Does anyone have a good suggestion for a base system to build a solo-game where a PC's strength is dependent on harem building? For instance, having the primary power system be copying or enhancing the abilities of harem members.

Recently I was thinking about alternative combat systems.I remember someone talking about instead of HP the payer has a Jenga tower and he needs to remove peaces once hit, the skill is to remove peaces without the tower collapsingSo I started thinking. For example what if the combat somehow involves cups and balls?Instead of a D20+modifier nonsense why not change it up? Why not give a player 10 balls or legos or whatever and to win an encounter the player needs to land 2 balls in 1 cup? There can be variants of this like a super hard encounter demands the player lands all 10 balls or what about reducing the size of the cup with the difficulty of combat? What if we implement a fate system from Talisman for the players? What if legendary bosses have something like that for themselves? And can negate the players victory? What if different monsters use different "balls" like for example some bone golems will be you throwing legos into cups and zombies are aluminum balls while naga can be gummy bears? That actually makes the monster feel different and not a copy pasted set of numbers. Also the different aerodynamics of these "balls" are part of the fun.Comment too long. To combat this, you could have a generous mulligan rule, or as an option, you could let players 'go gravedigging' on their turn, sacrificing all other actions to, for example, turn the top 5 cards of their deckinto their graveyard. It kind of reminds me of the 'Exert' rule from the old Highlander TCG. Alternately, you could always just start the game with X amount of cards in your graveyard. I played the original and have a bunch of expansions from an old Kickstarter, but never played the expansions. The core (original) game is a bit basic and amounts to a bit of a beer and pretzels level of game without much depth to it. I kinda want to layer on some additional rules to it but probably should look at the expansions first to see if they add any additional rules and not more monsters, maps, and items. I'm currently dumping my energy into tinkering with my FDM printer and making 15mm war gaming stuff right now though. Oh yes, I'm also ass pained at how that one sci fi game Sodapop did turned out. >>97263909>>97263729The slimmer one isn't from Clan War, he's one of the early miniatures for L5R (the card game/RPG side). See: https://www.nobleknight.com/P/2147421592/Hida-SukuneActual Clan War minis were closer to 30mm scale (like Zenit's stuff), but very robust. They only had two poses on the rank-and-file guys. Otherwise quite good models. If you keep a sharp eye out on auction sites you can still find minis quite cheaply, they were in active production from a guy who bought up the molds until just a few years ago. Shadowlands stuff is the real bitch, Zenit and - bizzarely - Ral Partha Europe are the only people with any undead samurai and bakemono/nezumi are basically impossible to find. Naga only got about half their releases before Clan War went under, as well. Reaper did some promotional stuff with the license in the late 1990s. I have a couple of them, you could get a promotional Emperor Toturi and pet bird for subscribing to Inquest, and a few things like one of the Geisha are still in the Reaper catalog to this day. They did some more recent runs of models for the RPG and Lootcrate that are... less cheap. Those guys have a white blister and L5R branding. ...Also, while I was researching who wound up with the rights to Valiant Miniatures' stuff, I discovered a company called "5th Field" who seem to be archiving a whole shitload of old moulds. Including a Kobold whore. I'm genuinely shocked it's from Jason Weibe instead of Klocke or Kev White
>>97259559>>97260294it wasn't just the 1.5 kits. there were a ton of 2e kits that had some combination of insane assembly, unbelievably fragile models, weird scaling (like justice and the viks being fucked up), or just way way more pieces cut than there needed to be. there were only a handful of cases where they weren't a strict downgrade from the metals, and that mostly in the bigger monsters.I'll grant that they've gotten better with time, but they don't get a pass for all that. It's not like they ever reimbursed anybody for all that trash.
>>97264562It's probably a question of different expectation then, the M2e minis actually convinced me to buy plastic and I actually found Wyrd's large models/monsters to be the worst of their plastics.
I got an FDM printer lately and now I'm livid because I realised how fucking awful Pajeet47's prints are. Even with a 0.4 nozzle you can print smooth surfaces with great detail as long as you go with the lowest layers possible. Scenery, tanks, scatter terrain - none of those have to look like carved wood if you are willing to use just a little bit more of material and wait for a bit longer as well. I won't even mention how much the quality improves with a 0.2 nozzle.
