Most DIY terrains (rock, hills, ground, mountains, castle wall, ruins,...) are made from Styrofoam with a hot wire cutter, even GW used it for their diorama. Nowaday there're 3d print, and plasticard.
>>
>>96500220
I hate that, I have not allowed owning 3D printers to stop me from traditional hobbying processes where they make sense, like I see people printing whole blood bowl pitches which takes a couple killograms of filament or more at over $100, whereas I do my pitches from foamcore or thin wood panels with glue, sand, etc... for maybe $20 and have a small number of scatter objects that are printed to go on them.

Why do most sci-fi settings sideline space combat but instead mostly focus on ground warfare?
6 replies and 1 image omitted. Click here to view.
>>
>>96502373
because shooting at shit on the ground is infinitely more entertaining than space battles.
>>
>>96503118
A possible real-life explanation for Option #3 not becoming "realistic" is that most belligerents will want to capture each others' planets/stations/spacecraft instead of simply annihilating them. They want to live on the habitable planet or keep the jump gate operational, not merely reduce the number of habitable planets in the system or make space travel more difficult.
>>
>>96503118
>>96503153
Just make option #3 rare, expensive, and mutually assured. Of course you wouldn’t have many direct wars, but there is plenty of room for the backwater thirdies of the universe to duke it out in their stead.

How could space combat where 300,000 km (one light second) is considered "short range" be made fun or romantic enough to strategize or tell stories about?
>>
>>96502373
Ground war is cool. Space combat can be cool if you do ww2 style dogfights. But having capital ships move slow as fuck isnt that interesting to write.

Honestly, I love drawfags because they are one of the few ways we can see things in WoD that no one else is making art for.
Like, take that Fomori, Nephandi Wednesday looking family portrait. Not even in my wildest dreams I can see Paradox greenlitting it, especially with their bland ass W5.

There are many things in WoD I would to see drawn, like say Chulorvian Elders. Or sections of the Labyrinth or a dramatic rendetion of the opening of the Mage The Ascension 2nd Edition etc.

>>

not at all

but it's an understated fact that keeping a consistent palette (black&white being an easy one) helps in making artworks that are heterogeneous in style and quality feel part of the same atmosphere more than having the same artworks be different in palettes as well

furthermore, black and white artworks were usually traditional artworks, so generally done on a higher payroll and created over longer timeframes, and a result, of a higher quality

A weak healing spell can fully fix an inexperienced fighter's life threatening wounds, but a veteran of many battles requires high level healing to mend a slight graze. Why does skill and luck render healing magic less effective?
>>
>>96503304
The veteran fighter expended effort and potentially took bruises and scrapes to turn away a would-be life threatening attack. The amount of healing to make the weak fighter not almost dead and the strong fighter no longer bruised is the same.

I'm always confused on how to play against royal knight decks, generally speaking. Should I be rushing their security or trying to remove the knights? It gets annoying because they get a lot of good things from hitting their security, along with high DP mons, and it's not easy removing their cards from the field. And then there's Cool Boys and Omekamons. Maybe it's cause I'm a new player, but facing it is a headache.
>>
>>96502755

Depends on your own deck, but removing bodies is usually my strategy. But there's definitely a lot of factors at play and you will have to adjust our plays accordingly

What size would you recommend for the drill? Will it all drain out with just 1mm diameter?

Might work. I would go a little bigger but it depends on what part of the model you are drilling into. Aim for the biggest void area.

Just use a small size then go up if you need to. If it doesn't drain enough go bigger.

Trench Crusade General - /trench/
Weird love Edition

>What is Trench Crusade?
An alternate weird history 28mm/32mm tabletop skirmish game still in a pre-release playtesting phase but with the full release slated for this year. Based on the art and lore of Mike Franchina, whose illustrations you may have seen floating around on /tg/ for a several years now, and designed by Tuomas Pirinen, one of the original creators of Mordheim. It's grimdark, it's visceral, it's awesome, and it's very Blanchitsu.

>What Trench Crusade is not
TC not an excuse for you to discuss IRL religion, history that didn't occur in the game, culture war shit, or discord bullshit on /tg/. Keep it on topic.

>What's the QRD on the background?
The Knights Templar turned heretic and opened the Gates of Hell when they took Jerusalem during the First Crusade. Over 800 years later the war is still ongoing as technology has developed to a pseudo diesel-punk WW1 standard and a third of Humanity has sided with the Infernal Princes.

>How do I get started?
All the files are free online, but are split between the website and the discord. They have all been collected here for your convenience:

Main takeaway from them is to roll dice on a greenscreen so you can color-chroma it out later and overlay it onto the action in post.

Wait a minute, so if "the Old World" is set centuries before Warhammer Fantasy Battles has black Empire troops, female Bretonnian Knights and Dwarf Warriors, does this mean some horrific regression happened by the time of Karl Franz???
