I played Promethean...in Mage the Ascension.
I was technically reincarnation of my Creator who thought perfection of the body is necessary for Ascension alongside the perfection of the spirit.

I was basically Prototype style living biomass, it was pretty fun playing alongside the daughter of my creator and the student of my creator. It was an awesome chronicle.

I played in a chronicle where likeminded vampires got together to pursue Golconda in the 1400s, it was a pretty chill chronicle going through decades every session. Lastled 30+ sessions and all but one of us achieved it and become mortals again. The one failed went and continued to a Sabbat chronicle as pack leader of the new coterie and a Cardinal. (Yeah, IC he went full anti-humanity after failing)

This game took an 180 here. I remember people constantly bashing it. Maybe it was just a loud minority as it seemed to become more and more popular in the last couple of years.
>>
>>97301192
These threads used to praise the game before the Phase 10 copypasta started getting spammed at any mention of Spirit Island. I always figured it was a few vocal shitposters but it definitely drained my interest in talking about the game outside of my group.
>>
>>97300972
Not really, for example (I'll talk about games I play) in brass focusing on someone too hard usually opens paths for him to build other stuff for cheaper. In dune you don't have VPs so maybe someone blow his load too early and fail to win because the other 2 alliances agree to not fight each other for 1-2 turns but hiding your plan is different from constantly trying to convince other people you're actually really far behind and someone should really hit the vagabond but you really cannot do it for reasons
>>
>>97301316
>but you really cannot do it for reasons
My reason is that I'm right after the vagabond in turn order so if I don't do it it's someone else's problem.

Frenopolis is a gamified tetragrammaton clothed in the memetic zeitgeist.

This thread is for discussion and development logging.

It's easiest to learn with YGO/MTG experience.

It's not for sale, but you can request a free physical 2-player 90 card set by following the instructions in the description of this video:
https://youtu.be/oPoBUoagO_k
(No payment or identifying info required)

Playmats have arrived and will be sent out with the playtesting kits. Anyone who already received a set with the shipping label name "Current Resident" should be receiving one by 1/10/26. If your shipping label was not sent to "Current Resident", email or DM me on telegram so I can send you one.

I only really understand MTG, and Pokemon; Yugioh has too many weird alternative summoning means, and side-deck shenanigans, and I haven't read a rulebook since the first base sets came out, and I am told it has changed, also the cards have too many special effects.
And I think i saw some duel masters cards once.

I will read the documentation; you have attempted to explain it to me before.

Likening it to other systems is a better explanation method on one level, but on another, presumes too much foreknowledge.

for the mechanics explained in MTG terminology, presuming MTG basic knowledge.

>Yugioh has too many weird alternative summoning means, and side-deck shenanigans, and I haven't read a rulebook since the first base sets came out, and I am told it has changed, also the cards have too many special effects.

none of this applies to this game. the only shared aspect is the combat system - ie haste, trample, and picking the target of the attack.

>And I think i saw some duel masters cards once.
the duel masters land/mana system just means there are no dedicated lands - a land is any card you play upside down from your hand, giving its border color as mana

Here are some more card samples.

There is a list of changes that need to be implemented (card design (as seen above), additional effect type symbols, and further tuning/calibration of the effect-cost distribution).

There is also a list of prospective rule-level changes, which can tested without any changes to the physical cards, that need to be done before the above list can be implemented via a reprint.

I will continue to test these on my own, but it would be helpful anyone wants to test these, or just provide feedback on the current iteration of the ruleset. I'm especially looking for tier 1 decks (which I have 2 of atm), inferior/weak cards, and cards/effects that cause disruptive, unbalanced, or unfun gameplay (mostly this is found in energy/land removal gimmicks atm, but I still haven't fully explored the counter plays to this.)

The game being sent out is good, with most games lasting 7-10 turns and 20-40 minutes, but it can be a lot better.

In my experience with several people ranging from 1/10 to 10/10 TCG experience, the game with its current ruleset can be learned in 1-3 games (this is with me explaining as we play). People with competitive MTG experience can pick it up in less than 1 game, and mostly have to overcome certain MTG habits that are not as advantageous in this game.

Also, the underlying game design is completely independent of the card images/names, so there will be an opportunity to change/update them before the reprint, so feel free to submit any memes/characters/images/concepts/structures.

The new year brings new resolutions, inspirations, goals, dreams and half-baked ideas.

>Why should I homebrew?
/tg/ products are fairly unique in that it's actually pretty simple to make them these days, with a plethora of products to assist in making and playtesting your game. Making your own games helps understand why games are made the way they are, as well as being fun to do.

>What you should post
Ideas for games, games you're currently making, updates to your own games in broad strokes, and any homebrewing for existing products that don't get much attention. Discussion about the above is welcome. Post good, be good, and look over others products, they care if someone looks more than anything.

I tend to keep riddles and logic puzzles straightforward on the "main branch" of a quest, but lock super loot and outlandish player asks behind lateral thinking puzzles.

Bear in mind; a riddle doesn't always have to be posed as a literal riddle.

It could be making a jaded aristocrat laugh, or solving an in-universe logistical problem with in-universe logic, or yes, deciphering a two steps left substitution cipher or some such thing your probably stoned probably half asleep mates would spend weeks trying to crack.

I have no problem with them as a concept in RPGs, but I probably wouldn't ever bake them into core rules. The general advice for RPG puzzles (that >>97292296 goes over) is pretty sound for them. So
>Keep any mandatory/main path puzzles very simple
>Don't be overly strict with answers. If the group comes up with something that sounds smart and could/should work in-universe but isn't the answer you wrote down let them use it anyway
>Plan for what happens if they don't get to an answer, even if the answer seems painfully obvious/simple to you

>>97289156

Thoughts on this:

I have a size category system. It would integrate perfectly into my item system where a +1 size sword does +1 damage and takes +1 more stamina to wield.
But
Size scaling is nonlinear, so a size +5 sword might do +15 damage and take the same to wield, which breaks other elements and more importantly, is too autistic to ever function. It would also fuck up material value of items, so id basically end up writing a physics simulator instead of a game
Clearly i cant do that
But
It works so well...

What would a sane person do here? Abandon the idea? Do a halfhearted implimentation and hope noone looks at it too closely? Or descend into madness and end up writing a videogame?

Clearly Konami knew this deck wasn't going to sell with just the charmer cards so they just slapped the Horus engine and Zombie Vampire in there to at least a few sales from people looking for cheap reprints.

Malicevorous Plate
[Rank 2/DARK/Fiend/XYZ]
2+ Fiend-type monster
If this card is XYZ Summoned: you can detach 1 material from this card; Send 1 Level 2 Fiend-type monster from your deck to your GY, then attach 1 Level 2 Fiend-type monster but with a different name as XYZ material to this card from your hand, deck or GY.
This face up card gains the following effects for each "Malicevorous" monster with a different name that it has as XYZ material:
●1+:This card gains 1900 ATK
●2+:Send 1 "Malicevorous" monster from your hand or deck to the GY; Destroy cards on your opponent's field up to the number of "Malicevorous" monsters with different names attached to this card as XYZ material
●3+: This card can attack thrice per turn each Battle Phase

I'm sorry to hear you're going through some hard times, mate, I hope things turn for the better for you soon. I will say though it's nice to see some more Dark Eldar, I've started on building a force of my own out of leftover bits from my 5e collection, long since sold those ones, but the bits remain. Found a nice looking 2e fandex for them, so I'm keen to give that a try in my games this year. No idea what my colour scheme will be, if I should continue my Kabal of the Obsidian Rose like I was doing before, or make up my own idea for a Kabal and colour scheme.

Starting with a small raider squad, a dracon, and a talos for now. I'll start building some more infantry tomorrow and maybe even try my hand at scratch building a raider for funsies. If that turns to shit I'll find a discount retailer and grab a few boxes of raiders and ravagers later this month. I'm also thinking of what to do for wytches, either hunt for 3e figure, buy the current plastics again, or find a 3rd party stand in kit or stl.

>I'm sorry to hear you're going through some hard times, mate, I hope things turn for the better for you soon.
Thanks :)

>Kabal of the Obsidian Ros
Pretty kino choice but rather hard to make look good at army level I'd say. It can look really good if done well though.

>A Dracon
She's actually my second favourite Deldar model ever produced. I've not even dared touch mine because I'm worried I'll fuck her up haha

>buy the current plastics
I quite like the plastic Wyches but I want practically everything in my army to be an OG 3rd ed model so you can guess what I'd suggest you do.

>Talos
I've got a metal one of those, the weird flat one with pincer arms and a tail-gun...thing but I've not even attempted to put it together. The Talos, Scourges and Hellions are the only models I'm going to use the plastics for, hopefully, because they are just horrific to build and magnetise and the Scourges are simply too hard to find in good condition for anything approaching a decent price.

Yeah, that's what I found too the first time around. So I think some originality is in order for this incarnation.

With metals it's easy street, just drop her in acetone and scrub the slate clean again.

The 3e ones are nice, I wouldn't mind having some for the army, but it all comes down to what's easier to source, there's also some pretty cool stuff from the 3d party sphere, so I'm leaning towards that at the moment.

Never had a metal Talos, looks horrible to build and keep together, but it looks so damn cool, I built mine from bits and a warmachine cryx unit as the core back before 5e dark eldar got their wave 2 release with the rest of the specialist and vehicle units. Felt so good upon completing it, could never sell it with the rest of the old army. The plastic scourges and helions are fantastic, some of my favourites of the 5e range, great picks.

This. Also from his other posts this isnt coming from a purely ideological standpoint but also attempting to make a high quality, even luxury, brand and it worked. MTG is at its best when its neither woke nor fan service.

I don't need to, we both know it already by reading threads every day.

>Everyone points out that "Le demons are not evil" was a huge trend
>Can barely remember any media that doesnt' have not-evil, not-succubus demons
>The first that came to mind was devilman and they are still dicks there

What is with this weird fauxtrarian bullshit

That's not ironic at all if you look at western media across the past 30 years. Hell, it was literally the first prediction people made when Netflix DMC was first announced.

Japan loves to use Western and Christian imagery because they think it's cool (or sexy like nuns), but other than that they do follow their own idea of Demons (which are just super powerful simple minded creatures)

Mao is probably the most evil of the protagonists and he's still not that bad, he's just an archetypical mad scientist.
Laharl, Zed and Fuji have personality issues but are good at heart.
Valvatorez and Kiriha are not really demonic at all and are genuinely nice people.

Demons who are genuinely evil are usually reviled in the Disgaea setting rather than admired (Zenon/Void Dark) and humans are often the real villains or instigators of wide-scale threats (D1, D3, D4).

>>97300158
Yeah, most of the "evil" seems to be cultural rather than ontological, and generally more focused on seeming evil rather than being evil. Laharl and Mao's ideas of what constitutes evil oscillate from conquering the world to ding dong ditching and are treated more like immature brats, Valvatorez acts more like Batman in that he spends more time scaring people into becoming better people than doing anything evil, and Killia and Fuji just act like shonen protags trying to bring order against actual bloodthirsty monsters.

Hell, the first goddamn game was entirely about an angel being willing to sacrifice her life to prove to a demon he was still capable of love and goodness despite everything he's done to try to prove otherwise.

Shit GM Thread, because while you players are awful, there are some really shit GMs out there too.
>GM advertises game as a destroyed world by demons and whatever and people trying to live through or retake the world
>sounds good, throw my application in and get in
>trying to make a character from a destroyed noble house destroyed from said demons
>no info or lore or anything so just make one background that can fit in
>ask GM if it's okay and if I can fill it in with finer details
>he just says nah you're good
>is there a map?
>he just gives me some random borders map that looks like it was generated from some website
>yeah choose a region where your noble house was from I'm still working on the details
>his username is some pretentious TheLoreMaster btw
>whatever as long as he can provide a good story as the game goes on

>me and other players make our characters
>he then tells us to create a shared backstory

This is what happens when you poke at a real tradition with a foundation. Just these reactions alone means the NPC's who have to live with the knowledge anything could happen to them would be absolutely livid. GM made the perfect call here.
