But I have been looking for somewhere other than the fancord to talk about this game and it's like a desolate wasteland out there. All that homebrew lying around like the ruins of some long-lost civilisation, and nary a single conversation from before the year 2020.
>>97368948>the fancordHow can you stand the place?

For heavens' sake, if you people want the Underworld to be more lively maybe expand it beyond the Deathlords and their petty melodrama, and have substantive movers and shakers out there other than the twins instead of having everything be basically wallpaper inhabited by pushover ghosts.
>>97368969The secret is to go at it in small doses. I only go there to ask after news I'm not caught up on, and request obscure homebrew. It's been easier recently since it's must easier to be positive about Infernals than it's been for a lot of 3e things.
>>97368948I mentioned the SV Exalted megathread earlier. It has some good discussion every now and then, though it also has long periods of little activity. It's a bit too much of a playground of one clique of a few regular posters with strong opinions, though, which is why I mostly just lurk there without posting. It's also currently very much pro-3E territory, in big part because a couple of writers post there and are a part of the aforementioned clique.

>>97302294That format is when I began playing for the first time. I tried to copy that dino deck but I couldn't afford that jurrac card or thunder king lmao. I also ran Kabazauls instead of Warwolf plus that other dinosaur xyz card. I quit yugioh sometime during the rampant link era powercreep.
>>97302100>What are the formats with the most deck diversity and fairness (many decks have a chance of winning against the meta)? If you're talking about recent history; DIFO format. That's the state of the game just before Power of the Elements released, where the power level was in a goldilocks zone where everything was competent but nothing was peerless. You could more broadly apply it to Branded/Despia's time in the spotlight (so 2021 and early parts of 2022).Was the format perfect? Absolutely not. The Terrible Trio of Savage Dragon, Baronne, and Apollousa were all running rampant, and Mystic Mine was still legal for the majority of it before an absolutely embarrassing YCS showing where a bunch of yugitubers got together to make the event as horrible as humanly possible with the express intent of getting the card banned. But like I mentioned; Nothing in the meta was peerless. As long as your deck was at least semi-competent, and ideally if they had a semi-decent matchup against them at least, you could knock tiered meta decks down by a couple of pegs.

Tabletop RPGs tend to split up crafting into a high number of crafting subskills for every individual area of expertise. There's no question that crafting is still extremely powerful despite forcing you to go through this hassle, but what are your thoughts on which particular crafting subskills tend to be the most useful in the context of a TTRPG campaign, be it a medieval or modern or sci-fi setting?Pic related is from Legend of the Five Rings, where I'll be playing a crafter soon, and I intend to invest heavily into crafting. Mike Mearls attempts to balance level 11+ spellcasters in 5e:https://www.patreon.com/posts/148007088>Here's what I propose for the paragon wizard:[...]>Let's keep spells and slots of levels 6 and higher.[...]>A wizard gets five level 5 spell slots. They regain those slots when they take a 1 minute rest. Is that busted? It sounds powerful, but compared to what other characters can do I think it's reasonable. Fireball cast with a level 5 slot does 10d6 to everything in an encounter. That's 35 damage. At level 11, you can expect to fight CR 8 and higher creatures in numbers. Those monsters have well over 100 hit points. The fireball leaves a mark, but it is not much of one. As you'll see with the fighter, that output looks nice but falls short of classes throwing attacks down range. If we re-orientate epic level encounter building to big fights rather than a war of attrition, this should work.I do not know about this. Mike still seems to think "Fireball" and not "Banishment" or "Wall of Force."
So, I'm toying with making a Tiefling Russian-Tatar-coded character front the Silk Road. I'm thinking of making her a rogue / bard. If bard, what instrument should she carry? A balalaika, a kobyz or some Turkish/tatar flute. Maybe both? Are there other suitable instruments?

>>97368721I don't know whyd you ever play mage knight in a group, its at best a 1-2 player game. It's a top tier solo game because it has a lot of fun crunchy choices but there is almost 0 game interaction with other players, it's effectively solitaire

And like >>97368772 says there is hardly any interaction. Even if you play competitive, there probably won't be any pvp and it's not especially fun when there is.
