i've looked at mascarade because it seems like a fun activity for carnival

pros:
easy enough to teach, would fit the "you know how to play before you realize it" category
social deduction game, casuals just eat it up
it would replace samurai's sword in my collection

cons:
obvious, but it would mean breaking the challenge
it's a game for a specific activity, at risk of being played once and never again
samurai sword has not been played yet, i don't know which game is more fun

so far i've not succumbed to temptation

FUCK boardgamebliss and their constant sketchy business practices

They STOPPED PREORDERS for Italy 43 and that shipment arrived today because Seljuk came in. These FUCKERS, only brought in enough for the people who preordered and didnt bring in extra when they ARE THE OFFICIAL CANADA PARTNER FOR GMT. FUCK YOU

I'm so fucking mad. I will not preorder and pay up front for a random release date that they already never are able to be the fastest store for. And their SEO bullshit of ordering only one or two copies of niche games to say they sell it when they really dont is obscene. It's fucking maddening to have them pull this bullshit and Im fucking sick of them trying to be the Amazon of boardgames.

Fuck them, fuck them, I say this as a customer of 7+ but holy shit fuck them, it just hurts customers

>Death Knights started out as
I appreciate that you've added the reference to FF, I thought someone had already said that, but it looks like you've missed the asker's point. He wrote
>>Apart from nazguls maybe
which means he's not asking about the D&D monster literally called "death knight" but more about the concept of
>former mortal fighter, possibly noble (of spirit not necessarily birth), cursed, possibly due to own evil actions, to a corrupted undead form, possibly skeletal or spectral, while retaining a great deal of its intelligence and autonomy
Death knights in D&D are, as FF says, lich but fighter with limited magic powers. The example of Nazgul, since not all were witches, says that the anon is asking more broadly than this.

>Kargoth likely used the OG Death Knight stats
Not likely. I had to look it up again but he has 136 hp where 9d10 averages 50 hp with a max of 90 hp. Death knights save as a Fighter 9 but Kargoth who saves as a F16, his Cleric 12 saves are all worse than F16. He moves at 15" rather than 9" or 12". AC -5 vs AC 0. 90% MR with 65% chance of reflecting the spell vs 75% MR. He's a named monster inspired by death knights but he's way beyond them in capability.

>>97308681
Draugr, sometimes rendered into English as barrow-wight or revenant. Since you might like a specific example: Karr the Old from Grettir's Saga.

He both guards his treasure as well as the area around, driving off all farmers from the region except those approved by his son Thorfinn, which means no other farmers remain in the area.

Well if the big bad is just a mind control rapist collecting women like pokemon to splooge into then I’m pretty sure that’s a pretty compelling villain.

Like, outright he is making a harem, and apart from aesthetics he actually does fuck them? That’s a pretty big hook. Most villains that collect women do it for aesthetics or because the chick is a mcguffin. But straight up objectifying women to be cocksleeves? That’s a good enough hook.

GURPS is a modular, adaptable system, capable of running a wide range of characters, settings, and play styles, with a level of detail varying from lightweight to completely autistic.
Optional rules allow you to emulate different genres with a single system, or even switch genres within a single game.

A nearly complete archive of GURPS books can be found by using the image. Never post direct links to the archive anywhere in plain text.

If you're wondering where to start:
- The Basic Set covers everything, including a lot of optional rules you probably won't use.
- A genre guide can be found in the archive, under Unofficial/GURPSgen. It tells you what extra books and articles you may find useful for many common genres.
- How To Be a GURPS GM is a good read even for players.
- GCS (gurpscharactersheet.com) is an excellent character-builder software, with page references to all the books and the option to export to both Foundry and Fantasy Grounds.

Thread question: What are some systems or you would like to include or see included in a campaign, but haven't been able to? They don't have to be the main focus of the game, having them only as something on the side is okay.

>a shotgun shell full of shot is a bit different.
https://youtu.be/o5f1Fo4r4_I this is with a 7.62 rifle at point blank. Against hard armor, of course, but as you can see the knock back is minimal. Obviously, a gun will impact with the same strength (or less, due to slowing down) that it imparts on the shooter.

Buckshot pellets mulch flesh and can go through multiple drywall walls easily, but they're easily stopped by body armor, even the blunt impact, beyond close range because they're still tiny, round pellets and kevlar catches them and slows them down easily. Though at point blank, it would suck balls to be shot with it and definitely bruise you significantly, unless you have hard armor.

Do you include seasonal changes in your campaigns when time goes by?

If so, what do you implement int the world to showcase the changing seasons?

I personally include sea raiders who begin assaults on the kingdom's shores in spring and through summer, who then return to their homeland in fall to winter it out. So essentially a raiding season for my world's vikings, like in real history.

Yes. Forbidden Lands have some built in assumptions. Foraging for food is easier in the fall, for example. Seasons also have a cultural implication. Peasants (which account for a majority of the population) are very busy from late spring till early fall and the weather makes people stay at home at winter.

Putting aside powerful external factors such as god/deity design or magical/sci-fi for the moment. It would be a very slowly rotating planet, and would likely require that it be a certain distance from the local star so as not to turn into Mercury, but not so far that it would turn into Pluto. There's a few other ways that this could be accomplished, but this is the most logical. And while it's not quite the same, this is how Earth would theoretically be depending on the length of day.

▶What is Kingdom Death?
Kingdom Death is a tabletop miniature brand stared by Adam Poots and operated by himself and his Team that later spun off into a miniature based bored game funded by two very successful Kickstarter campaigns.

▶What is Kingdom Death: Monster?
Monster is a Nightmare Horror cooperative boss battler/miniature hobby game for 1-4 players about hope in a strange world of bizarre monstrosities and perpetually darkness. Players take on the role of survivors that band together to form a settlement, fighting monsters, crafting weapons and gear, and developing their civilization to ensure survival from generation to generation.

Prologue Narration: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FNLc8dHv0Ac

The Game is broken up into 3 phases:
1. During your Hunt Phase your band of survivors traverse the world of KD in pursuit of their quarry.
2. After successfully tracking your quarry you will begin the Showdown Phase, where you must fell these horrific creatures in order to acquire precious resources.
3. After the battle, your survivors wander home with loot in hand to begin the Settlement Phase. Arm yourself by developing new weapons and bizarre structures to prepare for next year's hunt.

Doing alright, two deaths but starting on getting a super survivor with 2 strength, 2 evasion, and 1 luck so far. Killed 3 white lions and got a Rawhide set and part of a white lion set up (using CE). Facing the butcher next, I would have LIKED to have some monster grease but on year 3 I had a choice between antelope and white lion and I went with white lion in the hopes I could get a cat gut bow and circlet. I got neither. So I guess we're going this one raw.

>I think they enjoyed it? They seemed pretty eager to play along but I could tell it was getting a little awkward and everyone wasn't really sure of how to approach it.
Then it can't have been too bad, or at the very least you have players who are willing to cut you some slack on your first foray into GMing. It's good to be a bit self-critical, as improvement comes from recognizing your flaws and doing something about them, but just keep in mind that it doesn't have to perfect to be fun.
>>
>>97327251
Doesn't sound like it went so bad, but I really wanna know the system now.
>>
Can't relate because I am quick witted, charming and intelligent. Sorry not sorry LOL
>>
>>97315718
First game I ever ran the party didn't just go straight to the story hook. Instead they opted to , refuse to pay for a night in the inn, getting stabbed in an alleyway, murding little old ladies and taking there things, accosting people in their own houses while they try to sleep. Everyone but one character was wanted by the watch before a few ingame hours had passed. And the next session they managed to tpk themselves by starting getting into a scuffle with each other right outside the 'boss room'.

I was in fact running things very poorly of couse. I no longer use story hooks l, boss rooms, and actually use a system that's actually a whole game rather than one that assumes you can keep pulling things out of your arse in an interesting way.

>What is Trench Crusade?
An alternate weird history 28mm/32mm tabletop skirmish game still in a pre-release playtesting phase but with the full release slated for this year. Based on the art and lore of Mike Franchina, whose illustrations you may have seen floating around on /tg/ for a several years now, and designed by Tuomas Pirinen, one of the original creators of Mordheim. It's grimdark, it's visceral, it's awesome, and it's very Blanchitsu.

>What Trench Crusade is not
TC not an excuse for you to discuss IRL religion, history that didn't occur in the game, culture war shit, or discord bullshit on /tg/. Keep it on topic.

>What's the QRD on the background?
The Knights Templar turned heretic and opened the Gates of Hell when they took Jerusalem during the First Crusade. Over 800 years later the war is still ongoing as technology has developed to a pseudo diesel-punk WW1 standard and a third of Humanity has sided with the Infernal Princes.

>How do I get started?
All the files are free online:
https://www.trenchcrusade.com/rules/

They used to be split between the website and the discord, but no more. For posterity's sake, the old mega will still be kept active even if it's unlikely to need updating: https://mega.nz/folder/70QH0BBa#Eg-blxYQKkY_C02wErnFTQ

I think the crusader knights will be the "court" of the faithful side. Few powerful, maybe specialized, knight units, with squires supporting them.

Bit of info for folks on a recent bugfix for the trench companion, we have had to be stricter on what urls are valid for very boring business purposes, so anything that ends with a '/' will not be the proper page.
So "https://trench-companion.com/compendium/warbands/court-of-the-seven-headed-serpent" is fine
But "https://trench-companion.com/compendium/warbands/court-of-the-seven-headed-serpent/" is not
Not our favourite change, but just a practicality concern.

>Nowhere did they promise the entire range going forward would all be released as STLs, and I challenge anyone to prove they did.

Not a promise, but a shift on philosophy. Quoting directly from their page:

I guess I'll post it in this thread.
>Taro
He's the one who started it all and practically carried FV. If anything, he's an inspiration and reason for trying this out just by his additional flavor and integration of character and mechanics.
>Arthur
Such an interesting concept that clearly sets up your typical zero to hero story. I kinda wish he was more active to see if he'd deviate from that path or not. If we ever try to focus of the lives of NPCs and their growth to sapience, he'd be the perfect candidate to focus on.
>Sephi
He's a pretty cool idea of being the exact opposite of a demon lord, and plays well to the Isekai setting. Probably tied with Arthur with the most growth potential. You just know he's going to be a power house once he gets his bearings straight.
>Yaofan
I really like how one of our strongest members happen to be a non-combatant. Her existence helps exemplify the importance of down time, and gives a bit of levity to the situation despite being a sad character internally. I actually like her interactions with Liam with her acting as the straight man.
>Fifi
A cutie and unofficial mascot of the village. Her NPC and race helps give a more alien status, yet she's one of the most human characters due to her internal conflict which helps add depth and contrast to an otherwise cutesy character. It's also nice to have a more straight forward character to write in comparison with the players.
>Liam
It's also a bit hard to separate Liam with his anon. He's the one that's been helping push the MP forward and bring everyone alongside with him. It's a character concept that can really only work in a setting like this, and adds a nice subplot that can really expand our options depending on how the corruption turns out.

>Mio
Also a cutie, but going for a more lolibaba feel with being a Christmas cake and having all sorts of contrast to her. Her place in the MP helps bring out how skilled everyone is with her curiosity and her build format is pretty cool. Feels like a bit of a waste that we'll likely never see her OL side.
>Nagisa
I like the direction he seems to be going towards. Despite being the youngest, there's a bit of underlying tragedy to him escaping that can potentially give tension to the group's general want to return to their normal lives. He adds a potential for drama, while also giving us a good frontliner/PvPer to round out the cast with.
