If things go well and I can shake this cold off I should have a big Titanicus game on Wednesday.Titanicus is great. You should all play Titanicus.
>>96493259Why? Shit looks cool
>>96493066Depends entirely on the unit. For example, most WE units are melee retards so of course the WE trait is great for them. Meanwhile, something like Huscarls or Suzerains don't really care.

>>96488521My.... 1980's Citadel paints are mostly still liquid. Says something about the hard plastic pots....
Posted this knight a while back. I did it with a chrome marker/black ink pinwash technique that I am developing and refining. Got a heavily armored landsknecht that I'm about to begin painting and I'm going to use that technique for his armor. Takes a couple days with a fair bit of downtime between some steps. The technique absolutely lends itself to batchwork, however. So if you are cool with waiting between some steps you can still get a lot of minis done at once. I did a rough overview of it over on /awg/ a while back. I'll take pictures as I go and drop the tutorial for it all at once when it's done. It's actually very easy to do, a beginner could even do it. Of course there are other things to keep in mind with the technique. You won't want Joe with the greasy hands pawing all over it smudging it just to see if it will smudge. But there are certain ways to mitigate wear and tear and I'll go over all that as well in the tutorial.
>>96492874I find my phone camera always washes out colors for some reason. It will have heavy contrast irl but I take a picture and it just disappears.

How is any kid playing 40k with their pocket money?
This thread again? "ZOMG think of the children!!!!1!1!!" Not that OP does, he just wants more plastic crack than he has the budget for, and so he's gotten obsessed with the idea of being able to buy it all at what he thinks is eight year old's pocket money prices.

>>96489197Corporations have figured out that people, especially men, in western culture nowadays gladly continue to buy and play with shit traditionally marketed for kids and teenagers as long as they can conceptualize it as "hobby" and they have way more money at their disposal than underages. It's more profitable to just focus 100% on them and adjust the price tags to what they're willing to spend (which is way more than more parents will for their kids). Same shit is happening to Lego, to a lesser extent and probably will spread out to some other brands as well - things that were traditionally considered "for kids" will become hobbies for adults Still, that's certainly a dick move from GW, like how much could this possibly have costed them?

>>96492367>They dominated all galactic commerce and still would if MYSTERIOUS shifts in hyperspace hadn't changed the primary terminus point from Nar Shaddaa to CoruscantThat's not quite how it went. The Ootmian Pabol, the hyperspace route that connects Hutt Space with the Perlemian Trade Route, one of the major hyperspace routes of the galaxy, used to see a large amount of legitimate traffic, with Nar Shaddaa, which is located at the terminus of the route, being a major trade-world. However, a supernova in a nearby system rendered the original route unnavigable, effectively cutting Nar Shaddaa of from major trade routes until the Ottmian could be rerouted. By the time it was Nar Shaddaa it had already been superseded by other worlds and never really recovered to its former glory, instead becoming mostly frequented by smugglers and pirates. However, Coruscant was always the primary nexus of hyperspace travel, due to it being located at the crossroads of multiple big hyperspace routes (which isn't a coincidence: those routes were charted by Republic explorers, so they naturally led to the Republic's capital). Had things gone differently the Hutts would probably be seen as a legitimate trade-empire instead of criminals, but they never were the major trade-hub of the galaxy.
>>96492984Nah, Hutts have a natural disposition to criminality. It's like saying Biths could have been a nation of weapon manufacturers

>>96470197Sounds like a great time anon. Wish I could get people to run a game like that.
alright, finally going to run that straya adventure>plane crashes in the outback>players are the survivors, with 2 NPCs to act as sign posts to bring up looking for shelter or get a radio working>plane crashed near a billabong and if they try to drink from it, they notice something stirring at the bottom>if they stay at the crash site and wait for rescue, the siege starts when one of those NPCs is dragged away and eaten by a bunyip in the middle of the night >if the players move away from the crash siter, they eventually find an abandoned house, with signs of a struggle and drag marks leading to a nearby billabong>the house is a more defensible position, but rescue wont find them unless they take active measures to call for help>scenario ends with the bunyip jumping back into the billabong when a rescue posse arrive
I ran Chariot of the Gods for my group and it went pretty well. I think I kind of mucked up the tension at the end since I was trying to keep it within one six hour session. The initial contact with the abomination was great and ended up with one dead player and the corporate stooge missing a leg. The second half was a little messier as the group began to split, leading to the Weyland Yutani guy sealing himself in the Muthur room and entering the cryosleep chamber there while the rest of the group ran off to help the other Wey Yu agent secure the black goo. They did, killing a neomorph along the way while the rest of the Cronus' crew got wiped out. One of the PCs got infected and, beginning to mutant, remained on the Cronus. I think my biggest issue with CotG is that while the first and second act have great looming threats, the third act is really just more monsters attakcing the players. Oh also, I cut the space pirates, because that's dumb. I'm going to run Heart Of Darkness next and have some ideas of how to better tie it into the ending of our first session. Has anyone run that before and what advice would you give?

>>96490974>Because then I have to have a different way for damage rolls to deal multiple wounds and it becomes more difficult to balance. But maybe not, and that's something I really should consider.Standard for a single roll vs TN (in this case 2d10) is to use margin of success to determine things like amount of wounds and so on.For dicepool style rolls you just count successes as normal.
>>96433220I sometimes look at these threads and see all the complex mechanical frameworks people come up with, and I wonder if that's what's needed to be successful these days.
>>96491665true. but then damage would have to be capped by huge modifiers in a range of 20 numbers, instead of maxed by the number of damage dice rolled. I suppose that is more realistic though. Even a goblin's dagger could rip a terrible mortal wound in an ogre if rightly placed..
>>96491972No. What's needed to be successful is to be a D&D clone written by a popular YouTuber and have a flashy Kickstarter and low-info normgroids who will think any mechanic that is different from D&D is mind-blowingly original. It's fucking sad really but it's how things are.

>>96486528Yes, there is no point to buying the book, I agree.
Have you ever roleplayed a character with a spouse around, not just one that died in their backstory? Did they join in as an actual character and if so, how did your gm balance you having an extra helper?
>>96476838Sure, I played a Circle of Wildfire druid who was the mother of one of my other characters, and came out of retirement to beat up some mindflayers down in Halaster's little funhouse after her husband (Abjuration savant wizard merchant's son) had been kidnapped for his juicy noggin (DM's idea), and that was fun. I try not to do the "unreasonably tragic backstory" thing just to pre-empt some shitheel DM abusing it - the kidnapped husband thing was fine for motivational purposes.I did end up playing her because my other character (Wild Soul Barbarian with an echo knight dip because I thought both sounded interesting to try) was indisposed for a bit.Said barbarian also adopted the party Warlock as his new Witch (given he was K-Mart Minsc) and fell in love, despite her being capital E evil, and I like to think they could've had a relationship continue and become something more later on
>>96479283Mind sharing?
>>96476838I've DMed for a party where all three of them ended up with spouses or fiancés by the end of it. I basically ran the significant others in terms of giving each a special ability that the party could activate at the start of each round. So they could choose to have the priest husband could heal someone OR have the esper wife teleport someone OR have the old war buddy romantic partner shield someone. It worked pretty well.
>>96476838Back in like 2015, me and my friend played a married couple. My character was a paladin and hers was a cleric. It was actually kind of cute.... It was fun to roleplay and come up with what our characters would do in their downtime. It created an interesting dynamic where our characters were usually united on decisions they made, and would spend most of their time together.
My current PF2e character for Season of Ghosts, my tanuki rogue, has a husband and two adult children. They haven't seen a lot of screentime right now, with her husband out-of-town, but she dotes on her children sometimes during downtime.

I should have never switched from solo to playing with a group... My solo games and campaigns were so fun and consistent. Playing with other people complicates things way too much. Even when things are going good they have a tendency to whine and argue with each other.
