In one of the 3.x splats there is a PrC for the Wizard where they are part of some institution and they can draw upon spells from a well of spells where other people share their spells but you had to pay back into it as well.

I could imagine that concept being used for some kind of socialist mage society where everyone is joined to a magic well and can use magic with the typical corrupt, totalitarian government who actually picks who gets the good spells or not

Is this a new commission? I don't think I've seen it before, but I'm not here very day.

It's a retarded OP.
Last week there was a printing press scroll thread and everyone sperged about preparing class restricted spell slots but now you wanna argue that magic can be researched and progressed. I award you zero points, there will be no bump, and may God have mercy on your heathen soul.

Join or form additional groups where you get to be a player.
I'm the only DM in one friend group and run two games. In another group I'm on the periphery of I run one game and play in another and will get to join the next game to start (if schedule allows). Then there's a local community group where I played in the first two games and several oneshots, have run a oneshot or two and will be running the next main campaign. Also I joined some online games.

Battlekit lives?
>>
>>97209071
>>97208327
I feel this too much. I live in a good area for tabletop shit but KT was basically impossible to get anybody in on and it often would just have people coopting the night into small points 40k, which I can't entirely argue with just to catch more flies.
>>
>>97209071
You’ve barely even scratched the surface. Read the entirety of the 3rd edition 40k rulebook front to back and you might catch a glimpse of what wargaming is about.
>>
>>97209071
I don't really understand either end of the discussion. I just want to play with my toy soldiers and hang out. That being said enough of my chaos marines are kit bashes with some loyalist bits I can build a fun narrative of the loylaist marine player wanting to kill my dudes to reclaim loyalist wargear or relics and my dudes just doing chaos shit and looting everything they can in the process.

So these guys (stealth suits, if you can't see them)
Pretty interesting against a marine team. When the enemy can move + dash + shove a heavy plasma incinerator in your face, stealth becomes a lot less safe. Ended up not controlling much on the objectives, which combined with an equal score on tac op, kill op, and primary meant a final score of 10-15.
Definitely not a conclusive game in regards to how balanced they are, I made plenty of mistakes, but the stealth was a lot less oppressive than me or my opponent expected.
What I want to see now is how they perform against a 2APL team. Losing that extra dash to reach enemies, and not having the same super reliable kill shots that a team like deathwatch has, might make these sneakers a much less fun team to face. I need to see it to confirm it though.

Why is the best strategy to wait in jail and just collect money?
Who designed this crap?
>>
Based on real life monopolies but you never go to jail since it's always delayed
>>
>>97211526
The entire point of the game was to show that the modern system of landlords and renters was inherently unfair and led to the accumulation of wealth by the landholding class.

Doing nothing and collecting money being the winning strategy wasn't intentional per se but is definitely in keeping with the spirit of the intent of the game.

Sometimes games are designed with things aside from fun as their main purpose.
>>
>>97211551
To be a proper example of the Landlord system, one or two players should start with all the properties in their possession, with the other players only paying rent, being gifted with a few if they are related, or going up for grabs if a main player dies.

Start at 38 lands.
Cut one land for each draw spell you intend to play on or before turn 4.

People who suggest cutting lands for ramp are incomprehensible. You want to be playing both. If you ramp on a turn you miss a land drop, that isn't ramp.
>>
>>97212846
it took them 4 years to fix that and this time they are most likely not going to reprint any of those
and tourists are loving it because they don't need to care about the consequences
I wonder when they are going to print a card in a product like it that is so powerful it warps a format again and becomes so scarce tournament players have to speak up

I've been on a space kick recently and want to run a sci-fi space campaign as the GM. What are the best systems for a flexible gaming experience without the autistic complexity of something like Shadowrun? I'm looking for a system that can run "magic" (Psionics, occultists, dark gods, etc) and high-tech weaponry and ships and stuff as well as madness mechanics mutations, cybernetics, horror elements, etc. Visiting weird planets, dealing with intergalactic politics, smuggling goods, assassinations, dealing with alien cultures, learning dangerous magic and technology, etc. I also want the players help make the setting so I'd prefer a flexible system that can handle a multitude of scenarios with cool aliens and stuff.

I've heard of Traveler, Starfinder, etc, I just wanna know what system(s) I should focus on learning about first. I'd rather not run it in a Star Wars DnD conversion or Feelings and Lasers. This crowd usually plays DnD or very simple games but are open to other games too. Again I've tried Shadowrun and I'd rather a system that isn't over-complicated and just has the hacking take up 90% of the screentime.

>>
>>97181260
At this point it is a genuine trope.
I think it's because it is fundamentally the most """European""" class/arcehtype (being a holy knight) so by having them be that class they try to hammer home that all races are able to do whatever they want, no matter how much it clashes with the archetype of an actual European holy knight.
>>
>>97183946
The way druids were originally written it seemed even easier to get your powers stripped for deviations from 'correct' behavior. Druid code was more weird and arbitrary imo, and after 'falling' you don't even get to be a fighter, you're just a dude
Up to 3rd edition at least I know you could still punk a Druid for an alignment change, just seems like DM's forget that other characters ~have alignments besides paladins. Dunno anything about editions after 3.5 because I'm not retarded nor a gay

I've got pulpshit fatigue. Fantasy comic bookiness and pulp are beyond tiresome to me. Ugly as shit art, retarded as shit plots, dumbass pulp tropes like one dude solos an army of 50000 and makes a Marvel quip. Always some dumbfuck scifi or lovecraftian content thrown in too. I want grit, realism, and down to earth plots. I want characters who act like real people, not capeshit actors. I want a plot with substance, not mindless style.

I'm sick of it all, everything from Howard to Warhammer to Stench Crusade. Any other fatguys feel the same?
