>>97345023
Unless you are using Gors specifically for defense, it's always dual weapon. And unlike most infantry, you don't want them to have banners most of the time. They win or lose on winning or losing. They are simply too unarmored to pretend they can win on static battle res. And ironically, ungors are better for defense because of spears. Gors gain so much on the charge, and once again there you want dual weapons.

Gors with dual weapons in skirmish are incredibly dangerous. They can't take flanks, but 360 charge is unbelievable versatility.

Do you include seasonal changes in your campaigns when time goes by?

If so, what do you implement int the world to showcase the changing seasons?

I personally include sea raiders who begin assaults on the kingdom's shores in spring and through summer, who then return to their homeland in fall to winter it out. So essentially a raiding season for my world's vikings, like in real history.

>The planet needs to have a slower revolution around its star for seasons to last for years. Axial tilt determines the severity of the extremes the planet experiences in its seasons.
What? The revolution/orbit of Earth doesn't determine seasons, the axis does.
>>
i always begin my games on the first day of spring because it's the easiest to not give a shit about ("it's winter, travel is slower, you'll need more gear" or whatever).

luckily i've never had a campaign last long enough in-world to worry about anything after summer.

>5E characters 100% heal after a night's rest

man their lives must be so exciting. one day you start adventuring, and in a month you've explored all the dungeons and killed hundreds of monsters. all those 'downtime activities' are like, a choice, you're not licking your wounds to regain 1 hit point per day.

Should mecha have hands? Should the hands be humanlike? If they shouldn't have hands, what should they have? If no hands, why even have arms?

I'm kind of out of the loop because I'm not usually a /tg/ guy, would anyone be so kind as to give me a QRD on what's going on with Gundam Assemble? I saw the announcement ages ago and was kind of interested because I'd like to get into wargaming type stuff but up until now haven't seen any wargames that I like (not interested in GW stuff or historicals). I checked up on it today and it seems maybe I was totally off the mark and it was actually some kind of TCG related thing and not actually a wargame...

Driven by idealism are fine and admirable if they know the world is a bad place and want to improve it. People who are pressured due social obligation too. People who become adventurers for fun are dangerous thrill-seekers or sociopaths.
>>
>>97344587
There only needs to be a desire strong enough to drive someone to leave.
A tragic event or disruption to happy life is easy to drive someone but there are non tragic reasons someone would leave.
>A mystery that needs to be solved
>A ritual or rite of passage that needs doing
>A call by a higher being to do a task
>Sometimes you can simply seek fame and glory
>Not sure if we want to count characters thrown into adventure by being in the wrong place at the wrong time
>>
>>97344587
Back in the day the motivation was
>im broke and wont hold down a job, dungeons pay well
High risk high reward
And that was it
>>
>>97344934
If I recall, Dungeons and Dragons has its origins in a dungeon dive Gygax and his buddies ran because one of their warbands in an ongoing Chainmail game was deep in the red, and it was a chance to get some salvage money in a hurry.
>>
>>97344934
>im broke and wont hold down a job, dungeons pay well
That works but that is a boring reason and doesn't give a DM much to work with.
I like D&D because I like having a say on the narrative so I prefer something that the DM can use in the campaign.

Another question for /tg/
Blasphemy says its effects are "cumulative and concurrent," does that mean that the -2d6 Strength stacks with itself if a creature keeps spamming it? (looking at you, Balors and Hezrous ...)

>I think it would be cool to have an option for people that don't want to trawl through message boards for builds or have exhaustive knowledge of 20 different books to not feel like a gimp next to those people that do that stuff.
If the problem is char-op, then either prebuilt characters with their whole 1 to 20 choices pre-made, or even better in my opinion a simple very limited pool of curated options so that the person can make some choices.
You could even group it by themes or roles or whatever.
>>
>>97338861
I really don't understand this mindset. There are pregen characters all over the source material.
Just pick a high level NPC and there is your decent build if you don't want to do it yourself.
why restrict the entire group and game instead. These games are meant to last years. An intimidated newbie today, in 3 years of playing might want to start branching out.

▶What is Kingdom Death?
Kingdom Death is a tabletop miniature brand stared by Adam Poots and operated by himself and his Team that later spun off into a miniature based bored game funded by two very successful Kickstarter campaigns.

▶What is Kingdom Death: Monster?
Monster is a Nightmare Horror cooperative boss battler/miniature hobby game for 1-4 players about hope in a strange world of bizarre monstrosities and perpetually darkness. Players take on the role of survivors that band together to form a settlement, fighting monsters, crafting weapons and gear, and developing their civilization to ensure survival from generation to generation.

Prologue Narration: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FNLc8dHv0Ac

The Game is broken up into 3 phases:
1. During your Hunt Phase your band of survivors traverse the world of KD in pursuit of their quarry.
2. After successfully tracking your quarry you will begin the Showdown Phase, where you must fell these horrific creatures in order to acquire precious resources.
3. After the battle, your survivors wander home with loot in hand to begin the Settlement Phase. Arm yourself by developing new weapons and bizarre structures to prepare for next year's hunt.

Welcome to the Old School Renaissance General, the thread dedicated to first-decade, Gygaxian D&D, its faithful modern clones, and content created for use with them. Later editions (2e and newer) should be discussed elsewhere. And as we enter this happiest and newest of years, remember: 2e was never an old-school game, bait is for reporting, and fish is for smoking! Happy new year, grogs!

Broadly, OSR games encourage a tonal and mechanical fidelity to Dungeons & Dragons played as intended by its creators from 1974 to 1983 — less emphasis on linear adventures and overarching metaplots and a greater emphasis on player agency.

If you are new to the OSR, welcome! Ask us whatever you're curious about: we'll be happy to help you get started. We also have two excellent beginner guides created by Anons with feedback from the thread that you can check for help:

Rebellions in 40k usually happen on a single world, or within a very limited region, and are often isolated before they can spread.

In Star Wars, the rebels are far weaker than the Empire, but because hyperdrives are easy to obtain and relatively safe, they can carry out guerrilla tactics. By contrast, the Imperium in 40k doesn’t have a rebel problem as severe as the Galactic Empire did, because warp travel is terrible and can't really do it without a Navigator

so if the Imperium ever figures out a truly safe form of faster-than-light travel, it would face horrific rebel problems all across the galaxy.
