>Setting
Basically late medieval to early Renaissance Europe
>Magic
Not really available to players, expect in the form of extremely rare high level magical weapons and items. BBEG should possess magic abilities
>Player characters
European presenting male fighters only, maximum one low level hedge wizard or shaman
>Races
All NPCs and PC should be human, finding a non-human village like elves should be extremely rare, unlikely, and magical experience

[black and white, sketch-like] for anyone in a willing mood;

"In a damp, torch-lit cavern, depict a scene of grim captivity. Two dozen small, pale and hairless oortlings are herded against a rough-hewn wall, their large eyes wide with terror, kept in a tight, trembling pack. Dominating the scene is a single mind flayer, its illithid form imposing and cerebral, its tentacles idly coiling as it surveys its living larder with cold, psionic calculation. Flanking it are two immense, hairless mutant thralls: obese ogre-cyclops hybrids with sickly albino skin, a single brutish eye each, and crude clubs resting on their shoulders. Enforcing the perimeter are two bestial grimlock slaves, their eyeless faces sniffing the air, and two hulking, fur-covered quaggoth slaves, their claws and fangs bared, ensuring not a single oortling escapes its fate as future brain cattle. The atmosphere is thick with fear, dampness, and the promise of horrific consumption.

[black and white, sketch-like] for anyone in a willing mood;

also the "slime giant slave"

"A massive, vaguely humanoid mound of translucent ooze towers over 12 feet tall, its gelatinous form pulsing
and flowing with disturbing life. Within its crystalline mass, the partially dissolved form of a giant can be seen
—a frost giant, fire giant, or other massive humanoid preserved in horrific stasis. The giant's enormous limbs
are stretched outward through the ooze's body, massive hands reaching desperately toward freedom that will
never come. The creature's face, though dissolving, is frozen in a rictus of eternal agony visible through the
transparent slime.
A giant slime slave is an advanced form of the standard slime slave, created from a much larger crystal ooze and
requiring the sacrifice of a giant or other Large humanoid creature. The ritual is even more demanding and
creates a far more dangerous guardian. These massive oozes are prized by powerful evil priests and archmages
as guardians for their most important sanctums, particularly those near water or in flooded caverns.

[black and white, sketch-like] for anyone in a willing mood;
and the slime slave

""A vaguely humanoid puddle of translucent ooze squelches and flows as it moves. Within its gelatinous mass, the
partially dissolved form of a humanoid victim can be glimpsed—preserved in horrific stasis, limbs stretched
outward in eternal supplication. Though it acts under external magical command, its body is alive and secretes
paralytic slime to incapacitate intruders. On its own, it is incapable of complex decision-making.
A slime slave is not a true golem but rather a living crystal ooze that has been magically enslaved and shaped
into a roughly humanoid form through a horrific necromantic ritual. The creature's vaguely humanoid
appearance comes from the humanoid victim sacrificed during its creation—their body absorbed but not fully
digested, giving the ooze both its shape and a macabre warning to those who see it.
These creatures are created by evil priests and mages who serve dark powers associated with corruption,
dissolution, and subterranean domains. They are popular guardians for underwater temples, flooded dungeons,
and subterranean lakes.

Personally I don't like the explorer, I think it's too tied down to one region sadly.
I'm not sure how to fix it, maybe either a specific terrain bonus or 'Any hex you've secured a reasonable route through counts as known territory for you, doesn't have to be fully explored, you just have to have your bearings'

Those are pretty cool ideas anon. Shrimps suddenly sawing through the bottom of the boat is a fun way to start an encounter on open water.

I think stuff like Kuo-Toa and Sahuagin make for fun enemies, not sure why you're against them specifically. Your game though. I might have some Sahuagin show up in a game riding some kind of sharks. Or maybe were-sharks who arrive as mounts for the warriors, only to morph into their regular forms and assume leadership positions.

actually what is the scale of corruption for DH/DW/RT? I've only ran BC where the effects of corruption are much more granular and it gives you a better idea of how to award it but in other RPGs its just 100 you fall.

Generally my corollary has always been you don't get it just from proximity to warp stuff (excluding exposure to the raw warp itself) by interacting with it. I.e not from being near a ritual or dark tome but taking part or reading the tome (radical shit). For BC I generally only award it for mundane shit like dueling a powerful loyalist/rival in single combat or killing psykers for khorne unless they invoke the god and make their eyes fall on them. Obvious for more baroque acts that please a god or doing rituals, warp stuff etc. you are getting a point regardless.
>>
>>97227631
>but in other RPGs its just 100 you fall.
Not really, in DH and RT you do get malignancies at regular corruption intervals, which represent minor mutations and the PCs mind getting more and more twisted.
But a better guidline for how many should be awarded for what would definitely be useful.
That being said, I always though it's a bit wonky that there are both insanity and corruption points. Sure, on one hand a character can get just "regularly" insane without any contact with Chaos, but someone who is becoming strongly affected by the warp probably isn't exactly right in the head either. And I feel like many situations that would "award" a PC with corruption points tend to be so traumatic that they should give them insanity points as well (contact with warp entities or phenomena, witnessing a drastic ritual etc.). I just feel like those concepts are too intertwined to warrant 2 completely separate type of resource
>>
>>97227682
>too intertwined to warrant 2 completely separate type of resource
Why not? Just means that you also hand out insanity when you hand out corruption (if it's fitting), not the other way around.

Previous Thread: >>97090196

Welcome to /un0/, an RP thread for playing a World of Darkness/Chronicles of Darkness Hunter. For any OOC questions about WoD/CofD, check the official general. >>97224887

Rules:
>We are acephale. There is no storyteller, we are not a quest.
>This thread is based primarily but not exclusively in the nWoD/CofD game Hunter: the Vigil. However, Vigil is defined by being highly setting agnostic, with a system for creating entirely custom monsters that do not exist in other WoD/CofD games. Thus, you have significant freedom in what you want to play and what you want to hunt. Feel free to play a member of the Society of Leopold, or a member of the Lucifuge hot on the tail of a Lasombra.
>Namefagging is encouraged but by no means mandatory.
>Keep in mind that even highly experienced Hunters typically only have fractured pieces of the puzzle, and every table has their own canon. The night is dark and full of misinformation.
>/un0/ is conceived of as an experimental end to end encrypted program that is very hard to compromise, retains very little data and purges that data regularly. Please play an actual Hunter.
>Spoiler any OOC discussion.

Happy hunting.
Unless this thread somehow takes off like a rocket, this will be the last un0 thread for the foreseeable future. Towards the end of the thread, please give your feedback in regard to these shorter, limited run RP threads.

Yeah, the last few days have been quite something. I've been fighting an infection I got on the last hunt.

So we find this ship crewless, floating. Cyrillic name, oбильный, apparently it translates to "bountiful". Normal russian fishing boat, not out of the ordinary in these waters. I strap on the go pro and get my gun, we split into three teams. One goes below, one stays on the deck of the fishing boat, and one stays on our deck so nobody can sabotage or take it. The place looked bad, some blood stains on the deck, signs of a struggle. Down below was cleaner, but still real eerie. Everyone's gone, and whatever did it was smart enough to turn off their transponder, demolish the radio, and turn out the lights. I'm recording everything I can and trying to determine if the ship itself was a front, pretty sure it wasn't, when we hear a gunshot from up on the deck. Below team rushes up to see a half-dozen humanoids, dripping wet, straight out of the freezing Bering Sea rushing our boys. Good news is, bullets seem to work just fine on them. I nail one in the chest and it goes overboard, doesn't come back up. Then another hunter, guy I didn't know very well screams like hell. There's a squid wrapped around his neck biting deep with its beak. Someone rips it off and it starts running on its tentacles across the deck. I shoot it and it explodes, then one of the humanoids bowls into me. I got a good look at it. He used to be human, but his face is all fucked up. Webbed fingers too, and a weird scaley rash. Reviewing the gopro footage, he had a cyrillic tattoo, probably one of the fishermen. One of my cellmates takes a boathook to its eye and drags it off of me. The survivors all bail but the guy who got bit in the neck bleeds out, we couldn't stop the flow that thing chewed straight through his carotid.
>>
>>97227453
Then the boat rocks. We're all retreating back to our boat to bid a retreat and I shit you not I have footage of a massive tentacle arising out of the sea. I'm talking kraken size. We get the hell out of there, shooting the tentacles as we start speeding back towards land. During the escape I slipped and cut my hand like a motherfucker on something metal, real embarrassing way to take a hunting injury. Infection has me holed up, but I should be fine long term, and we want to keep our heads down after that anyway. Still, can't sleep well. Trying to figure out how to kill the kraken and its pelagic zombie servants. My cred in Net0 is going to shoot up from all this good footage but I feel pretty hollow about that. Getting the information out there is important, but I'm concerned more with the practical threat this thing poses.

That's what's been up with good ol' GNP. hope you all are having a better time of it out there.

honestly I find TQs a little immersion undermining for an RP thread like this.

Goodness, that is certainly a dreadful discovery. Were you able to learn anything about the start of the attack? Shame about the infection but that is certainly some excitement you got. I suppose if the kraken sticks to that one area, and you took some remains, you could find a mystic to lay a curse or three on it. Wither it to death and all that.

Welcome to the Old School Renaissance General, the thread dedicated to first-decade, Gygaxian D&D, its faithful modern clones, and content created for use with them. Later editions (2e and newer) should be discussed elsewhere.

Broadly, OSR games encourage a tonal and mechanical fidelity to Dungeons & Dragons played as intended by its creators from 1974 to 1983 — less emphasis on linear adventures and overarching metaplots and a greater emphasis on player agency.

If you are new to the OSR, welcome! Ask us whatever you're curious about: we'll be happy to help you get started. We also have two excellent beginner guides created by Anons with feedback from the thread that you can check for help:
