Hollowood Gert is hot.
>>
>>151720881
Even when I was only casually reading issues here and there I still heard waves of the shit that was stirring because of that initial "Gert leaves FairyLand arc" I know it pissed off a lot of readers. What I really don't get is how Skottie thought that would be a good idea. Surely he knew that would piss off long time readers and just as fucking annoying for anyone reading too. There's rug pull humor and subverting expectations and then there's just wasting a character.

Let me tell you one word. Timing.

To close out a trilogy, you want as much attention as possible, so a summer release makes the most sense.

Next year, 2026, is the World Cup, so a lot of attention will be there. 2027 feels too soon to have a third film ready. 2028 is the Olympics, hosted in Los Angeles of all places, so another packed summer.

That leaves 2029. I’m leaning toward July 2029. June could work too, but July 2029 sounds better.

Yes but why did you take the mental gymnastics route of "they won't release Zootopia 2 because of the World Cup and the Olympics" instead of the more sensible route of "movies take about three years to make, so it will be released in three years." For fucks sake Toy Story 5 is releasing next year, why didn't Disney delay that because of rhe World Cup?

I know he meant he wanted to release in 2029 you clown, but why the fuck would he bring up 2026-2028 events if there's zero correlation between those events and the release of Zootopia 3 in 2029? That's like me saying "Halloween is in October. Mid-term elections are in November. That makes December the prime candidate to release Spider-Verse 3."
>>151723792
Nothing, but it doesn't make sense. Those events have never had any detrimental effect on the release of an animated film, so why even open the thread up with that connection

I'm curious to learn more about cartoon fandoms that existed in the early days of the internet, pre-2000 more or less

I've heard about the Tiny Toon fandom in particular and how batshit insane some of the early Usenet sites were back in the day, but did any other shows back in the 90's have a fanbase as crazy as they were?

>Aren’t the Simpsons VAs are the most overpaid VAs because they leveraged how iconic their voices are?
They actually used to have higher pay per episode but then had to have their salaries cut in order to keep the show going:
>"Until 1998, Castellaneta was paid $30,000 per episode.[35] During a pay dispute in 1998, Fox threatened to replace the six main voice actors with new actors, going as far as preparing for casting of new voices.[35] The dispute was soon resolved and Castellaneta began receiving $125,000 per episode until 2004, when the cast demanded to be paid $360,000 an episode.[35] The issue was resolved a month later,[36] with Castellaneta starting to earn $250,000 per episode.[37] Following salary negotiations in 2008, the cast received approximately $400,000 per episode.[38] In 2011, with Fox threatening to cancel the series unless production costs were cut, the cast accepted a pay cut to around $300,000 per episode.[39]"

Castellaneta voices Homer and multiple other famous Simpsons characters. The real horseshit part of the pay dispute is that all of the main cast got the same pay. So even though someone like Castellaneta has a big voice acting range and voices a bunch of different characters, the voice actress for Lisa gets the same pay even though she can basically only do the one Lisa voice. Which is just her actual speaking voice.

They literally did kill off Marge in one of the potential "Simpsons in the future" episodes where everyone is aged up and older. But it's just the TV equivalent of clickbait since the "Simpsons in the future" episodes tend to contradict each other pretty frequently.

For example that episode showed Marge dying before Homer. Yet another such episode showed Homer dying before Marge and then Marge marries Flanders. THEN Marge dies because the joke is every women Flanders marries ends up dead (also yet another future Simpsons episode had Maude Flanders alive in the future).

When you think about it, they actually appear in a lot of shit. Hawkman was a regular in the Superfriends show and appeared in that live-action Adam West Batman special. Hawkgirl was made into one of the original seven in the Justice League cartoon, Hawkman had a pretty big role in Smallvile, they appeared in the Arrowverse, Hawkman was in the Black Adam movie, and now Hawkgirl is in Gunn's Superman.

They are really really super easy to include in a team movie. They don't have weird expensive to portray powers, they don't require lots of explanation for existing or explaining what they powers are either. You can very clearly see what their powers are and what they are about without needing to explain shit. Makes them perfect for adding in extra team members in an ensemble show since they cannot take time to explain all the background characters. You see winged guy with a mace and know what's up.

They have wings, fly, and hit shit with a mace. They are the best possible entry level heroes for any director to stick into their show/movie ever.

>>151721150
I think it will be better than Korra and worse than ATLA.
That doesn't narrow things down much since the gap is a chasm.
>>
>>151723602
I kind of suspect they'll go with the Apocalypse situation itself basically being her doing the best option in a no-win scenario, but I do hope they still dare make the root cause of the Apocalypse be her fault.
Lets her be heroic, show she's grown(especially if the Apocalypse has old grandma Korra who acknowledges as much) but stay flawed.
Don't glaze her, don't tear her down either. Balanced portrayal.
>>
>>151721472
>>151721513
All three became toxic woke though. Korra was like ground zero for the woke epidemic and The Dragon Prince (now King) is like half gay relationships.
>The deaf lesbian general aunt Amaya has an entire arc about marrying Sunfire elf queen Janai
>Rayla has a parental relationship with Runaan and I guess by extension his husband despite already having parents.
>Queen Anya has two dead mothers (and of course one is black so she's obviously not biologically related to that one)
>Claudia dated the "pure of heart" tranny fart elf that is the only character besides Aaravos to straight-up kill someone
>Then there's that non-binary Sunfire elf who is certainly a woman
>>
>>151721150
If they drop the good versus evil dichotomy with the spirits then it has a chance. I'm guessing both Priya and her twin sister are avatars and it's possible Priya is actually the "dark" avatar because when Korra destroyed Vaatu he has to be reborn from Raava.
>>151721776
I actually really like Priya's design. Green eyes are beautiful and the melon and chartreuse go together wonderfully.
>>151723477
Well, I'm kind of glad they aren't doing Avatar but it's modern-day now, but I also hoped that was what they were going to do despite how cliche it would have been. The entire commentary would be about whether bending has value in the modern era. Korra made it clear mechs could do a lot of the same work as earthbenders. The lightning bending Mako employed to generate electricity for some fast cash was probably a short-lived job. I could only see water benders being of any value to society because of their healing abilities. There could have been a story to explore what happens if a genius water bender with incredible healing powers and blood bending skills doesn't want to be in the medical field.

>Huh, are kids going through puberty peak for animation or something?
It's the target audience for primetime family animated sitcoms. You can have kids as young as six following along and it's like a premonition of things to come for them. Few kids are going to understand whatever the fuck is going on in a world that's all adults. When you're that young, adults virtually speak in a foreign language. Taxes? Sex? Drugs? All of that is going over their heads.

How do they turn it around and get sales back up with manga kicking their asses? One of the major advantages of Manga is that they're self contained stories created by one man or woman and they have definitive beginnings and ends so the characters can grow and change and work towards an ending and you don't have to deal with 80 fucking years of continuity.
IDK what slop the kids are reading now, but historically a lot of popular mangas were distinctly japanese culturally.
Akira's about seething about WWII and the japanese government
Ghost in the Shell is about the increasing tech and stagnation of the late 80s and early 90s with the end of the japanese economic miracle
Innyuyasha is about japanese folklore
but then you run into the whole
