>>96467887>Are there any 3rd party materials that you love for this?Tome of Alchemy. Specifically the essence system, because it lets you turn D&D into Monster Hunter.ToA basically breaks down how much in materials you can harvest from monsters by HD and Type. You can use this essence as a substitute for Gold in the creation of magic items of the same type as the essence, essentially letting you build that +5 flaming sword of doom by forging it with a red dragons teeth. Like MH, this results in players hunting down monsters because they need 24 cockatrice foreskins for their next outfit.
>>96474115Damn son, impressive. Why not write a novel about the adventure tho, like the Lodoss guys? You never know, it might catch on
>>96466267Continuing with Dragonmech - what shapes would be reasonable to use for mechs while adding advantages/disadvantages to them? Off the top of my head:Walker - standard humanoidCentaur - faster, but clumsierDrider - can skitter to the sides, but has spindly legsCrawler - has no arms, but can skitter to the sides AND has thick legsAnd I'm not sure adding worm or yuan-ti like mechs is a good idea since there isn't really much to differentiate them stat wise from drider/walker or crawler.

>>96477963Tank/wheeled mech, significantly faster, worse mobility, especially susceptible to obstacles/hard terrain and worm/snake could be the opposite, slowest of all, but very good mobility and is just about immune to being stuckMaybe a buer type for some hybrid between walker and >>96478054and it deals psychological damage to witnesses, pilots and most importantly the engineers designing it

>>96477417Vedalken orrery and Vivien, champion of the wilds can serve as redundancies for Yeva. Temur sabertooth will be an all star for reusing ETB effects and retriggering creature based draw effects like soul of the harvest and elemental bond. While using ETB creatures like instant speed spells will be the main gimmick it still helps to have some mana sinks (Kamahl, Nemata, and ant queen were some options I used before) or a way to bank mana like with Omnath.

>>96476775I think as well, the cosmere stuff is... it's really just light reading, despite the absurd length of all of it. I like it and I want to give the system a try, but I'm not absurdly committed to the setting to the point that it's one of my passions or whatever, and that's basically been the case for every person I've spoken to about it that wasn't a teenager. So the tone of the thread entirely checks out to me as a bunch of people who look at it and go "Oh, cool."

>uh, no, akshually, hit points are NOT meat points, and the only damage a character AKSHUALLY receives is when they reach zeroThen how do homing spells work exactly?
>>96469194a guaranteed hit =/= guaranteed meaningful damageyou need to read more Japanese fantasy media, this trope happens all the time
>>96469152>Bring up things explicitly left out of the rules for a reason>Gets malds about itPlay better games, retardo
>>96469069>"Hitpoints arn't meat points, you arnt actually hit until the last hitpoint, they are your ability to dodge the blow.">"The snake hits your 100 hp fighter, roll save vs poison.">The ghoul hits your 100 hp fighter, roll save vs paralisation.">etcYeah, it's inconsistant.
>>96469069>Then how do homing spells work exactlyIt struck you but didn't actually bring significant harm to your body. Maybe it just struck your armor hard enough to rattle you, maybe it just bruised or singed the skin, maybe it caused you to exert yourself to roll with the strike in such a way that left you more tuckered out than you were before the blow. HP is, per the rules, an abstraction that covers all of these things to facilitate the game going forward. If you want to get into the minutia, then D&D is not the game for it. There are literally dozens of games that get more granular about injuries, stamina, luck, and so on. D&D, and by extension many games with similar HP systems, is just trying to cover the mechanical base of "attack could not be avoided, but didn't necessarily cause you harm enough to hinder you" that is a necessity for more heroic fantasy games.>the only damage a character AKSHUALLY receives is when they reach zeroThe game doesn't even say this. Many games that use this system, and even D&D in some niche mechanical cases, treat half HP as being injured in some way. Injured/bloodied status is a common enough mechanic that if you've played or even just read any more than a couple of games you'd have come across it. "Meat points" are not a thing in the vast majority of games and D&D itself explicitly says they are not meat points. Regardless of your tantrum, HP simply is representative of multiple factors for the sake of simplicity. It's more elegant for the desired mechanical complexity to not have to track stamina and injuries separately.
>>96469248The vast majority of people playing D&D do not give a fuck and thus it's not worth the effort to change.

>>96477985The stories are paper thin, the soundtrack is unmemorable and the animation looks like it was produced on a budget of shoestrings and saltine crackers. Some of the backgrounds are nice, and the voice acting ranges from decent to quite good. Although sometimes the audio mix will be a bit uneven. It's not a bad way to spend ~20 minutes if you're watching it for free and want to consume something AoS, either just to pass the time or to have something to post about ITT.Special shoutout to Andrew Spooner who voices Hendrick in the show.
