I might steal that for some of the factions in my space game. Rules-wise ships are split into size classes 1 (destroyer/other subcapital), 2 (cruiser) and 3 (battleship), and the human navy uses the destroyer/cruiser/battleship classification and uses the same terms for other faction's ships of similar size (with the exception of obvious carriers being referred as such), but internally other factions could use different classifications.

And here's my take on ship classification based on factions. Game rules wise, ships are supposed to be split into battleship-sized and cruiser-sized capital ships and smaller subcapital ships that operate as squadrons, so the classification is designed to roughly match that regardless of faction (though lorewise for the Collective Fleet only the core ships are in their terminology equivalent to capital ships and everything else considered to be escorts).

Where is this Ventrue mockery that you guys are talking about? Maybe I'm blind but I don't really see that much.

Also in-setting, most of the "oh the ventrue are so shit and rich and dumb and shit" talk is by clans that desperately want their slot or got BTFO by them. It's like the crying wojak wearing the smug wojak mask. A lot of writing in the Lasombra Clanbooks won't shut up about how much better they are than the Ventrue, they bring them up frequently, whereas the Ventrue don't waste nearly as much time talking about the Lasombra. That paints a picture to me about who is more secure in their position. There's also the fact that at bare minimum, the Brujah, Lasombra, Setites, and Tzimisce all rate the Ventrue as one of if not their top enemy. Tzimisce might hate Tremere more, but I do recall one book having the Tzimisce stereotype refer to the Ventrue as being "worthy of being called archenemy". Which honestly is high praise from the Tzis.

I wouldn't call them over-wanked though, because they have no special snowflake discipline at all. There's also the fact that their success is not the result of uber-genius super ventrue out keikaku-ing everyone, but the fact that their clan structure and embrace culture is so robust that they bounce back quite well. They have had losses, but they recover from them far better than other clans, and they're excellent at pivoting to changes in the mortal world.

Unfortunately no. Holy Items, like Holy Water, actually require highly specific and complex rituals to be able to hold their own Faith rating. Without the item having it's own abilities, you're limited to the standard True Faith powers.

Anything around WW1 or Interwar has heroes as low key players, they are a hidden society element with many as detectives or heroes fighting the new emergence of technology/science.

The story of KPDH is pretty straightforward and you can easily do a follow up with new demon lord/something goes wrong with the magical barrier thing/they encounter bullshit while on a foreign tour. IMO the tough part with the genre in tabletop is making the "normal life" half of the story work and be engaging.

After about 8 years since I last DM'ed a game, I've been asked to run a session.
Unfortunately my books - adnd, 2e, 3e, 3.5, 4e, and 5e are in storage two states away.
And i prefer physical copies. Thanks to critical role and the movie DND books have gone up in price which is weird.

Is it viable to run 4e in 2025? I don't remember hating it and I still remember some home rules to streamline combat to speed it up a touch.
Does anyone have suggestions for 1-3lvl adventures or campaign settings?

Seeker desperately needed Primal Power 2 like how Paladin desperately needed Divine Power to be worth playing. Instead it got a single Dragon Article that added like 7 new powers that doubled down on its soft control instead of helping it even look at Wizard or Invoker.

The best way to play Seeker is to Hybrid it with Ranger. Sure that drags Ranger down but it drags Seeker up to not being a waste of space. It also makes Ranger the pseudo magic class it was in other editions.

I'm totally not mad that Arcane Archer is my favorite archetype and its hot dogshit in every single edition.

Assassin's biggest problem was it was a class focused on backloading damage in a game where everyone else was focused on frontloading damage, so odds are you either popped your shrouds early ands did jack shit, or you wait a few turns and whoever you were stacking shrouds on is dead.

My table played with the idea of letting any PC activate Shrouds for extra damage. It turned Assassin into a fairly interesting support Striker, but I wouldn't say it measured up well comparatively. If we ever get a game going with one again soon, the next fix was going to be Shrouds being a meta currency Assassin's could spend and regain at a rate of 1/Round on their turn. I get the feeling that would have worked out better.

I feel like for small scale skirmish gaming like that 1st and 2nd edition is probably the way to play. But that's not to say that 3rd and 4th and the Kill Team and Combat Patrol rules of that era, Kill Team of 3rd(KT came about in late 3rd through white dwarf, late 200s IIRC) and 4th are a wholly different beast from what it is now, do a lot to scratch that itch.
