What sort of Monks are we talking about? Because Asian Monks could use all kinds of weapons. Meanwhile, Western Monks only used staffs because it was a good way to defend themselves without killing the person.
>>
>>97183453
Yeah, I was using BG3 rules that allows you to add your str modifier to attack and damage twice to improvised, thrown, and unarmed attacks.

Pair that with Monk's unarmed bonuses, magic attacks, and such? The total attack value per hit gets pretty fucking nutty, especially when you got strength augmenting gear and potions.

Agreed. They could've gone wackier with it and turned Festus himself into a slug. Not that the model isn't nice, but the fat man could have used a little something extra.

Previously: https://desuarchive.org/tg/thread/96936967/

When last we met, we made G.E.T.S. (Generally Entertaining Team-built System). Thus far, it seems to be a fairly minimalist system.

Now, we shall make our first setting for this system.

If your proposed idea gets doubles, it is canonized. Any canon characters, worldbuilding, themes, et cetera can be modified (but not outright contradicted or discarded) by triples, quadruples, et cetera.

Let us continue.

The main issue is that the devs always give them less attention and they're implemented much lazier.
Camera angles are always fucked up, they have problems with clipping because they're shaped wrong, they're irrelevant to the plot and world, they don't have good racials, they don't have good customization options, I could go on.

Temperature isn't as important for resin printing as it is for FDM, but the window might be a problem, since it cures with UV light.
>>
>>97183262
So should I bring it outside? I'm worried about the fumes. And there are curtains. But I still need to get the fumes out somehow.
>>
>>97183274
No, you must keep it from UV light. The only UV light that must affect your resin must be the one below the machine's vat.
The printer I use is in a room with a ventilator thingy in the wall that take the gases out. We still use a mask tho.
Maybe that's the reason I've never had troubles with fumes. Or maybe I'm just exaggerating and they aren't a big deal, as everyone in these threads keeps telling me.

That makes sense. I mean I don't mind the PCs being a significant force in battle as the heroes, but I don't want it to be like they can face 1000 enemy level 1 guys and not even get hit.

>>97182142
Not an OSR experience, but less of the high-power optimized DPR retardation builds like PF 1e.Or even 5e. I've heard PF2e is better balanced than both.
>>
>>97182267
Oh, yeah, then the game is good for that. Even the hyper-autistic Human Fighter-fag posting, that doesn't even hold a candle to the nonsense you can get away with in 5e.

>but I don't want it to be like they can face 1000 enemy level 1 guys and not even get hit.
Eh, by design you will outlevel things and you add your level to your AC by default. So there will be a point where Level 1 guys can't hurt a significantly higher-level opponent. The game expects any encounter to max out on a -4/+4 Player Level range, so do be mindful if you make areas based on level ranges.
But realistically this shouldn't be a problem. Just part of why 2e is a Heroic Fantasy and not Low Fantasy.
>>
>>97182305
so what level would be the maximum that the characters would want to take over another barony and need to recruit at least a few dozen men to defeat the lord's army?
>>
>>97182881
7 is the earliest and notable powerspike that every class in the game hit, with 11-13 being where game's meta particularly shift and everyone is most comfortable. 12 is the level you are expected to have 16,500 Gold for the party (Pathfinder had a major economic deflation between editions if that seems low to you), so these are good expectations around when the players start buying their way out of problems while keeping up with their treasure and gear. At least in my opinion.

This should give you some good degree of expectations. You can also look into the Kingmaker AP (and corresponding homebrew adjustments because the 2e Kingdom Management rules are legit untested and poorly designed) for additional resources in large-scale bastion management. You can also look into the Captain archetype for scaling humanoid companion rules, in case you want some guidelines on building officers.

"Steal Life" is a lv8 Necromancy [evil] spell from Book of Vile Darkness which only has full effect when cast on a humanoid target in a descrated/unhallowed area on the night of a full moon.

For each round you concentrate, you inflict 1 point of ability drain to the victim (rotates between Str/Dex/Con) and de-age yourself by 1 week without losing any abilities. Normally your target will reach Con 0 and die before you've even drained a year's worth of life... but there's a magic bed in the Stronghold Builder's Guidebook which casts Restoration on its occupant every 3 rounds. Have your target sleep in the bed as you drain them and you can keep it from dusk to dawn without permanently harming them, easily loli-ifying yourself in a single night.
>>
>>97180706
It de-AGES you, it doesn't de-GROW you, aging and growing are two different things for most creatures. De-aging a dragon would be to its detriment for example, but a boon to an elderly human.

A thread to talk about minis and games which fall between the cracks, or peoples' homebrew wargames.
The >>>/tg/hwg thread doesn't entertain fantasy (for good reason) and the other threads are locked to more specific games.
This thread isn't tied to a game, a publisher, or a genre, let's just talk about fun wargames. Any scale, any company, any miniatures.

>Examples of games that qualify.
A Song of Ice and Fire, Argatoria, Batman Miniature Game, Carnevale, Conquest: The Last Argument of Kings,
Deadzone, Dragon Rampant, Dropfleet and Dropzone Commander, Freebooter's Fate, Frostgrave, Gaslands, HeroClix,
Kings of War, Maelstrom's Edge, Malifaux, Marvel Crisis Protocol, Masters of the Universe: Battleground, Moonstone,
Oathmark, OnePageRules, Open Combat, RelicBlade, Rumbleslam, SAGA, StarCraft, Stargrave, Sludge, Urban War, Void,
Warcaster, Warmachine, Xenos Rampant, Xenotactics...

would recommend solo games as well. I don't get to play much at all, partly because most poeple only play 40k and most people also are insufferable but also because I usually only have free time to play at like 10 at night. 5 parsecs from home, weasel-tech and hardwired have been fantastic. When you're playing solo, it's so much easier to get into the "narrative" of the game. I just got in a game of hardwired, which is a fairly simple cyberpunk skirmish game, and it was the most fun I've had in a while.
>>
>>97182585
I dunno what other people do, but when I play solo games, I tend to write down a report of what's happened in a turn so I can keep track. I find myself getting more descriptive as I get into it so it ends up feeling like I'm writing a story around what's happening instead of listing off moves. It's a lot of fun. I understand why text based battle reports and wargaming blogs used to be popular.

Why is it that so many fantasy writers make their evil cults unjoinable by anyone with a functioning brain cell? Like why would you worship Orcus, whose goal is omnicide? Why would you worship Tzeentch if he’s probably gonna screw YOU over as part of his grand plan?

What makes it so bizarre to me is that, firstly, it’s not like they need to be so off-putting to be evil. Orcus is a demon of undeath, his followers want to turn their enemies into the undead. Tzeentch wants the world to be in a constant cycle of chaos, his followers are gonna be masterminding world wars.

Secondly, it’s not like we don’t have plenty of examples of real-world evil cults. A lot of cults in the West don’t follow Super-Duper-Mega-Murder Satan, but are fucked-up offshoots of Christianity. Historically, goetia was practiced by people who would’ve still called themselves Christians, while committing rituals to summon and get boons from demons. Plenty of human cultures used to sacrifice humans to their gods, not to summon them to kill everyone or some shit, but to honor and/or appease them.

Like to use another example from Warhammer, I think Nurgle and Khorne present more “approachable” evil cults. Nurgle is toxic positivity, and his love will take all the pain away. Khorne is wrapped up in enough language about honor to lure people in.

Like to rework an evil deity, let’s pick Lamashtu. Instead of “We love ugliness and miscarriages and also you get to die in childbirth”, the cult targets vulnerable young women and lures them in with divine feminine language (“You have the power to bear and raise great beasts”), while promising the young men of monstrous races frustrated living among humans that what they’re scorned for is what makes them powerful (and also they get to have sex with pretty girls).

>It's just every one of those socialist agitator types
Those socialist agitator types are born from the idle and lazy portion of the (upper) middle class and not from the actual lower class. Without the existence of a middle class there is no one to really come up with the idea of "lets make everyone equal on (my) level so I don't need to do as much work."

>>97182525
Which only came to be through industrialization. Prior to that Merchants were forced to commission skilled tradesmen for finished goods or perform tasks such as transport. Industrialization changed it so that merchants (now capitalists) owned machines that produced finished goods and performed those tasks and then hired others to man those machines.

>>97182649
>Except they did, often.
Peasant/Slave revolts happened but those were more the result of local mismanagement rather than active attempt to organize as an economic unit.

>What do you think guilds were?
Guilds were more a Town/City thing and were tradesmen trying to control their local industry by forming a local monopoly.

>What is Trench Crusade?
An alternate weird history 28mm/32mm tabletop skirmish game still in a pre-release playtesting phase but with the full release slated for this year. Based on the art and lore of Mike Franchina, whose illustrations you may have seen floating around on /tg/ for a several years now, and designed by Tuomas Pirinen, one of the original creators of Mordheim. It's grimdark, it's visceral, it's awesome, and it's very Blanchitsu.

>What Trench Crusade is not
TC not an excuse for you to discuss IRL religion, history that didn't occur in the game, culture war shit, or discord bullshit on /tg/. Keep it on topic.

>What's the QRD on the background?
The Knights Templar turned heretic and opened the Gates of Hell when they took Jerusalem during the First Crusade. Over 800 years later the war is still ongoing as technology has developed to a pseudo diesel-punk WW1 standard and a third of Humanity has sided with the Infernal Princes.

>How do I get started?

Can't do any actual model making due to moving this week, but here are some rough mockup mini's for my "Mothers of Saint Mar-Garet" warband (Stigmatic nun (going to get a proper face), War Prophet, Castigator).

Both in terms of new players expecting their DMs to be a professional VA dancing around like a monkey at all times to entertain them and in terms of bringing in people who don't actually play but can convincing pretend to be gamers to stir shit up online(these are the people saying orcs are racist).

Player characters with some leaning towards exteriority or otherness but not so much they can't be part of social groupings enough to engage is key. They have to be able to mix a bit, go places regular people won't and also can't be too comfortable in society because it forecloses on adventure.

Generalists never prosper. Pick a lane and stick to it.

Honestly, I don't think most roleplaying games are served by socialite character (as distinct from a face character). Society is the hapless or helpless thing needing saving, or the weighty hand pressing down on PCs, or something to be mastered and conquered; for standard campaigns, rarely is it ever both monolithic enough to be worth engaging with while also flexible enough to be manipulated. Sure, individuals might be worth your time, but the general corpus of the population is going to be useless neutral entities 90% of the time.

Of course, modern settings tend to make society worth engaging with, but I rarely get to play in a campaign set in those modern settings, so I can't say much there. And even there, your typical PC is usually a cultural outsider or a standout person, not a face in the crowd content to let social tides direct his path.
