I mentioned the SV Exalted megathread earlier. It has some good discussion every now and then, though it also has long periods of little activity. It's a bit too much of a playground of one clique of a few regular posters with strong opinions, though, which is why I mostly just lurk there without posting. If you're talking about recent history; DIFO format. That's the state of the game just before Power of the Elements released, where the power level was in a goldilocks zone where everything was competent but nothing was peerless. You could more broadly apply it to Branded/Despia's time in the spotlight (so 2021 and early parts of 2022).

Was the format perfect? Absolutely not. The Terrible Trio of Savage Dragon, Baronne, and Apollousa were all running rampant, and Mystic Mine was still legal for the majority of it before an absolutely embarrassing YCS showing where a bunch of yugitubers got together to make the event as horrible as humanly possible with the express intent of getting the card banned. But like I mentioned; Nothing in the meta was peerless. As long as your deck was at least semi-competent, and ideally if they had a semi-decent matchup against them at least, you could knock tiered meta decks down by a couple of pegs.

Necromancy Edition

An alternate weird history 28mm/32mm tabletop skirmish game still in a pre-release playtesting phase but with the full release slated for this year. Based on the art and lore of Mike Franchina, whose illustrations you may have seen floating around on /tg/ for a several years now, and designed by Tuomas Pirinen, one of the original creators of Mordheim. It's grimdark, it's visceral, it's awesome, and it's very Blanchitsu.

what's wrong with Hell Let Loose? I think the last time I played it was when they released that map that was mostly a fight over the big bridge in the center but it was a fun game. Biggest issue I had was every decent server with low ping was always full and when you got in you never got to play as the class you like

Tabletop RPGs tend to split up crafting into a high number of crafting subskills for every individual area of expertise. There's no question that crafting is still extremely powerful despite forcing you to go through this hassle, but what are your thoughts on which particular crafting subskills tend to be the most useful in the context of a TTRPG campaign, be it a medieval or modern or sci-fi setting?

Look into deep gnomes or svirfneblin or whatever they're called in your setting/ruleset. They're already a thing.

However, you can always just have a character be evil and not a separate race.

My Pathfinder guy is a gnome that wants to be a magical overlord, and I use Veigar (pic related) as a portrait/inspiration. He's Lawful Evil. Cartoonish, yes, but fun.

Mage Knight is excellent, but not in a group. I've played as a 3, and it was fine, but anything above that there is far too much downtime. And like >>97368772 says there is hardly any interaction. Even if you play competitive, there probably won't be any pvp and it's not especially fun when there is. There's like 4 competitive spells in the entire deck and each knight has 1 competitive skill out of 10, so you might never see anything competitive.
