I never looked too much at the numbers on social media, but I do recognize how slow my improvement is, or how bad I am for many things, like perspective, figure drawing, digital painting... It doesn't get in my head...

ngl, i trashed this guy hard because in my mind, the level of regression he had was unreal, i even accused him of being someone else using his account to the point he had to post a video of himself to prove me and others wrong.

Anyways, i had a combo with someone who participated on the course and they told me they were really disappointed, the course was just the basic bullshit you see your typical artsloptuber put weekly and that his old videos have better info than the whole thing.

What do you guys think of samsung s9 fe? Think it's a good first digital tablet?
>>
>>7764897
i think screen is sourced from galaxy tab, this device looks like slighlty modified galaxy tab ultra with few changes. With 14 inch screen it will be longer than 13inch ipad with same width, i dont have problem with ipad width but that extra inch of lenght will be welcome, im using clip stuidio with 1 floating window for reference, on ipad sometimes it feels bit akward to use like that. Im thinking about swaping, i could flip my ipad air 13 with apple pencil for that wacom. Worse APU, more ram, much better screen, bigger, more memory, sd card, and normal stylus with matte screen. Im suprised with that price desu, less than galaxy tab ultra

Is there a particular reason you cant learn to draw using your left side of the brain?

I know the right side is the one everyone desires, but most people can't use it 100% everytime.

So why not learn to draw using the analitical side of the brain?

I think I can draw nicely taking into account I still use my symbol drawing skills.

How can I stop being a permabeg?
I always wanted to draw from when i was in kindergarten but my visual accuracy and ability to think in 3d was very bad and got discouraged myself.
In art class everybody could accurately copy images and photos but i suffered from low visual accuracy.
And I can't think in 3d. I can't imagine a cube from some 45 degree angle because I can't intuitively grasp how I should draw angles and lengths of the corner of the cube.
And my gestures from photos also suck as I can't accurately see drawings and get proportions right so i try to copy every contour curves in process to get the proportions correct... and as a result I SUCK ASS!

I have 3 questions and i wish anyone with good knowledge would help me.
1. How can I copy accurately and get right proportions? Any book/video course? Try notans? Or croquis?
2. How can I get the 3d feels in my head? Should I try sketchfab cubes? or try memorising my rubber?
3. How can I get gestures flowy and proportionally accurate? I have 0 clues on this.

1. Messure and observe. Look for negative space, spot shapes and try to replicate them. Don't work in details, always check whole figure.
2. Scott Robertson book, grinding simple forms, cubes and spheres then more complex ones. Always think about stuff that is behind your vision and its volume.
3. Glenn Vilppu, go watch him. Practice lines, how they define forms and how they overlap, practice curves. Basically try to make them go like snake haha.

You can do it anon, you are pretty decent right now.

You know, the pose packs I use seem to be half poses like these. As a permabeg I find these awfully difficult, specially because I have trouble with really basic stuff, such as proportion. Still, I try to not skip them
>>
>>7766397
i guess it's okay to do them once in forever, these type of poses still have some learning value to them

the way i usually approach drawing poses like these is by doing a messy loose sketch first to figure out proportions, when i'm satisfied i'll move on to drawing on top of it while erasing the messy lines and also fixing proportions if needed
>>
Quick survey: if you work digitally, is it cheating to use morph/transform?

Sure, no rules just tools, but since figure drawing is mostly internalizing the basics of the figure, isn't transforming just a way to sabotage learning? Thoughts?

very nice, what kind of medium did you use? post the drawing if you still have it
>>
>>7766346
it was saved on a pc that's now trashed so unfortunately i don't. the medium was digital- the contest came from a tech-skills convention so there were alot of digital-based contests there (they held contests for graphic design and digital animation too). had to bring your own drawing tablet though which was weird.

If you can't understand gesture drawing it's over right? I've watched hundreds of tutorials, read Vilppu, Loomis, Stanchfield, you name it. But I simply do NOT understand how to do it. My hands are unable to replicate it. They just keep talking about feeling the form and being loose and representing the contour and my mind just cannot transform this into concrete instructions for my hands. I feel like it's something that you either get or you do not.

>representing the contour
nobody ever says to follow the contour. gesture is about lines of action.... what does contour even mean, who said this or where did you pick this up?
you are trying to draw shapes, you need to draw forms, like weight, flesh, a sense of 3D, imagine the flesh pinching on her back when she bends backwards, you have to imagine the weight and like, the flow of things, a direction where a gesture is projected, like if the girl bends herself backwards try to animate that in your head, she goes forward and and then bends her flexible back, can you imagine line in your head, like a trajectory of that movement?
the arrows probably don't help but do NOT draw contours. like the thighs you drew, you're thinking in 2d shapes
also don't give a fuck about accuracy, I made the arms too long but gesture isn't about accuracy

What is /ALT/?
If you're looking for a place to post your cartooning then you've found the right general. This is /ic/s 1st and only merged hub where both Eastern and Western stylization can coexist peacefully, hence the double title.

(1) Any form of cartooning is welcome; so submit and receive feedback from others. (2) Please resize your images before posting. (3) Share your knowledge and (4) Remember to not be afraid of asking for critique. Most importantly, keep discussion at a civil level.
