Necromunda, Shadow War: Armageddon, Titanicus, Underworlds, Warcry, Warhammer Quest, Warmaster...

Currently painting up some Craftworld Eldar as there are some real banger models out there.

I Am not really going for anything but what looks neat, but I am really looking at the Corsairs player and thinking, what is the point of the Shadowhunter compared with the corsair escorts?
Is there something I Am missing? Having a normal lance is neat but when you look at torps + pulsar destroyers on the other team you get a bit jealous.

Overseer is the leader trait to get right? I'm having some trouble deciding on what to give my gang champions. It's cawdor, Firebrand #1 has a blunderpole and is melee oriented, not sure if I should go with rain of blows or maybe step aside. #2 has the crossbow and ideally he'll hang back with the long rifle specialist so I'm not sure what to do for him since their skills are close combat oriented

No, I'm afraid the sissies are all TOW heads these days. Not surprising, they're coming into the tabletop space from the highly estrogenized land of vidya. And of course furries and transsexuals are overlapping groups to the point their venn diagram nearly forms a circle.

The difference your degenerate ass can't see is that the whole damn thing was so traumatic I've never succumbed to Hunger Frenzy since...which was the whole point, I guess. You, on the other hand, would have been just as hard and dry humping the corpse.

Sure, I kill for kicks. Or because I'm hungry. Or because I'm angry. Or because I'm annoyed. Or as part of the Sabbat's mission. Or as part of my experiments to find where exactly the soul resides in a body. Or for any number of reasons, each as equally valid as any other. We're killers, it's in our nature. I'm comfortable with that fact. Are you?

Since we're sharing with the class, how about you, H0T? When did your heart stop beating, and what drives you to kill?
>>
>>97892898
>When did your heart stop beating, and what drives you to kill?
Ironic...

I was mauled back when the Great War was being fought I'll admit, the specific year is fuzzy. Either 16 or 17.

We are predators and haemovores. At the end of the day all that is required of us is blood. When I hunt I hunt for sustenance, mine own or others. The same reason people hunted back before the bite. Except I did not have weapons when I started, I was hurling myself at deer and moose like a wolf does.

Nature kept me and humbled me. Still does. I return the favour more literally.

Now if you'll excuse me I have to flog one of my upstart cousins because he has decided to wage a rodent-corvid-child war.

I work with software a lot professionally, so it's nice to just play something that is not electronic. I'm going to sound like a massive boomer but sometimes I feel like offloading mechanic resolutions to the computer turns off part of my brain and dulls the experience.
>>
>>97892438
It absolutely does. Manual for life. Electronics for jobs.
>>
>>97891752
>
i didn't like that you could spend resources on taking the initiative in turn order and someone could just steal it from you immediately with one of the RNG cards
That's something I also noticed halfway through my first game and informed play from then on. If you really >need to go first, it becomes a tight balance between tipping your hand too soon and giving someone time to play a card after you(though they usually have to pair it with the appropriate action), or losing your chance and seeing someone else claim the first player token through the board action. I'm not sure that's a terrible thing, though.
>>
>>97892068
I don't think I grew out of video games but most of them don't appeal to me anymore. The same thing happened to me with board games. I know what I like but took a while to get here.

Man I really miss the era where boxes had paintings of the model doing its stuff in-universe on the front instead of a plain old photo. Using different fonts and presentation styles for different factions was cool as well, Imperial vehicles having the exact mark and (presumably) date it entered service next to the name really tickled my autism in the best way, the whole thing really felt like you were buying a historical model kit but for a fictional setting.

Gooner shit isn't part of the 4-k tabletop game experience and never will be. Finally got my Pathfinders today. What am I for? Can I build a reasonable team with multiple drones or is Shas'las spam a thing? I would rather not buy another box or even extra bodies if not needed and I simply like drones.
>>
>>97892211
Congrats on finding an OOP kit I suppose.
Looking at the operative select options it seems you can bring up to 6 of the drones, but I doubt that's a very good option. Either way, I believe the kit only has the parts for two drones, both of which you'll probably be forced to take in order to get a full team.
>>
what's the most fun kill team to paint?
>>
>>97892211
Recon drone is very strong, even if it takes two slots
Pulse drone can really boost your damage when set up properly
Grav drone can be good against melee teams
And the drone controller makes them all faster, free GDMP, and can enable infinite range out-of-activation drone actions

I don't really feel like the marker drone is that useful when you have the HIM equipment
But the basic gun drone is surprisingly shooty

The point is, it should be people who have a passion for civilization, cultures and peoples who world build for GW. Not English grads or “ writers “. Also black library may be written by millennial sloppers but the fluff in the books and the rules are designed by 20 something dolts.

What does /tg/ prefer? Personally, I prefer the latter, especially if the system allows you to increase your chances of hitting through conditioning mechanics and tactics.

>>97891822
At a certain point you're just flipping coins to see who wins. Players want their tactics and decisions to matter and that big extension means you must manage RNG to a degree in any system worth playing.
>>
why does every system-autism argument boil down to "random bad"?
why not just have flat damage and flat to-hit chance if random bad?
>>
>>97892900
Its more "full random with no manipulation options bad"

Let tactics affect it. Position yourself for better to hit or ac, meta currency for a reroll or modifying the roll, bypassing damage reduction by striking from the back.
>>
>>97892921
>Its more "full random with no manipulation options bad"
almost all the arguments made are against randomness at a conceptual level and framed as "this is bad because it makes it more random"

By playing C4 after your opponent played D5 to your D4 is Queens Gambit. Accepted or declined is choice of black. Accepted is considered weaker since middle ages, literally, and this was confirmed by supercomputers, but top players still need to be prepared for it, since there are some traps later in the lines. QGD on other hand offers a million of fighting positions both for black and white. That's why it's so popular for both sides. Black can go for reti, indian, modern, queen's pawn, benoni... if he wishes to avoid Queen's Gambit, but every one of those is much narrower in opportunities and scope (or they transpose into a known line of Queen's Gambit), so a quality white player will be able to remember the lines and lead the match into, to him, known positions, offering him advantage.
