I feel like making something, ideally something OSR-adjacent. This is kind of an open-ended question: what RPG supplement or other cool thing does /tg/ want to see? Think something you'd pay between $3 and $5 for.I've got some game design and writing experience. I can handle graphic design and illustration (and sound too, if relevant). I just want some input on what you think might be cool. Trying to decide what to put a little time into.
>>96484988Funny enough, not that much of it! I mean there's some because the entire theocracy is women, but there's none of that weird fetishy drow shit. Dark elf women like dick. Now you could accuse me of a tf fetish, because dark elves are all artificial - they are born from an alchemical process that turns a human or demihuman child into a dark elf. I don't though.
>>96485322One weird thing about tg is that everyone is so used to being attacked that they just reflexively use works like accuse.
>>96489583In my defense I responded at 5 AM in the morning, so yeah it was a poor choice of words.
>>96463853FPBP. I wouldn't pay a cent, let alone for OSR slop.If your ultimate goal is profit, then you've failed at game design.
>>96463772Just make a new Rifts book.Way cooler than osr
Why do traditional games seem to attract the most socially undesirable people? Not trolling, I seriously would like to get to the bottom of this. I don't get it, tabletop games are social in nature so why do they attract anti-social weirdos, you expect these types to stay at home and video game. Why are some games MUCH worse that other when it comes to players, ie. Warhammer 40k is worse than historical Wargames, compared MtG to Chess, etc. Is there an explanation for this phenomenon?
>>96486188>why does a hobby that has been considered socially undesirable until extremely recently have socially undesirable people in itIt's a real mystery isn't it.
>>96486929Tolerance is a stupid concept. Things are either bad, and shouldn't be tolerated, or good, and why would you not tolerate good things? It's only a paradox if you decide that tolerance is a good in itself, which is pointless. As to what we shouldn't tolerate, it's the smellies. Total Smelly Death. Kick smellies out of game stores. Destroy a smellie's space marines. Mug a smelly while he walks back to his mom's car.
>>96486697>swedish homosexual roidder is a dark elf fagMakes sense really.
>>96488383ah, well go on ahead. i'll be there later, i swear...
>>96486188I know there’s a lot of dooming about undesirables in the hobby, buuuut. How does one not be an undesirable in this hobby beyond showering and shaving before going to the lgs?

The Stormlight books were released a couple weeks ago, what does /tg/ think of the game so far?
>>96489311I'm not going to derail the thread further by going into the details of shitty tabletop drama, but basically every assumption you made in that post about my situation is flat out wrong, and I sincerely hope you never have to deal with the exact people that crush that way of thinking like they did to me

>>96469133I don't think I'm gonna be miserable, I'm gonna be playing a game with my friends so it's not like it won't be fun. In general I think I'm very picky when it comes to fantasy in general, I like fantasy, but there aren't many fantasy franchises that I like if that makes sense. I feel like I tend to actually like more stock or tropey fantasy settings>>96469319Yeah for me I was kinda thinking like if I just ignore the art, then the world looks how I imagine. >>96489783The whole point of tow for gw originally was to keep selling old minis. Granted that may have changed now, but it's still going to take a while for all ranges to get updated to modern standards. Hell even aos still has armies with almost all old models left such as ogres (though I guess that is about to change. Beastmen also probably aren't a priority for gw.If you really want up to date AND gw produced minis you could source beastmen kits from other factions, tzaangors, slaangors and soon to be pestigors, theridons in the place of minotaurs, and so on. But for a new player that may be a little overwhelming.Tldr don't hold your breath
>>96489783I don't think they'll do anytime soon. They'll release more Cathay and then Kislev first.Have you checked 3D prints? A lot of people play with 3D printed armies and you can find amazing models out there that look better and are cheaper than GW models.
Where are the armies like Drark Elves or Skaven?

>>96484162>Inducted into the Schola Progenium as a war orphan, boy who would one day become Inquisitor Corsini dedicated himself to military drill, driven by the vow he had made to avenge the destruction of his home. And when an Inquisitor arrived a decade later seeking the last survivor of the "Technocalypse of Meridia Prime," the young man volunteered his service to the Inquisition without fear or hesitation.>For two decades, Dominic served as an Inquisitorial acolyte, honing the skills of investigation and purgation under the tutelage of his new master. From world to world, they pursued Salafié, until during the infamous cleansing of Vhormanstadt Hive, Dominic lost both his master and his right eye as their position was overrun by biomechanical horrors. >That he survived at all could only have been the Emperor's will at work, yet awakening in the medicae bay, Dominic rushed to a mirror and stared in abject horror at the glowing red cybernetic lens that gazed back at him from his own ruined eye socket. Some would say that he went mad that day, seeing in himself the very reflection of the heretek he hunted. And though he was granted the honor of succeeding his master to the rank of Inquisitor, he could no longer bear the gaze of his peers, henceforth hiding his face behind the pointed hood of a penitent as he slid ever further into puritanical fanaticism.
>>96489103The two of you bickering aside, I've noticed recently that lately AI genned images are starting to show off their generation technique with this filter on them that really makes the whole think look like you're seeing it through static, is this caused by using certain engines or is there something else going on here?

I've really been enjoying reading through Runequest, so I don't understand why it seems so underrated in modern gaming. There doesn't really seem to be much interest in the current edition compared to early ones.I was hoping that there could be more excitement over its potential.Especially with the changes coming.
>>96475097>lack of support from ChaosiumI mean, Chaosium has put out a fuckload of books for the game though?
>>96478137NTA but books aren't necessarily support. Priority one is to play the game, not to collect a library. Books can be helpful to that end but Chaosium doesn't seem to understand what it's actually like to pick up a new game, and then they will have staff and affiliates pontificate about how people should be engaging with the game. Moreover, Jeff is on the record for saying "who has the time to pick up and learn a new RPG system" on the official Chaosium youtube channel, so clearly he has neither the sympathy nor understanding for what the modern TTRPG audience wants. They are out of touch and they're just starting to realize some 7 years later how out of touch they really are.
Mythras (was RuneQuest 6 ) has imo a more refined system than the current RQ:G and has a diverse range of settings, not tied to Glorantha. It's a better choice if you want to homebrew or you're interested in mythic Earth or Sword & Sorcery campaigns. >>96478520I wish I could be as enthusiastic about anything as your are about Mythras.
I'm personally having a hard time getting on-boarded, there just doesn't seem to be that much discussion online. I got interested because I'm an Elder Scrolls fan, but I think I'm just too much of a noob to understand where I should start.
>>96489623Chaosium recognised those difficulties and planned a new extensive hand-holdy module that gently introduced Gloranthian lore and concepts through play but all of their recent hires (rightfully?) told them that the current system doesn't hold up and with the amount of resources they're investing in it they'll literally never break even let alone turn a profit; they're planning a relaunch of the RuneQuest brand.
Have you ever betrayed the party?Who were you and why did you do it?
>>96489136Nah, this kind of thing is a hot mess to do. You need to be playing with people you really trust to be open to weird twists and to handle the situation maturely. And you also need to coordinate with your GM.
>>96489136Never did mostly because it creates a lot of problems and generally isn’t fun for the players and the dm.
What TTRPG system has the best combat in your opinion? What makes it shine compared to other systems out there?
>>96486910If you wanted to have fun why didn't you pick a real class?
>>96487506I did.
>>96487527lmao NOPE
>>96466207even without grasping the extremes of anime combat, Anima: Beyond fantasy offers plenty of combat options available to everyonenot being hit is key, since you you are attacked first and fail to evade (even of you take no damage), you cannot attack for the rest of the round. bonuses are meaningful and can draw the line between a superficial gash across the arm to having your lung jabbed. with how critical hits works (you get not crit on dice result but rather a relationship of attack-defense gap and damage produced), you can kill enemies without the need of reducing them to 0 or negative HP (that is, with optional rules, one may fight even during negative HP, albeit with a penalty)combat depth is such that the order in which one attacks is important, since subsequent attack on the same target grants a penalty, which often lead to snowballing.

The spicier the better. I'll start to get the ball rolling: MTG, DnD and Warhammer are actually good for the hobby. They get new people started in this hobby and they keep the trend chasers contained and away from the rest of the hobby.Appealing to the normie masses is a necessary evil in order to keep what you love afloat. Even if it comes with the negative baggage of doing so.Generals are good for /tg/.
>>96487291D&D is kind of a terrible starter game but I guess so
>>96487291While monetizing everything can go and often does go too far, it's not wrong for people making these niche games to want to make a buck by doing something they enjoy. There's no one-size-fits-all way to play or run RPGs, and trying to find one is folly. Narrative.heavy storygames and lethal dungein crawls are both obviously real and tre RPGs, they're both fine as long as they fit a given group's tastes, and spending time and energy arguing about what real RPGs are about is silly. Not literally everything is political even in the current year. If you're the first one that starts talking about politics in a given discussion, then the problem isn't the other side making you think about politics, it's you.
>>96488817If your point of posting that pic was to show you are retarded nogames you succeeded.
