>6 editions of Warhammer underworlds
>7 Horus Heresy Books (and both editions of HH Table top)
>2 editions of AoS (and both Cursed city and Darkwater)
>2 editions of 40k
>All of Kill team since the Kreig/Kommando revamp

Why would we do that? AoS is in the worst place it has ever been, arguably worse than 1st edition if you actually care about playing the game.

Him strikes me as Unknown Armies movie.
Like, the central conflict seems to involve what basically an Avatar, maybe even a Godwalker.
>>
I’m working on a horror scenario, care to help out with suggestions?

The Premise: the player characters are all "test subjects" (probably former military, ex-cops, criminals, lone drifters and such) that were kidnapped or otherwise imprisoned by a sinister conspiracy of unknown nature or goals. They participate in "experiments" to "stress test" the conspiracy's "projects." Present day real world setting, on the surface.

Any ideas for monsters, unnatural tech, twists, set pieces, testing grounds and scares?

Interesting… how about Warpfire guns, they any good?

I would like to talk about the Chronicles of Darkness game line Deviant: The Renegades, or more specifically, one major upcoming supplement. Deviant was released in late 2021, and has had three additional sourcebooks since then. A new supplement, Black Vans, has been in playtesting for a while, and is currently being previewed.

I am not being paid or sponsored to promote this book in any way. I am just very fascinated by it, and indeed, I already ran a mini-campaign using the playtest material.

Deviant is, by default, a game about playing angsty, scarred superheroes who either fight world-manipulating conspiracies or work for them. Black Vans is a toolkit full of variant rules, quick NPC creation, variant character types, and variant genres. These variants range from the minor to the dramatic, completely overhauling what were once non-negotiable, foundational themes and mechanics. Maybe your character is not angsty or scarred at all, perhaps they are a """""regular human""""" like John Wick or Batman, or the campaign might have nothing to do with world-manipulating conspiracies.

These variant genres include cyberpunk, high fantasy, post-apocalypse, space opera, and superhero emergence.

This is a beefy supplement. For example, one chapter alone dedicates 38,000+ words to playing other monsters of the Chronicles of Darkness: Beasts, changelings, demons, Sin-Eaters, hunters (entirely separate from the variant rules for """natural""" superpowers), mages, mummies, Prometheans, vampires, and werewolves. No additional supplements beyond Deviant are necessary; the rules are self-contained, allowing the group to play a monster mash of an urban fantasy setting without needing a daunting 7+ books. And yes, they are supposed to be balanced against one another, so a vampire in the same group as a full-fledged mage is probably some older Kindred.

>trying to make a character from a destroyed noble house destroyed from said demons
>no info or lore or anything so just make one background that can fit in

>is there a map?
>he just gives me some random borders map that looks like it was generated from some website
>yeah choose a region where your noble house was from I'm still working on the details
>his username is some pretentious TheLoreMaster btw
>whatever as long as he can provide a good story as the game goes on

Though I agree a Kinfolk has it better overall, I'd still think for the most part a ghoul has it better in some ways. Even Blood-bonded ghouls still have families and often have jobs or hobbies, though it all takes a backseat to their master they still have to maintain the masquerade unless they get unlucky with a retarded vamp. Half of the time Kinfolk seem to be lucky to see their children, though conversely often enough Kinfolk don't actually need to interact with Garou at all if they're lucky. At the same time, most septs let you leave as a Kinfolk if you marry out of the nation unless you're unlucky to get one with population issues or Garou-brained conservative values.
Despite that, I'd say Revenant families > Kinfolk if you're willing to deal with being a Tzimisce's eventual butler/childe or a strict upbringing.

Hey, /tg/. I'm working on a concept for a thaumaturgist blood sorcerer. The biggest problem with this is that hermetic sorcery is big on True Names as a way to cut down on necessary reagents. When you have the True Name for something like unicorn horn, for example, you don't have to go look it up again. You can just commit it to a sigil and codify it as a pattern to invoke for further sorcery and it's as though you always had it there.

The problem here is there's no bonafide system in Thaumaturgy for mechanics to acquire True Names (this is for the V:tM system, not Mage, which could more easily spitball it.

I've been pondering a custom path of thaumaturgy for such a thing, but I'm not 100% on it. I'm thinking perhaps that the Path involved should be either Spirit Thaumaturgy, or perhaps Dur-An-Ki's Path of Suliman's Laws (Spirit Manipulation) and treating levels of that path as the levels of Rites that can be made to take the True Names of more potent and powerful spirits?

What do you think, /tg/? How would you make mechanics for a vampire blood sorcerer of hermetic thaumaturgy, (but not necessarily TREMERE) to take and catalogue True Names?

Trench Raiding With The Lads Edition

>What is Trench Crusade?
An alternate weird history 28mm/32mm tabletop skirmish game still in a pre-release playtesting phase but with the full release slated for this year. Based on the art and lore of Mike Franchina, whose illustrations you may have seen floating around on /tg/ for a several years now, and designed by Tuomas Pirinen, one of the original creators of Mordheim. It's grimdark, it's visceral, it's awesome, and it's very Blanchitsu.

>What Trench Crusade is not
TC not an excuse for you to discuss IRL religion, history that didn't occur in the game, culture war shit, or discord bullshit on /tg/. Keep it on topic.

>What's the QRD on the background?
The Knights Templar turned heretic and opened the Gates of Hell when they took Jerusalem during the First Crusade. Over 800 years later the war is still ongoing as technology has developed to a pseudo diesel-punk WW1 standard and a third of Humanity has sided with the Infernal Princes.

I'm not going to sugarcoat it, vanilla IS together with Fidai are two of the worst warbands from a power perspective. So you're going to struggle against pretty everything unless your opponents are leaning heavily into vibes/rule of cool with their warbands. Even then those types of units in HL/Prussians are likely to outperform most of your stuff anyway.

In ideal circumstances, your sniper is ignoring armour about 1/3rd of the time. This is wildly unreliable. Remember, New Antioch is a CQC faction, so the bulk of your faction's damage is going to be done in a 1-2 round period - if you need AP, then a 1 in 3 chance of ignoring armour is just not available enough.

Instead, you should give the sniper priest an auto rifle or SMG so they can stack blood reliably and kill soft targets quickly. Or you do the based thing and give the priest either 2 pistols and grenades or an autopistol and a pistol, which lets your priest be one of New Antioch's best melee units (since pistols act as clubs that use ranged +dice).

Sniper rifles are for models with middling shooting stats. Going from +4d to +5d on a sniper priest is a joke. Going from +0d to +1d and getting double the short range bracket on a rifle Yeoman is legitimately good.

>>97271734
I know they are at the bottom, found that out when I got btfo'd the first campaign by game 8 out of 11.
My primary issue was that I didn't have enough gunz and modelz to force injuries early on when a jezzail with alch. ammo was at peak performance. I lost the first 2 games badly; in one, both my bull and alchemist were OoA before even INJURING an enemy model. By then, I was so far behind, and other armies so far ahead, that catch up was improbable, and I was forced to use lions and absurd weight of fire to win objectives and force draws. I haven't gotten so fucked over since... well, it's been a long time since I felt genuinely hapless.
My new plan is to maximize my weight of fire advantage early while planning for later acquisitions. I am hoping for 2-3 glorious curbstomps to accrue ducats/glory to hopefully stay one step ahead of the others, and when they do catch up, break even by dint of early success.
>>
>>97272621
Funny thing is the best way to play IS is to build tall with House of Wisdom, take your lumps with a mediocre early campaign. And then pull ahead with the flexibility of weapon stealing and the Homunculi that you can add to as the campaign progresses and are super cheap to revive if they die.

yes when I gm, never when im a player. ive even play exclusively women in mmos, but i never think of myself as "roleplaying" in those games.
when im a gm, i do it to the best of my ability to build a world for my players.
as a player, i have no desire to play anything but a man. i don't really know how to explain it outside of "it feels weird" despite doing it all the time as a gm.

Why is this? Is it because it's easier to just self insert and disregard the on-paper character when it's a dude, while the foreign perspective of a female forces me to actually engage with the character concept?

- it has nothing to do with "true love", whatever may Scarlet mean by that;

Quick post. I'm doing expert commentary at the Brujah Primogen's fighting tournament.
One of the Bridgeport neo-nazis fell and broke his arm on his way to the ring.
The crowd is going insane, the paramedics are all black, I'm going to be history's first final death by laughter.
>>
>>97271530
Uuuuhh is this a thing? Can all sires turn childer to dust with a gesture? Asking for a friend.
>>
>>97273021
Most sires are not masters of fleshcrafting, but there are other equally deadly and painful disciplines a Cainite could use to extinguish their unruly progeny. So... 50/50? 70/30?
Heck my sire wouldn't even have to kill me to make existence an unliving hell, I could get turned into a pair of conscious boots if I do something unwise. I do not plan to do anything unwise, but they're a centuries old alien, so who knows if I even have that capacity in their eyes.
>>
I AM FUCKING INVINCIBLE HAHAHAHAHA
Didn't quite beat Jesus's resurrection time, but being alive at all is a good enough result for me!

>>97273021
Oh, nah, not at all. It's more a general 'can a vampire do that to somebody' thing, next to no special allowance for if the target's your childe. My Sire could do that to people, if he tried and prepared for it. He usually went for boiling people's blood, or striking them with lightning, which I've taken up, as it's objectively the most impressive. Same night he got torn apart, but like thirty minutes before that, he made a werewolf's bones grow spurs and spikes until it was this skewered mess of fur, flesh, organs, and very angry, growling, somehow just barely alive skeleton with innards falling out. The wolf obviously didn't live very long after, but it was a sight. Not sure how he did it, exactly. I'll be putting effort into figuring it out.

From what I've backread while listening to a woman who likes fishnets too much cackle at me and my overall misfortune, your Sire can probably just skewer you in a blink of an eye, so she kinda-technically qualifies under 'dust with a gesture'.

Even in the context of a 5e splatbook, the main thing of value within that book was the Piety rules for tracking devotion to a particular god. But even those are a little iffy. It doesn't even do the best job of delving into the details of the setting, sparse as they are.

I can almost entirely promise that anyone with a high school understanding of Greek mythology could probably come up with a better bronze age fantasy setting by themselves.
Even if for whatever reason you wanted to stick with Theros specifically, you'd probably get more mileage out of just looking up the four Theros sets on Scryfall and just going off of the art and flavortext. But again, you're competing with pic related in terms of originality.

It's better than the Strixhaven book, but that's about all the praise I'll give it.

Honestly Mork Borg is pretty fun as long as you take it as intended, i.e. not seriously. Cairn is absolute dogshit for attention-starved redditors though.

>>97264070
why? i only recently started reading up on osr and nsr stuff and cairn gets talked about pretty often

Cairn's fine, he's just being hyperbolic. Its main sin is lacking a distinct 'identity'. I prefer Errant as an evolved version of Cairn btw

around 40 something I think

>and that's why there is 50 pages of classes.
what games are you thinking of?
Cairn 2e and Bastionland have a lot of "classes" but it's more like backgrounds than a class.

It's called bait.
Cairn is just ItO with an extra rule for longer term damage, but 2e added some pretty nice procedures. People who skipped on B/X can use those to still have a mechanically engaging and consistent exploration system, it's debatable if they are the best but they are there and they've been throughly playtested.

Anon, the ONLY place I have seen any of this is on this website and subreddits based on e-celebs.
I don't take anything that is said that isn't about the game as anything worth noting, because it's all whinging internet talk.
I have 4 local dudes with 6 armies between us, some printed and some kitbashed, we are building terrain and have already completed an entire campaign.
If people you don't know on the internet can make you not want to play a game, I would broach to say you never really liked it, and that's alright. I just don't really get it.

Fellow chuds why should I not partake in this game? Aesthetically it allows for crusaders?

This is janny's pet topic holy shit. He'll ban you for any reason in the TC general and in any other TC thread too unless you treat the game like it's SERIOUS BUSINESS.

>why are TC players so defensive?
unless youre the manlet responsible for making it, i dont see why you would be defensive. more to the point this thread was obviously intended to shit on the game, if that bothers you why would you even read it?

Not at all, in fact I kinda prefer losing because I feel that encourages other people to want to play more.
