>>97280596>new dual kit for elite 5 man akhelian infantry>2 new cav units riding different animalswould genuinely flesh out IDK to where they need to be.
>>97278613Genuinely seems to be the explanation, the new backstory feels like something someone not overly familiar with the setting came up with and that noone told them redeemed were a thing until it was already too far in to course correct. They offer no reasoning for why neave has to have a dude following her around and murdering her whenever she finds out who she is, and have an idoneth ready to collect her soul as payment when she (inevitably, they believe) turns back to chaos again. They don't even have a reason for why everyone decides she's allowed to know her past without killing her now in s2, to the point bastian offers up a completely innocent UW character's soul in place of neave's when the idoneth wants to be paid. They were just fucking with her for no reason, i guess, and really hate that random other stormcast too
>>97278709>how can I feel better about thatIt's not a shining happy ending for that pairing, but you gotta learn more about the characters than just memes and read some stuff for youself. They broke up in the end times because tyrion drew the sword of khaine, as his character was always teased to do, and went violently insane like his ancestor did. They had a kid together, even when alarielle's firstborn should've been a child with the phoenix king, and that daughter's death + his inability to have been there to save her created a lot of the anger and anguish that drove him to the awful things he did during the end times. Alarielle was appauled at the things he did, especially to people they both cared about, and even knowing that after a certain point he wasn't in his right mind they couldn't reconcile. She mourned him greatly when he died, was the first person he spoke to after Teclis brought him back and purged the influence of khaine, but as much as they still cared for one another, some things can't be undone. In aos Alarielle is driven by a lot of that end times character development, she saw how fucked up the elves were and the terrible things they were willing to do, and moved on. She moved on by making her own children rather than looking for elves to rebuild their race like the other three did, and she took a new consort after growing to love someone else. It's pretty overt she still cares about Tyrion and still mourns her dead daughter, but she isn't bound by events from a world ago.>>97278764>>97278767Neither of these are really true, Alarielle did fuse with Ariel and took the mantle of Isha in the cyclical changing over of the elven pantheon, but she didn't become a new person or whatever. It's obvious she has some influence from that merging, like her seeing an insane Kurnous and feeling a connection to him that led to her growing Kurnoth from the noble parts of his corpse or her more fey-like changing of moods, but it's almost all Alarielle

Welcome to the Old School Renaissance General, the thread dedicated to first-decade, Gygaxian D&D, its faithful modern clones, and content created for use with them. Later editions (2e and newer) should be discussed elsewhere. And as we enter this happiest and newest of years, remember: 2e was never an old-school game, bait is for reporting, and fish is for smoking! Happy new year, grogs! Broadly, OSR games encourage a tonal and mechanical fidelity to Dungeons & Dragons played as intended by its creators from 1974 to 1983 — less emphasis on linear adventures and overarching metaplots and a greater emphasis on player agency. If you are new to the OSR, welcome! Ask us whatever you're curious about: we'll be happy to help you get started. We also have two excellent beginner guides created by Anons with feedback from the thread that you can check for help: >n00b DM's Guidehttps://pastebin.com/EVvt6P0B>n00b Player's Handbookhttps://pastebin.com/XALkXkV0 >Troves, Resources, Blogs, etc:http://pastebin.com/9fzM6128 >Need a starter dungeon? >>97279989Depending on how gonzo you want to get Misty Isle of the Eld is in that range. Halls of the Blood King is 3-5 and a not quite cooked vampire mansion. Needs a bit of work imo but good base. >>97279021>how do you run an osr-adjacent game without magical healing? In ItO games you have 1d6hp that recovers with minimal resting but all attacks hit. Damage above your hp is taken down from your stats. Functionally what is called "HP" is actually consumable AC. If your stats go down you roll under your new lowered stat and if you fail it's a crit. I don't recall how it goes in ItO but in this one crit damage means you're down until someone takes an action to help you. People went down and up all the time. Any hit has a high chance of downing you, anyone can pick you up, you are constantly more and more likely to go down with any hit. That aspect went pretty good, the players had multiple options and tried things I doubt they would in other settings/systems.The mechanics for automatic weapons are also pretty good and in-line with the system. You roll a die for each target and everyone gets the lower one. That means each new target probably lowers the damage, but after a couple rounds all HP is spent so any damage could be critical and get them out of the fight. It was a decent one shot. I just wish I had some better way to make players adapt to a different genre. I recalll 100 Bullets being more grunge than glam. I wanted that Phil Collins playing over a shoot out kind of vibe, the closest players got was wantign Push It To The Limit playing all the time. But I read like over a decade ago.
>>97279136>I don't recall how it goes in ItOSimilar but deadlier. Failing a critical damage roll means you're out of action until someone else gets to you and you have a short rest to restore HP. If no one gets to you in an hour you're dead. Sounds like the Miami 86 helping each other up is faster and fits the fleshwound action run and gun vibe. Combat in ItO can get very deadly very quickly if enough party members get hit and taken out of action. Tends to result in TPK or a few survivors running away in my experience. Might try the 86 method next time.
I'm looking to run Dead Weight for Mothership as an introductory one-shot. Does anyone have experience in tracking/progressing time as the ship falls apart? I'm particularly aware that as written Renato’s body breaches the reactor two hours after the incident. I'm leaning to have this occur about halfway through the night, with the activities needed to jettison the pearl artificially eating up in-game time so the climax at the seventh hour comes at a faster real team pace. However, having the player's work up until that point undone is a bit of a risk.
>>97280269It makes sense. ItO wants you to avoid combat as much as possible, M86 really wants you to get a shoot out with the cops. There's also rules for chases, very small, but they're there and you get some example cars and boats so you can use them as reference. It's a nice ItO clone, nothing crazy, but covers some bases in case you didn't know how to approach them and has some nice inspo. I also got it from the share thread so it's a lot for free.
>>97280484Secret countdowns never worked for me. You could go the BitD route and have a pizza slice clock on the table, more gamey and players can act accordingly to clear canonical information.I usually lie a bit because anything you do to inform them of stuff they shouldn't use to decide is gonna break immersion. At that point just make it as dramatic as possible.

>>97278088>other ruling question is does Dark Ruler No More prevent Mirrorjade's leave the battlefield effect? No. It's easier to understand when you conceptualize cards as separate instances when they activate their effects in different locations, rather than the same card which had effects applied to them in other locations. The instance of Mirrorjade that was on the field had its effects negated by the effects of Dark Ruler No More. The effects of Mirrorjade in the GY or banishment did not.Of note; If you return Mirrorjade to the Extra Deck, its effect doesn't trigger. Same applies if Mirrorjade is banished face-down, because they are face-down.

>>97277430MtG didn't use to be this way until EDH became the most popular format. When playing MtG casually meant taking a Standard deck to your weekly FNM, proxies were not allowed as it was a sanctioned tournament. Since EDH is a casual format, people never really gave a shit and that sentiment remained, fortunately. The price of MtG singles since the advent of Commander has increased dramatically, where even your average casual deck non-proxied will run you fro. $250-$500, unless you're explicitly playing a budget build. I unironically switched to playing YGO as my primary card game as it is far more affordable these days.

Selling games is pathetic. Either throw it out or gift it to a friend, charity, or boardgame cafe
What was your first game of 2026, anons? Earlier today I played Arnak for the first time, 2p game with my wife. I quite enjoyed it, thought we wouldn't get to do all too much seeing as there's only 5 rounds of 2 worker placements each, but there was enough to do with card actions and misc. free actions. I think I'll get the expedition leaders thing soon. Also looking forward to playing with 3 or 4 people to see how it differs with numbers of location tiles and competition for sites.
>>97280466I won't say it's pathetic, but if you have anything like a decent income it's simply not worth the time. Giving them away is the best option, and could get you laid too. Before you ask, I'm giving away games to a school where a friend of a friend is a teacher. She was interested, and unfortunately I'm not available. Still, that's one avenue for you lonely fellas out there.
>>97280466>>97280595I'm usually far too lazy to bother selling my stuff, but my local club does a buy/sell/trade table so I usually put them on there for a few quid and if they're not gone after a couple of sessions I'll give them to a charity shop.
>>97280595The next level of this is just volunteer playing board games with people who are receiving mental/physical support in hospital or agency setting. You'll meet a ton of people, especially women. But no one actually wants to go through the effort of being prosocial. I get a lot of people who want to volunteer because they think my clients are projects to 'fix' and want to feel like superheroes by doing fuckall for a couple weeks before disappearing>>97280632Ive done something similar where if I don't have anyone who i can specifically give a game to I put it up at my spot and just ask for people to put their name and then raffle it. Its prosocial and builds community for zero effort but I dont do it anymore since I dont buy games I dont play often and keep
