We have scheduled sessions for peak times when everyone is expected to be there, but then we have the flexibility to work through combat or side conversations the whole week. It's pretty snappy, so far, but I think it's mostly working for us because it's a group of four.

Honestly, FATE. Combat can get kind of samey (as in shounen) but basically you can do whatever the fuck you want, and if you can't, you take a few turns Creating Advantages so you can use those aspects to then win the fight in a big hit.
