I think the next revival movement in a sinilar vein to the OSR is going to be 3rd edition focussed. I think that granular, complex build focussed market isnt really served by 5e or pathfinder truly, and theres empty space in the market/community.

oh come on, the last time anyone played M&M was during the Bush administration. There are a couple mechanical things that will always scare players:
1) starting at zero for ability scores
2) no HP

I've played third edition, I even own the mecha supplement. I don't fundamentally disagree with their mechanics; they work for supers, but outside of that (or even street level) it starts shaking and sputtering and burning oil.

>1) starting at zero for ability scores
nobody is scared by this because the scores are equivalent to your modifier in d&d. even totally new players get that a 0 is the equivalent of an average untrained adult dude and a 10 is really really really strong (10 strength is really like having 30 strength in D&D and means you can casually lift 25 tons, you're as strong as an ancient dragon)
the no HP thing is something people either love or hate, yeah. I've also played Cortex which uses a similar not-HP mechanic based on stepping up dice and separate mental/physical stress rather than a raw hit point total so I never had an issue with it.
I would say its popularity has actually increased recently due to shit like Dispatch getting all the critical role crowd aware of capeshit and wanting to play similar ragtag band of fuckups with highly specific powers, M&M is by far the best system to try and have somebody like Phenomeman, Invisigal and Waterboy on the same team and their Complications practically write themselves. The Marvel Multiverse RPG is way more constrained and basically involves picking your "class" from existing marvel heroes, I don't know anyone who's played it for a full campaign as opposed to one shots but maybe some people like it..

I think it helps that superhero stuff is one of the genres able to pass the "why would I play this instead of 5e?" test the way stuff like Call of Cthulhu does, all the other generic high fantasy games about elves and wizards and knights and paladins (daggerheart, draw steel, pathfinder, shadowdark, tales of the valiant, shadow of the weird wizard) are a much harder sell in my experience than games like CoC or M&M where even casuals or noobs to TTRPGs intuitively understand that Boromir, Librarian Henry Armitage and Martian Manhunter are all playing by different rules in different worlds. Explaining why you HAVE to play Legends of the Five Rings and can't just call your longsword a katana in 5e is a lot harder sell
>>
>>97334346
well, as I said, I think it works great in that specific context (relatively strong supers, though idk the power level of dispatch). but I also think the superhero moment has largely passed. saying it's coming back because of one video game is like saying westerns were "back" in the 90s because of tombstone or unforgiven.

I haven't played M&M in 15+ years, so maybe I can't definitively say how players will feel about the ability scores, but anecdotally I know how people felt at the time, explaining it at the table at my friend's house. Does it make sense? Sure. Does it also feel weird? definitely.

like I understand the mechanics. I was the one who criticized them. in your response, you put M&M's 10 STR into D&D terms. ultimately, stop and think about why you felt the need to do that
>>
>>97334618
Because the most effective way to explain a new concept is to compare it to something the listener is already familiar with. If your first experience was with MnM and I was explaining DnD, then I would be using MnM to explain the mechanics of DnD. Is this really not obvious to you? Have you never taught a concept to anyone before?

Slavery as criminal punishment is always a bad idea because it introduces an element of very direct and personal profit into what's supposed to be an impartial system, heavily incentivizing its misuse.
>>
>>97338112
This, just execute everyone, much better

at least you won't have people whining about "stolen land" 300 years later or muh culture
>>
>>97337904
I ignored "massively different" because you didn't define what you meant by it. Some would say morality is massively different between the Chinese and the Japanese. If you mean straight up bizarro world "me thank you for robbing me" shit you gotta define those terms.
>>
>>97338112
Let me try a response: slavery is an inherently good idea because it recompenses the victims for their suffering, with money earned by the criminals. It's doubly good because enslaved criminals have the chance to reform themselves while still keeping them away from innocents. It's triply good because the money they earn can also go to the state or its private subcontractors to defray the economic costs of managing crime.
>>
>>97338195
But in reality what happens when this is made a possiblity is that people will make up any excuse they can to enslave somebody so they can profit off of them, and the authorities will very much seek to perpetuate this nonsense because they also very easily stand to gain a piece of that pie.

I guess it kind of depends on what sort of game you want to run. You could use Zona Alfa and run it as a narrative skirmish campaign and RP stuff between operations without much system.

>>
>>97336337
Because there's no purpose for it. It's kind of like the shittier roblox copy of an actual auto sim. It's designed for giga brokies and children that don't know better.
EDOpro, Omega, and MD are on every platform including mobile. Two of those offering a ladder and one of those two being entirely free. And if you don't care about a ladder and just want a utilitarian sim to test in then you go EDO.
Just my anecdote, but I've got a Note 20 (base model) that's 5+ years old now and it runs all of those clients perfectly fine.
Shill tips: You can buy carrier unlocked one right now for about $200, or the ultra for an additional $50‐90 which is the better idea at this point and has a microSD slot still. I would highly recommend the Ultra for the little extra. It even has a built-in stylus too which is extremely useful for playing those clients and the SD storage will let you soak up the filesize of the bulky clients, just remember to define it to install to SD or transfer it. The display might feel a little weird but you'll get over it super quick, though it's size might not be for everyone but it does fit in pockets.

The thing I've never hear specifically called out is that wet palettes are a cost saving measure (indirectly through being a paint preserving tool). With a wet palette you can work for a session with single drops of paint where if you were using a dry palette you might need to use 5 or more drops to do the same work. And they DO work to do that, but make no mistake, wet pallets are not a pro tool used to improve painting, or help you thin your paints properly or whatever people say. Technically painting on a dry palette is marginally better, but it's such a minor difference I don't know it matters.

To that point though, some anti-wet-palettes people bring up absolutely retarded points like
>You don't see any other professional artists in other mediums use a wet palette
Yeah, that's because a professional using artist acrylics (lol) with a gelled medium that takes forever to dry and is in a 30cc blob on the palette that will take hours to dry and cost 10 dollars for a liter. and then other mediums don't have the drying issues that mini painting has. oil painters don't have this concern at all, water color and gouache kind of have the issue but that's the whole point and how the mediums work. I've seen the monument hobbies guy use that reasoning, and gee, I wonder if he has an interest in making people go through paint faster.

>>97336028
The finish you got is a bit grainy in a couple spots, don't know if it's because of the primer or the way you applied the paints but you could work on improving that. Otherwise it's solid work, everything is clean and "in lines" as far as I can see. Obvious next step would be to add some shading/blacklining.

My S4U works fine, bit if thermal expansion is the problem just get the not 16k version, the problem has nothing to do with the tilt mechanism if that is the case.

I can not really believe your part, because the photo shows loads of resin, and even if the film leaks under expansion it is still clamped down, metal to metal and glass, and viscous resin will not simply flow like water. There probably was a bit of a leak, and you made a mess out of it.

Else, if it leaked from the bottom, why is the side so crusty with resin?
>>
>>97332093
do you feel you get significantly better quality prints when running at 0.02mm layer height? Would there be a point in doing so when printing very small minis?
>>
>>97336020
I think it depends on the printer to a point. I tested .05 vs .03 on my photon mono 4k. And didnt really notice a difference. The layer lines were still there just kinda diffrent.

Now on my Elegoo Saturn 3 ultra 12k printer, I very much notice the diffrence between .05 and .03 layers. The lines are mostly gone aside from larger prints like tanks or dreadnaughts. And even then you cant see them at all after painting.
>>
My wife fucked up my Ender 3 by using some dogshit glitter fillament she bought without consulting me. It melted everywhere and made a huge mess so I'm trying to get it working again. The nozzle was unsalvageable so I replaced it, and I tried to clean out the heating unit. I'm at least getting a clean output from the nozzle, but I'm having bed adhesion issues now. I've cleaned the bed with IPA and a lint roller so it is clean and dust free. What should I try next? Things are lifting off the plate within a few minutes of the print starting, and I'm printing something I have printed successfully before.
