their turds at eachother for the past half year. Myself included, I'll admit that I've been part of the insults in the past. I've definitely seen /osrg/ posters acting in bad faith, but I don't think every single guy crossposting from there is doing so or is part of what still looks to me as brigading.

Again, I am on your side, I want 2e back in /osrg/. However, you being indiscriminately paranoid and accusing everyone trying to be civil of be a secret /BROsr/ agent just makes our case look worse. I just want a solution to the past six months of fighting, so I can post about my stuff without receiving a "2e is off-topic" or having to wade through hours of trolling and counter-trolling like keeps happening in the alternative threads.

It could have made sense, in a parallel dimension where GW had long established that different guard regiments with clearly defined equipment and vehicle restrictions exist.
There, it could just happen that a regiment simply has no access to chimeras, so they need a transport and for whatever political or logistical reason, they are supplied by a forge world with an STL for that particular vehicle.
But GW never bothered to flesh their regiments out like this, so this will just have to be your head canon, or you ignore the new transport.
I'm certain guard is playable without it just fine for years to come.

In regards to the command vehicle. I agree that it looks nice, but a chimera chassis salamander command tank would have done the trick as well.

Gearhead thread but for /tg/

Part of why I like to play ttrpg's is the analog aspect. I prefer to keep all digital things out of the experience. No laptops, ipads, phones at the table. Well, an exception can be made for googling something quick, but other than that, keep that shit in your pocket.

I like to do my gm prep, world building, drawing maps, in notebooks. npc and character sheets etc.on paper.

I really like MUJI stationery. Their notebooks are really nice, and their pens and pencils are amazing.

I recently found some hex paper notebooks on amazon. That was really nice to use to draw some hex maps.

Do you have any neat stationery or other analog "gear" that you really like? Could you share some of your cool items or showcase your note taking system or maps or whatever?

I got myself a binding machine so that I could print out pdfs and have physical stuff at the table. It's a good way of saving money if you tend to hoard a lot of pdfs but don't want to constantly shell out for things you don't know if you can get to the table. Also very satisfying to use.

Nobody likes you, zoomoid. Attending a social event only to sit absorbed in your little pocket narcissism validator, dragging down everyone else's enjoyment and disrespecting their time is cunt behaviour that nobody else likes and, ultimately, destroys groups. That's why I host five game nights a month(4 wargaming nights, one RPG session) in my home game room and literally had to implement a waiting list because so many from the local club wanted to come, while the RPG groups that try to form *at* the club which has no rules prohibiting faggots from preening themselves endlessly collapse within five sessions.

The >>>/tg/hwg thread doesn't entertain fantasy (for good reason) and the other threads are locked to more specific games.

Deadzone, Dragon Rampant, Dropfleet and Dropzone Commander, Freebooter's Fate, Frostgrave, Gaslands, HeroClix,

I overhauled all of the classes. Fighter has:
>5 Skill Proficiencies (My overhauled classes pick from the whole list, Rogues get 6, Fighters get 5, other martials get 4, Half-casters and bard get 3, Full casters get 2)
>Maneuvers (1st, new, 2 d6s, 4 maneuvers, +2 dice and maneuvers times at later levels for a max of 10 maneuvers and 8 d6 dice, battlemaster's dice improve and they get more dice and maneuvers)
>Strikes (1st, new, based on 4e's Martial Powers, specifically the AoEs and a couple of new skill-focused options that scale in damage at later levels)
>Superior Weapon Mastery (2nd, reworked Mastery feature, Any Weapon the Fighter has Mastery for has its damage die increase if it's lower than a d6, and the damage scales from 1d6 > d8 > d10 > 2d6 at the same levels as Monk's die)
>Martial Talents (2nd, new, think warlock invocations for martials, they get 2 and +2 every 3 levels after)
>Martial Knowledge (3rd, new, +1 Skill proficiency and another at 10th, along with an expertise at these levels)
>Martial Might (3rd, new, one size larger as per the racial feature, increase again by one size twice, once each at later levels, add STR mod to Acrobatics, Stealth, and Intmidation checks)
>Multi-Attack (5th, replaces extra attack, [Prof Bonus - 1] attacks per Action, stacking -1 penalty to attacks beyond the first.)
>Power Attack (5th, new, Once per Round, gain + Prof bonus to damage with weapon/unarmed attack you hit.)
>Heroic Resistance (7th, new, Once per Long rest auto-success on a save, increases to 2 uses at 11 and three uses at 18)
>Indomitable (9th, reworked, now adds half prof bonus to saving throws you lack proficiency in)
>Peak Performance (11th, new, age 10x slower, cannot be magically aged, STR/DEX/CON/Max HP cannot be reduced)
>Unbreakable (17th, new, immune to Charmed and Frightened).

GURPS is a modular, adaptable system, capable of running a wide range of characters, settings, and play styles, with a level of detail varying from lightweight to completely autistic.
Optional rules allow you to emulate different genres with a single system, or even switch genres within a single game.

A nearly complete archive of GURPS books can be found by using the image. Never post direct links to the archive anywhere in plain text.

If you're wondering where to start:
- The Basic Set covers everything, including a lot of optional rules you probably won't use.
- A genre guide can be found in the archive, under Unofficial/GURPSgen. It tells you what extra books and articles you may find useful for many common genres.
- How To Be a GURPS GM is a good read even for players.
- GCS (gurpscharactersheet.com) is an excellent character-builder software, with page references to all the books and the option to export to both Foundry and Fantasy Grounds.

In the same thread as this, Kromm also says
>No, it was thought out at great length. In fact, it was the subject of two hours of phone calls and a lot of playtesting. It's fine as it is. People might not like the fact that going fully on the offensive means you either kill your enemy or he kills you – and boy, he had better not have pals – but that's death for you. The real issue here is with Berserk, not All-Out Attack, and whether it's fair to get +4 all the time. I tend to agree that it isn't . . . personally, I think that switching Berserk to Committed Attack would be the fairest tweak.
Which I think is actually also a great ruling.
IMO either double the number of points berserk gives or change it to committed attack.

The /btg/ is dead! Long live the /btg/!

Nagash was also a human, and he accomplished something no other mortal ever managed, which was creating a wholly new class of magic. He became truly immortal and powerful enough to make the chaos gods shit themselves in fear for what he could do.
Meanwhile the emperor, no more than a literal corpse, is stuck keeping a warp portal closed. People say he's fighting the gods but that's not what's actually happening. He's just holding a portal closed and channeling that power into the astronomicon.

I think it's a combination of it being a vocal minorito and/or just dedicated shitposters that wouldn't contribute anything even if we did what they ask for. The anons that put in actual effort tend to just be silent outside of MP interaction and writing, the identifiable ones at least. They also tend to give more constructive criticism to new MP proposals and help with coming up with settings. We also have the periodical cyoag invaders, but those are pretty easy to spot.

Honestly I want to write but I'm really busy too. Doesn't help that my team is #7 so I have no idea what the other teams will have done in order to pass the baton to mine

Your team is also the one being pursued, so I guess you can start thinking about that? The parts should be relatively stand-alone, but we could write them without the switch parts first and add them later.

I guess that's true, although it'd be kinda weird if the last one is the first to be posted, right? Nekomaru would opt for stealth, since he can't just run off by himself, but I'm sure Kisui or Kazuyuki have other ideas for traps. I can see Kisui being the brains, Nekomaru being the speed and Kazuyuki being the brawn. Plus, they're also gonna have to cross a big stretch of water, right?
