>>97179974"Steal Life" is a lv8 Necromancy [evil] spell from Book of Vile Darkness which only has full effect when cast on a humanoid target in a descrated/unhallowed area on the night of a full moon. For each round you concentrate, you inflict 1 point of ability drain to the victim (rotates between Str/Dex/Con) and de-age yourself by 1 week without losing any abilities. Normally your target will reach Con 0 and die before you've even drained a year's worth of life... but there's a magic bed in the Stronghold Builder's Guidebook which casts Restoration on its occupant every 3 rounds. Have your target sleep in the bed as you drain them and you can keep it from dusk to dawn without permanently harming them, easily loli-ifying yourself in a single night.

4th edition: What are the defensive rolls for astral combat? Is it purely intuition to avoid the attack (because that's the astral reaction stat), or can you roll dodge? Is it just willpower (astral equivalent of body) to resist damage? If that's so, is there any way to make astral combat not deadly as fuck?
I'm doing a deep dive comparison between Cyberpunk and Shadowrun for myself. Corps in Cyberpunk 2020 don't have extraterritoriality and blatant culture and identity shifting power to get people to identify with them instead of nations correct? They can issue passports and IDs but they're also not powerful enough to fuck around and find out since national armies still outnumber them and nations have wmds and space rocks. Corp troop numbers and equipment in 2020 seem to support this.Under that framework, I don't quite understand how the fuck the Fourth Corporate War got that bad though. Europe should have been dropping rocks.

Anyone got Kobold Press Cities & Towns?
Anyone have the first-party D&D compendium modules for Foundry VTT?
Why is it that so many fantasy writers make their evil cults unjoinable by anyone with a functioning brain cell? Like why would you worship Orcus, whose goal is omnicide? Why would you worship Tzeentch if he’s probably gonna screw YOU over as part of his grand plan? What makes it so bizarre to me is that, firstly, it’s not like they need to be so off-putting to be evil. Orcus is a demon of undeath, his followers want to turn their enemies into the undead. Tzeentch wants the world to be in a constant cycle of chaos, his followers are gonna be masterminding world wars.Secondly, it’s not like we don’t have plenty of examples of real-world evil cults. A lot of cults in the West don’t follow Super-Duper-Mega-Murder Satan, but are fucked-up offshoots of Christianity. Historically, goetia was practiced by people who would’ve still called themselves Christians, while committing rituals to summon and get boons from demons. Plenty of human cultures used to sacrifice humans to their gods, not to summon them to kill everyone or some shit, but to honor and/or appease them.Like to use another example from Warhammer, I think Nurgle and Khorne present more “approachable” evil cults. Nurgle is toxic positivity, and his love will take all the pain away. Khorne is wrapped up in enough language about honor to lure people in.Like to rework an evil deity, let’s pick Lamashtu. Instead of “We love ugliness and miscarriages and also you get to die in childbirth”, the cult targets vulnerable young women and lures them in with divine feminine language (“You have the power to bear and raise great beasts”), while promising the young men of monstrous races frustrated living among humans that what they’re scorned for is what makes them powerful (and also they get to have sex with pretty girls).

I always found it weird that D&D was maligned as witchcraft, satanism, and anti-social. From what I can tell, TTRPGs just increase sociability, problem solving, conscientiousness, and probably improves self-concept through skills and self-esteem. Did any anons here live through Bothered About Dungeons and Dragons or the Satanic Panic? Sorry if this is boring or repetitive to others, but I want to study the social aspects of TTRPGs and how it exists as a subculture. I think, by and large, this is the best board on 4chan because people really care about this hobby and want to help others get into it. Despite the shitposting, I think the community is vibrant and the games I played through Find a Game threads were all filled with genuine, nice people. So it irks me that the Satanic Panic tried to paint subcultures as evil. Maybe it's because people think TTRPGs overlap with extreme music or just teenage entertainment in general.
