The real crazy powerlevels are way up even for our potentialmen builds.
>>97174903
The fist is definitely legit, but that doesn't mean a build can do that just because they have it, it's described as the pinnacle of the technique so it will take time to get there. Less time for some.

If an Earthly Hero did it, maybe? Our builds are probably more like the characters in a Dynasty Warriors game.

>For the cultivators: What’s your build’s daily life like?
Wen spent a lot of time painting or browsing galleries from artists she invited to visit her. She's a tough critic to please, because the things she appreciates most are in the technique, but presenting a painting with no deeper substance or meaning will offend her. So she tends to give incorrect or incomplete advice on what she actually wants.

Wen is a lot less critical of the musical arts, appreciating anything that doesn't sound totally discordant. She would enjoy Jian's performances, especially while doing busywork making talismans.

>Where does the Xun clan live, specifically? Do they have a palace? A castle town of sorts?
Wen's branch of the family controls a castle town, on one of the major passes between the core Northern territories and the further north along the Ghost Domain border.

More recently, she left to help plan fortifications and draw up wards, passing off her work as her husband's. Now she's likely in a guest room in the manor of some local mayoral-equivalent.

>Those who follow the Martial Path, how does your build feel about having children?
It is the duty of her station to produce the next generation for the Clan. It is not a question of if or when, but how many. On the one hand, more heirs means more cultivators for the Xun, but on the other hand it invites rivalries and questions of inheritance.

>Which other builds techniques would your build want to learn? Are they willing to ask or do they just covet it quietly?

I like that level of power. It's still pretty high, they can do some crazy shit in some of the games, but also feels more grounded.

It's difficult to explain why exactly I dislike it so much. It would be fine as a novel way of giving characters titles if they hadn't overused it to death. It's become all the more obnoxious with the crossover sets and proliferation of commander because now every second card uses this convention

How to make a setting feel like it's not a not!x setting?
I recently got some of my friends into GURPS. They wanna play a fantasy setting for their first experience. I want to make sure the setting feels like it's own and doesn't feel like the characters are exploring not!europe or not!england. I've been told this was a bit of a problem in my previous pathfinder campaign
How do I make the setting feel like it's own thing without the players feeling like they are just going through the real world?
12 replies and 1 image omitted. Click here to view.
>>
>>97167813
Make it a not!x where x is a bit of media they are already familiar with, instead of a country.

The simple fact that a lot of people obsessed with "originality" miss is that your players NEED a touchstone to inform their impressions of your setting. A game with no common touchstone is a game that is essentially unplayable, reducing the players to props that you invite to the table so that you can vomit LORE at them every time they try to do something that you say can't happen because of a fiction in-universe event 400 years ago that they didn't know about yet.

England-but-[thing] is just as valid as The-Witcher-but-[thing], or Star-Wars-but-[thing]. You are not writing a book or directing a movie. You do not have a wealth of time to describe things or the tools of a visual medium to establish a lot of things non-intrusively. If your players are to be able to act in your world without you holding their hand, they need to have a vision in their head of that world that more or less matches yours, and that CAN'T HAPPEN if your world is too "unique" in its worldbuilding because that leaves them at a loss as to what to compare it to as a conceptual framework.

Give them something that they can easily digest first, and then build your more unique elements on top of that. The players will always appreciate the convenience of understanding whats going on and what to expect over having a setting that is designed by someone TERRIFIED of being linked to a Tvtropes article.

I figure Orlok biology is pretty loose, not completely restricted to their eusocial system. Within their nest, they do probably get raised individually by foster parents, the queen is just the original source for most of them and able to make Orlok of all different castes. The little reproductive males get completely absorbed by the queen and I have some old unused art (no room for it in the final book, and its quality needed updating anyway) of a queen covered in the remnants of absorbed mates, like a deep sea anglerfish.

Other NPC's respawn as needed narratively.

my rules works like this:
you have 'land' cards and common cards (hero/minions/creatures, spells, relics/equip cards, etc..)
like in duel masters, you can use all your cards as a mana pool. the idea I was developping is you have land cards. when you play them, it stay on field. and you have the common cards that can be played as mana in your mana pool but after using/tapping/consum them, it goes to the gy.
sorry I didn't understand your post, I'm a brainlet

What is the principal difference in unit design between Vampire Counts and Tomb Kings?
As far as I can see, Vampire Counts are more elite (although that may change if Grave Guard or Blood Knights get nerfed, as Wailing Dirges were). They lack big monsters and shooting, but have strong duel-oriented heroes and good cavalry. Tomb Kings, on the other hand, seem to have more "trap" (weak or inefficient) units, and even their good units are not particularly strong. However, they do have shooting, war machines, and big monsters. Chariots are not my thing, so I'm excluding them from consideration. Tomb Kings also can't really "tank" a hit with their infantry - "elite" Tomb Guard are worse than Grave Guard, and "horde" Skeleton Warriors are more expensive Zombies (and can't be raised over their initial numbers). Archer bricks don't work that well anymore, after the poison nerf. That said, this is only the current state - tomorrow Grave Guard might be nerfed as well, so relying on a single strong unit is probably unwise. Everything good eventually becomes bad.
Overall, playstyle is probably what I should be focusing on. However, I haven't played either faction, nor have I watched them played.
Could you offer some advice? Between Tomb Kings and Vampire Counts, what is the principal difference?

What do y'all hope will be on the next banlist? Genesys or Advanced, as while only the former is confirmed for Monday, it feels like both are going to be coming out around the same time.
>>
>>97174634
I hope they don't cave to the crybabbies by hitting Droll.
>>
>>97174757
If you are talking Genesys, Droll is getting hit. It's one of the very few cards mentioned in both the Bologna recap as well as the What to Expect update. I expect that it's going to at least 10, possibly higher.

And before you start to mention people making a lot of searches, Utopia is the biggest example of that sorta style and it has had several cards in the main and extra mentioned in the What to Expect, so combo extending searchers are also gonna get hit.

Additionally, handtraps and similar interruptions or field clearers are going to be getting a buff, as counters to them such as Crossout Designator and Traptrix Rafflesia (via setting an activateable Floodgate Trap Hole) are also preconfirmed to be hit. So while you may not be playing Droll, the ones you do play will be actually resolving more.

As they stated in the Bologna blog, from the data they have, the problem is both Droll and what Droll is countering.

I have the stupidest concept party ever, but it only works with the 2014 rules because of how the wording of a certain feat was changed going into the 2024 rules.

If you have a character concept that works with only one version of the rules, like the 2014 smites or the 2024 two-weapon fighting, how do you and your group resolve this at the table?

I tell people which edition we’re using ahead of time. I assume most groups would do the same.

If you mean you want to make a concept work for one edition when we’re playing a different one I’d just say no. It’s like one anon who said his DM said the spell doesn’t work that way because that’s not how it works in pathfinder. It is a completely moot point as we’re not playing that version of D&D.

Third for GURPS. Especially if you use Combat Writ Large from Pyramid 3/77. Being huge makes you easier to hit, but gives you a discount on Strength, bonuses to grappling, bonuses to melee reach, and (if you're big enough) turns your melee attacks into Area Effect attacks and lets you trample over foes just by moving over them. Also, if you deal enough damage, then you can send foes flying with the Knockback rules. If using Combat Writ Large, then there are also rules for climbing onto a bigger creature, so giant characters can even become their own battlemap.
>>
>>97166949
Mutants & Masterminds. Because it has probably the most streamlined, consistent and easily applicable system for punting people, buildings, ships and even planets. No matter what it is you can easily see if your character capable of punting it and how far. You can easily have a giant brawl in the middle of the city with giants throwing each other left and right, toppling buildings, squashing humies and throwing horses at each other. Or shoving a bell from the church tower over the head of your opponent and ringing it.
