What do you do with disengaged players? My group has a couple of games a week. When I run, they seem totally uninterested in NPCs or any plot that does not directly involve them or their backstory. If another player has a plotline happening they only put in the minimum and don't talk to any characters. The group has been on a ship travelling with a group of five Marines for almost a year now. Those marines have had arcs and stories, and the players couldn't name one. The paladin couldn't even point to the one his kid brother had a crush on and constantly followed around on the ship. As a player it's worse. The other GM has noticed much the same, saying I am the only one engaging, but I talk and roleplay with the group and do everything from revealing major secrets about big players in the story to saying we might have to kill the wizard and they don't react in any noticable way. I'm out of ideas, what can I do here?
>>96645654you already said you couldnt find anyone to play with you though. you probably just collect books, huh?
>>96645669I fear your low-tier playoid brain failed to follow a thread and confused me with someone else. I run one game and play in two others

>>96645693Only one? Be aspirational! Some day I will con a group into letting me take LoGaS off the shelf and give it a shot.
Hi!I'm planning on going to an FLGS to play games for the first time. Besides general politeness and hygiene what are some other things I should be aware of before going to the FLGS to not give off a bad first impression of myself to the community?

>>96636748Always shower before game.My LGS had to make this a requirement after some people had repeated appalling BO problems.
>>96636748Wash, shower brush your teeth, don't be a stinky fuck
>>96636926>Is it better to just avoid such players that are wearing such things to minimize the chance of drama through saying the wrong thing unintentionally?yeah and like the other guy said, dont take bait. Eg. any opinions on female space marines, saying people who play germans in ww2 games are nazis or secretly fascist, opinions on people who paint swastikas on krieg models, and any irl politics avoid like the plague. Its the same as being socially courteous in any other irl situation. Responses if any to those advances should be the most wide eyed normie npc response you can muster. (female space marines yeah thats cool if people wanna do that with their lore and models thats fine) (yeah that shooting was terrible, I wish we could all just get along) (israel and palestine? I don’t know enough about that to give an opinion) Be as boring as you can about that stuff and eventually they’ll stop trying. Don’t gossip, gracefully avoid any prodding to get something hot out of you, and dont speak ill words of anyone including people you dont like. Let the other people be socially tone deaf weirdos, don’t fall into it yourself. People will want to be friends with you if you do this even half-right.

>>96642059>>96642124Both very beautifulBoth very powerful
For /mysetting/ (when I bother to do anything with it) both coexist. Practical armour is of course effective against conventional weapons. However, conventional weapons are not the only weapons that exist- battle magic and enchanted arms are things to consider. A bolt of red lightning from an annihilist mage will make a mockery of even the finest suit of mundane armour, but will be repelled by magical wards. However, most such wards that are powerful enough to be of use have to be applied to something, and that something has to be visible, as a large part of how magic works is symbology. The most common "medium" for these wards is body paint, as not only is it simpler to fashion and enchant compared to an actual garment, but the very "direct" nature of it (magical symbols painted directly onto the body with specially prepared pigments) actually makes the wards more effective. As such, a skilled warrior who knows a good ward priest would be better off going practically naked and clad in the warpaint and using a shield (although some potent spells of protection can defend against physical attacks too, making even shields somewhat redundant) than wearing full armour. Notably, the more substantial the garb, the harder it is to enchant it; paint is the most efficient, powerful and easy to use (if you know the rites to enchant the pigment, you can make the stuff) and very light clothing is still fairly simple to craft, as long as the design of the garb is conducive to the spell. Actual enchanted armour is extremely expensive to produce; a suit of well crafted and protective gothic-like armour that offers the full protection against magic of decent warding paint would bankrupt a kingdom to produce. Also, the protective garb- be it paint, a cloak, a shield, armour or a bikini- MUST be visible and exposed for the wards to work- you can't wear the paint under full armour, it won't do anything! This also dovetails nicely with "real" combat nudity uses (psyching out foes, etc).

Hey, weebs. I bought some vanguard fight cards, because I'm addicted to cardboard rectangles. I don't really know how to play, but I like everything about the undead pirates, and Shaman King, but I heard the rules with the game changed or something? Are these decks not compatible or something? Is the little pamphlet that came with the deck fine to learn the game, or is there a video tutorial you recommend? Also, I watched a stream 6 months ago of some tournament, and there was a prison deck that literally had an ability called imprison. I was too poor to look into it, but now I want that prison deck. I love playing prison decks in every other card game (Lantern Control, Mono Red Prison, Honchkrow, etc.). So, does anybody know what I'm talking about?
>>96645490There are three formats, with the primary being Standard that has cards denominated by a D icon in the bottom left of every card that's usable with only a handful of exceptions; the Prison deck you mention is a notable deck in this format, while Shaman King is also a deck that can be used. And the official YouTube channel does have two relevant tutorial videos, one a few years ago and one from around a year ago.
>>96645575Is there a standard rotation? What are the other formats? Are the actual game rules for these formats different, or just the card pool? And where can I find a decklist for this prison deck? Thanks. Sorry if I'm a sperg.

We had a thread earlier discussing how Delta Green would do in the universe of WoD and it made me curious; how would the Ordo Veritatis do if they were the ones transported and tasked with eliminating all Vampires? Assuming that they have all their government contacts and resources without needing to fight every other threat in the WoD, could they actually wipe out every vampire?
>>96638141>can't kill them because anonymousBrother it's a horror ttrpg, there's so many agents dying left right and center in each of the adventures>can't kill them because they get recruited randomly all over the worldSo? You kill the ones after you, not the ones investigating some random shit in Tibet or whatever.>would have to destroy humanity itself to wipe them outYeah man, because, fucking, Cthulhu, would have a HUGE problem doing something like that...
>>96638141The OV is in the same tier as Delta Green, as in they are hopelessly outmatched and just barely holding on, but, because the setting needs to, y'know, make sense, they are given juuuust enough to not completely die.In the case of Delta Green, that comes naturally from the fact the Mythos barely pays any attention to humanity and works in (mostly) predictable ways, so when something does happen it's usually not "full scale mi-go invasion with 10 million continent bursting warships" and more akin to "crazy cult of 60 or so people try to birth the spawn of Shub-Niggurath". With OV, since the setting is so metaphysical, the way they balance it out is by making the OV itself metaphysical too, by making it a weird brain virus people have, like humanity's in-built immune system against OD fuckery. In both cases however, if the situation gets too out of hand ONE time, it's over, so don't act like it's anywhere close to an HFY setting. It just so happens that the OV would be a very competent foe to the Camarilla, is all, because of the advantages they have and the disadvantages Vamps have as a whole.
>>96638549>>96638688These. The OV may be larger and more powerful than most horror organizations, but their cosmology is so utterly fucked that it doesn't even matter. It only takes on successful Esoterror plot to shred the Membrane completely and then we're all fucked. They don't have the power to stop this, because Esoterrorism is as much a metaphysical set of ideas the OV are and behind the scenes, older and more terrible cults do shit that's just as Membrane eroding. Factor in them having ZERO means of stopping or countering the Ocean Game, and you have a pretty horrible state of affairs that the OV simply can't resolve. They do great in other settings because most other settings aren't teetering right on the cusp of absolute annihilation from a feather getting blown on too harshly. But that's purely because they can actually make use of their resources instead of desperately putting everything into stopping every single random fire the world over before it swallow the world whole.
>>96638620>Yeah man, because, fucking, Cthulhu, would have a HUGE problem doing something like that...Or anything from Kingdom Death. Or Xas Irkalla.
>>96638688>In both cases however, if the situation gets too out of hand ONE time, it's over, so don't act like it's anywhere close to an HFY setting.Heck, the Empty One is already an apocalypse scenario. The only reason everyone isn't already dead is because the ritual to incarnate it is nigh-impossible to bring about.

>>96644471No sadly there isn't. I'm slowly working in that direction though. If you'll look higher up in this thread I've put together a document that compiles all the RT articles published in WD as well as some in 3rd party magazines. The issue with compiling an RT Battle Bible is that there were really a few distinct phases of the game. Core book alone is kind of it's own beast, then the first batch of WD articles made some substantial changes, then the Realms of Chaos books add their own elements, etc. I think it'd be best to organize it by core rules then chronological "batches" or something. If anyone wants to help on such a project that would be great.
