>What is Trench Crusade?
An alternate weird history 28mm/32mm tabletop skirmish game still in a pre-release playtesting phase but with the full release slated for this year. Based on the art and lore of Mike Franchina, whose illustrations you may have seen floating around on /tg/ for a several years now, and designed by Tuomas Pirinen, one of the original creators of Mordheim. It's grimdark, it's visceral, it's awesome, and it's very Blanchitsu.

>What Trench Crusade is not
TC not an excuse for you to discuss IRL religion, history that didn't occur in the game, culture war shit, or discord bullshit on /tg/. Keep it on topic.

>What's the QRD on the background?
The Knights Templar turned heretic and opened the Gates of Hell when they took Jerusalem during the First Crusade. Over 800 years later the war is still ongoing as technology has developed to a pseudo diesel-punk WW1 standard and a third of Humanity has sided with the Infernal Princes.

>How do I get started?
All the files are free online:
https://www.trenchcrusade.com/rules/

They used to be split between the website and the discord, but no more. For posterity's sake, the old mega will still be kept active even if it's unlikely to need updating: https://mega.nz/folder/70QH0BBa#Eg-blxYQKkY_C02wErnFTQ

>but isn't that just Path of the Best or some of the Irish rangers
If we get pagans, it will be a subfaction. Unless some campaign book adds pagans in the far future.
>>
>>97347539
There is an Orthodox warband in the game. It's a subfaction of Trench Pilgrims.
>>
>>97347603
That is a shame, I would love a Pagan faction that could pick different Gods to worship kinda like how Heretics choose a Hell patron. It would add some flavour and maybe a few fun mechanics based on which Old Pantheon your warband has.
>>
>>97347707
iirc the pagan norsemen would probably be a good faction for that. Some worship hell but a lot of the pagans follow the old gods still.
>>
>>97347714
Pagan Norsemen would be fun, in lore they could be raiding both Holy and heretic convoys, I imagine them like proper vikings except with submarines and dreadnoughts. On tabletop I'd give them a power from their worshipped God. Let's say having Ullr as your patron you can give a unit double movement once per game.

Also, consider our non-Sith puppet Mandalores:

With that competition, Mandalore the Ultimate becomes the clear winner.

Coruscant has been built up and over so much that nobody, and I mean nobody, knows what is down there.

There are over five thousand levels, built up from the crust. Coruscant long ago got so deep that it started hitting the mantle. It's effectively the same as 40k's Terra, but Terra has been done for about 40000 years. Coruscant was already fifty levels (and some of these levels are skyscraper height and more, they're entire ecosystems) deep and a complete planet wide city a hundred thousand years before Ep4. It's only gotten more built up since. The entire world requires constant oxygen processors and atmospheric regeneration, satellites to direct heat, and millennia upon millennia of systems built over and atop each other designed to keep the planet livable and not a co2 ruined rock. It doesn't even have the capability to provide its own oxygen, hence super-oxygenating algae are strategically located across the surface.

Even with all that, if weather regulation fucks up just a bit, then you get megastorms big enough to ruin a planetary shield and rip the atmosphere wide open for invasion.

Coruscant is fucked up.
>>
>>97347481
that sounds so radical. a single turbolift can go far enough to get all the genres and themes of sci-fi done in one ride.

Probably time. I'll relentlessly tease you for you standard rotation though. Did they squat Kasrkin yet?
>>
>>97339316
Thinking of doing a solo Necromunda campaign; basic premise will be that a House Delaque gang has uncovered a scandal that occured in House Helmawr and after trying to get back in contact with their house contact have been "temporarily" ex-communicated and outlawed and are being hunted by some goons sent by Helmawr to silence them. For the main NPC/enemy team, would it make more sense for it to be a Spyrer Hunting Party chasing them down, or a Palanite Enforcer station that suddenly got really solid leads and lots of free time to apprehend the newly appointed outlaws?

Not gonna lie, this whole group has been fantastic for translation from the initial lore into PF, the basic guidelines I was given for this one was basically: girl falls into a portal in a cave somewhere, ends up near the River Styx, gets drafted by Psychopomps to guide lost souls to the afterlife.
Like, the build practically writes itself with how it matches up so well, which is a shock since apparently the streamer in question has never done tabletop before.

Lets talk about what makes a player or GM truly great? Is it how a player makes their character, roleplay at the table, a GM who is very descriptive, etc.
Or we can share stories about really good players or GMs we met at our own tables.

>There's people that always comes late, or doesn't read the group chat, or says they're not coming at the last minute "because they're tired" (while they work 20 hours per week and I can touch 60)...they don't have the balls to say they don't care, or they don't even realize it, for them the game night is just something that is there, if there's something else to do they deem better, they do that without a second thought.
I've had to explain this to quite a few gamers, mostly in the context of them being annoyed at not getting invited.
Our most serial flake is the kind who will bang on about 'not having the spoons' to sit through D&D, but will have a miraculous recovery when he wants to play video games ordinary something that just so happens to be less effort than a 20 minute drive.
Fuck those guys, calling your time and energy 'spoons' to garner sympathy doesnt mean it automatically gets priority over everyone else's. The 'spoons' of the four people you messed around and who's now have to make other plans are never considered, naturally.
>>
>>97344845
>not having the spoons
Never heard of the Spoons Theory, I had to google it. The lady who made this shit up had fucking lupus, her body is under siege and she has an excuse. No person who isn’t suffering from a disability or a similar chronic illness has any business invoking this shit seriously, they’re just being lazy and self-centered. Kick them immediately.
>>
>>97347279
>No person who isn’t suffering from a disability or a similar chronic illness has any business invoking this shit seriously
I don't think I've ever seen someone with a genuine disability invoke spoon theory, it's always lazy drama queens and lazy hypochondriacs. Even the original anecdote has a whiff of the 'and then everyone in the carriage clapped' about it.
Whole thing feels more like virtuous victimhood than a genuine attempt to be reasonable; "Oh woe is me" it seems to say "So put upon, so deserving of sympathy, how could you possibly hold such a downtrodden little person accountable for wasting your time, oh able bodied hyperborian superman?"

Our guy with severe neuralgia was more reliable than the serial flaker before the latter was uninvited.
>>
>>97344439
I agree with the sentiment that the GM should get a move on, but I really think heists are such a fucking terrible thing to run in tabletop because they either require intense detailed levels of planning (boring shit that drags on forever) or brute forcing via dumb luck if the GM bothers to run an actual believable scenario.

Both of your examples can be done by a good or bad gm. There's nothing wrong with starting the players off in a meeting place getting an assignment for an introductory adventure that'll set the tone for the rest of the campaign, like everything else this can be done poorly or well.

Players
>On time and pays attention while playing
>Memory longer than a single session or at least takes notes to reference
>Drive to do stuff, investigate, socialise, gather loot, defeat evil. Just do stuff in game.
>Makes a character that fits the tone of the setting
>Knows the rules and what their character can do
>No culture war shit

Oh boy it's ECL draft test time!

Many games devolve into recursion loops.
Slumbering Walker, Gravesifter, Emptiness, Reaping Willow, Dawn-Blessed Pennant, Morcant's Loyalist, Dundoolin Weaver, Slumbering Walker, Meanders Guide, Grub, Storied Matriarch all do it. This isn't including all the noncreature cards that also do. And many of these recur each other, leading to a fuckton of board stall recursion loops. It's shit.

Blight appears to be completely useless and the only times I saw it was as a cost. All the useful -1/-1 counter spells are shit like Reaper King that don't even use Blight lmao.
On that note, none of the mechanics feel like they're doing anything, and when they do do something it's rarely impactful. Feels like a set full of usefless, generic fluff.

I don't like the format at all.
>>
>>97347548
More to the point, in order to allow for Blight to be a cost without muh feel bads, they appear to have just fucking bloated the everloving shit out of everything's toughness. This also leads to pretty shit boards where 3/7s are staring at 2/4s with fuck all to do.
Then all the shit you want to do makes you Blight to do it, so you're stuck there like an idiot, unable to do anything because it would shrink your bodies to lethal combat range.

Yeah, no. Not a fan of this format at all.

>Why should I homebrew?
/tg/ products are fairly unique in that it's actually pretty simple to make them these days, with a plethora of products to assist in making and playtesting your game. Making your own games helps understand why games are made the way they are, as well as being fun to do.

>What you should post
Ideas for games, games you're currently making, updates to your own games in broad strokes, and any homebrewing for existing products that don't get much attention. >Cyberpunk 2020 vs. Cyberpunk RED?
Cyberpunk 2020 is the second edition of the Cyberpunk TTRPG that focuses on simulation gameplay and has a black trenchcoat aesthetic.

Cyberpunk RED is the fourth edition of the Cyberpunk TTRPG that is set after Cyberpunk 2020 following the Fourth Corporate War, focuses on more balanced gameplay and is more streamlined but has less content.

You can discuss Shadowrun here too because I also feel bad for those guys.

>>97341731
Why are you so salty about people critiquing Red? I don't even agree with that anon about moving invention out of core, but jesus get a grip.

>Without the ability to make new stuff, Tech is just a slow Fixer with a bunch of extra skill points and the ability to fix their armor for a fight and no social skills.

You're really underselling how good raising all your Tech skills is. Anytime the party faces a problem that requires technical knowledge, the Tech can ace it easy. Fixing armor in the field situational, but a god send in a drawn out, combat heavy gig. Makes Tech/Medtech really good because you can heal Armor and HP.

Fabrication is meh, but has its uses like putting a couple points in to mass produce cocaine or rockets. Invention is ok but gets cucked by the time/money it takes to upgrade more expensive items. Still being able to upgrade everyone's LAJ is worth putting a few points into. Even without Invention, Tech is still one of the better Roles.

I think others ITT were right that Invention feels like a crutch for the writers when they design a bad item. Invention lets you circumnavigate the game's autistic balance rules and fix shit gear whilst also not having to deal with the scarcity horsehit by adding strong items with a low price.
>>
>>97347566
You're awful charitable with your definition of criticism; "Remove it from the game because the referee might have to do his job" and "Remove it from the game because it's holding up the fucking wall." are barely coherent thoughts, much less criticism.

There's plenty of wrong with RED. Should you bounce two neurons together by accident and form a synapse you might realize that taking shit out that is mitigating or solving some of these problems is not only counterproductive, but actively brain damaged.
>>
>>97347614
Or you could get some reading comprehension. I DON'T think Invention should be removed from the core. I never argued for that. I think you're confusing me for the guy that's adamant Invention gets removed from the core.

What I AM saying is the Tech has uses outside Invention and Invention in general is a mechanic used to circumvent Red's poorly thought out Item/Economy balance.

None of these positions mean I think Invention should be removed from the core.

What's the current state of CMON's ASOIAF game? Their boxes always seem to be out of stock and it's hard to tell if the game is going to continue to exist.
>>
>>97343704
I heard CMON is circling the drain, so get in while the getting is good
>>
>>97343704
CMoN got hit HARD by tariffs because they were relying on Ponzi-scheme Kickstarter pump-and-dumps. They had to sell off several of their IPs and they posted a massive loss last year, they're almost certainly not going to have enough money to renew the ASoIaF license. Hell, they can barely afford to advertise anymore.

>continue to exist
My dude, I played a game from the 1970s last week. Existence is always up to the fans and not the company.

>how's mk4? i found 3s launch so bad i instantly bailed.
I liked Mk3 very much once my local WMH group agreed to ban theme forces altogether.
Mk4 is decent, especially now that Privateer Press is resting in piss. They even released a physical rulebook for it. The game itself is slightly simpler than it used to be but in my opinion it benefits much from the modern way of writing rules.

NTA but that's good to hear. I picked up the Cryx and just recently the dusk house boxes that make 30 point armies. One caster, one heavy and one light warmachine, save for the one being 2 lights for cryx but you know what I mean.
I'm really excited to teach a friend the game, once it's all painted. Just painted some malifaux today to fight the growing pile of unpainted minis.

Welcome to the Old School Renaissance General, the thread dedicated to first-decade, Gygaxian D&D, its faithful modern clones, and content created for use with them. Later editions (2e and newer) should be discussed elsewhere. And as we enter this happiest and newest of years, remember: 2e was never an old-school game, bait is for reporting, and fish is for smoking! Happy new year, grogs!

Broadly, OSR games encourage a tonal and mechanical fidelity to Dungeons & Dragons played as intended by its creators from 1974 to 1983 — less emphasis on linear adventures and overarching metaplots and a greater emphasis on player agency.

If you are new to the OSR, welcome! Ask us whatever you're curious about: we'll be happy to help you get started. We also have two excellent beginner guides created by Anons with feedback from the thread that you can check for help:

I'm really curious, can you tell us about what house rules your DM was specifically using that are reflected on your sheets?
>>
>>97347429
> if those are the only examples you have, then you've clearly never played at all.
>What is a Forever DM?
>you don't understand, you must have a record of character sheets to show you have played, every true scotsman has all their sheets.
>>
>Same person who claims that 200 page campaign write up was totes faked up just to fuck with them now bitches because "How dare you not take my half filled out character sheet with details that make no sense at face value"
What's good enough for the goose apparently makes the gander shit itself to death.
More importantly, even if that is your actual sheet from your babbies first campaign for retards, have you considered that everyone finds it, and you I might add, to be boring?

>also apply to such a broad spectrum as far as 5e and story telling games like pbta.
Wrong, with the casual confidence that can only be found in an absolute midwit talking about shit he doesn't know.
Neither 5e nor PbtA attempt to emulate a realistic world.
5e is, if anything, an attempt to emulate the genre conventions of D&D. Not any fantasy setting but specifically D&D, it's a snake eating its own tail by this point.
PbtA meanwhile is a closer attempt with its 'Actions first, mechanics after' approach but explicitly works best when it's emulating a genre. Be it Kung Fu movies, Noir detective novels or Blaxploitation, the entire setting of any half decent PbtA game runs entirely through a lens of "This is a game about [X]."
>Retarded teens going through horny monster puberty
>Sci-fi TV series in the style of Star Trek or Babylon 5
>Mad Max
Now, I'm going to say something that'll likely get me a lot of shit, but unlike you I'm not a cephalopod who rolls up into a cuckball and pretends I don't exist at the first sign of people calling me stupid.

PbtA could, very well, be the best modern system to run an OSR style game in.
But no one has made the system for it yet and it would be very difficult to do.
It has that "Assume characters aren't paste munchers who need a feat to tie their shoelaces" attitude and focusing on Gygaxian naturalism would come naturally to a game which is very setting-first, mechanics-after.
It's just no one's made a decent crack at applying its design principles to 'the OSR genre', so we're left engaging the hypothetical.

Oh and of course, to cut off the next inevitable question from our threads godless subhumanoid
>Oh so PbtA can be OSR but AD&D 2e (PBUH) can't?! Huh, huh?! Fight me in an IHOP car park, REE
I said could.
Hasn't been done yet though.
And more importantly even if it were to be done tomorrow, I doubt the people in this particular thread would be interested in it unless it was really, really solid since it couldn't directly mechanically interface with older games, it'd just hit the same tone and style.
And they have a right to decide what is and isn't welcome in /osrg/
So if everyone else decided that no, it's not an /osrg/ game, I wouldn't insist on talking about it because unlike you, I'm not rude or self-absorbed enough to insist that no, I HAVE to be able to talk about exactly what I want, wherever I want to, as and when I want.
Because I'm not a cunt.
Now reteurn to Y'ha-nthlei where your kind belongs

>Everyone
• PLEASE BUMP THE THREAD IF IT REACHES PAGE 10!

>Requesters:
• Provide good, detailed references (pictures are better than verbal descriptions), so the artists know what you're looking for.
• If you have a WIP quote the Anchor Post, and attach the WIP so your Drawfag can find you.
• Do not reply to other deliveries with a request that the artist fill your request next. This is called 'piggybacking'.
• Do not make multiple requests in the same thread and do not serially request multiple characters after a delivery. Suggesting several concepts for artists to choose from counts as making multiple requests.
• If you're unsatisfied with your completed request, please wait at least one week before you re-request. If someone follows this rule, don't waste posts by complaining about it.
• Stay on topic.

>Drawfags and Drawfags-to-be:
• Drop your tumblrs/websites/commission/etc information, but if you're dropping your commission info, please consider filling a request beforehand instead of just advertising.
• Please keep AI deliveries to the /slop/ threads. This is a thread for human-made art.

Hobgoblins are just human sized goblins that aren't retarded and have militaristic slant to them.

The only two kinds of hobgoblin that come to mind are the Dungeons & Dragons hobgoblins and Warhammer hobgoblins, and I'm struggling to imagine either as a femboy.
>>
>>97346891
People have made goblin femboys, it shouldn't be that hard to do the same with their bigger cousins.

truth time, how many of y'all goon during your game sessions? (assuming you have any at all)

Requesting a group of skeleton guards playing cards at a table. just a little sketch will do: my group will come across that as they'll explore a haunted wine cave in a castle: the skeleton will come after there but are somewhat chill about it and wants to finish their game first
