What is your setting's game's tax policy in your game in your setting?
>>97335773
>>97337986Hey the current former Mayor of Detroit balanced the books and got people moving in again. He's running as an indepedent fo Michigan. He's screwed because no one thinks Mayor of Detroit and thinks successful.
>>97335711I understand the bridges and roads toll, that's understandable 2000 years, today, and in a fantasy world. Now why the fuck would shipped cargo have taxes? Unless you are also upkeeing the seas, with pirate chasing ships and providing insurance in case of ship destruction on the sea-roadOtherwise what the fuck is the tax used for
>>97341925It's a sales tax that covers use of the dock, the marketplace, and pays for the policing needed to keep thieves out of a place filled with imported luxuries.
>>97332525Lawful types tend to pay it, enforce it's collection and it's use to maintain society. Chaotics try to avoid it or mess up tax collection by the Lawfuls. Evil use the tax system to benifit only themselves and to fuck up others, Good types tend to use it to help those in need. Neutrals tend to do the minimum required as long as they arnt bothered to much, but can dip into any of the other alignment groups if pushed to far by opposing alignment groups.
Feels like forever since we had one of these.
an old one

>>97340848Good first effort. The placement of the beams looks kind of random, and for your next building I think you should try to emulate historical designs more closely. The Youtube channel Devs and Dice makes great scratchbuilt Mordheim terrain that is easy to copy or use for inspiration. The only downer about his designs is that he uses a ton of individually cut foam bricks that require investment in a foam cutter to emulate properly.
>>97340934Yeah, there's plenty to learn still. I had actually not intended to start this yesterday but I got carried away so I wasn't following any specific design or aesthetic principles. More than anything I just wanted to get a feel for the materials and tools I got, and kinda work out the properties of everything.
Any War of the Ring players here?
>>97339983The design to take Imperial and Chaos weapon parts is clever. But i find the design rather ugly. The prow is too flat and the weapon ports looked cramped/ugly.
Previous thread: >>97215703GURPS is a modular, adaptable system, capable of running a wide range of characters, settings, and play styles, with a level of detail varying from lightweight to completely autistic.Optional rules allow you to emulate different genres with a single system, or even switch genres within a single game.A nearly complete archive of GURPS books can be found by using the image. Never post direct links to the archive anywhere in plain text.If you're wondering where to start:- The Basic Set covers everything, including a lot of optional rules you probably won't use.- A genre guide can be found in the archive, under Unofficial/GURPSgen. It tells you what extra books and articles you may find useful for many common genres.- How To Be a GURPS GM is a good read even for players.- GCS (gurpscharactersheet.com) is an excellent character-builder software, with page references to all the books and the option to export to both Foundry and Fantasy Grounds.Thread question: What are some systems or you would like to include or see included in a campaign, but haven't been able to? They don't have to be the main focus of the game, having them only as something on the side is okay.
>>97340018You get halved ranged rapid strike (not that meaningful since quick shot can be fully bought off), free CQB skill at max level, +2 to hit with most weapons at all times, full scope aiming for one second of aim. These benefits don't sound amazing but in actual play, the guy with Gunslinger is vastly more effective than a similar point level combatant without it. He aims better, he's more mobile, he's stronger at long and short range, ect. It is brought down a little bit by a lot of its key features being purchasable separately through perks, techniques, ect.
>>97339716Mostly it just seems like the Flesh Wounds rule (Basic Set, p. 147). They get hit with deadly, or at least limb-wrecking, force and then only take superficial injuries. The classic version of this kind of injury is being shot in the shoulder. In the normal GURPS rules the shoulders are part of the arms. I can see some kind of perk or campaign switch that treats them as part of the torso instead.Arguably many action heroes functionally have Injury Tolerance (Unbreakable Bones; Limited, bullets) (Powers, p. 53).Arguably, the normal GURPS rules for crippling limbs are a bit excessive, especially for piercing damage. It should probably be possible to walk on a leg that has been hit with a single AP assault rifle round unless you got unlucky and it hit the bone, or tumbled in a really messy way. There is a bit of redundancy in the muscles and tendons which means one fairly small hole won't totally wreck the limb's function. This is less the case with arms, which are smaller and require a lot more range of motion and fine control to function.
>>97339802Generally speaking, yes. It's equivalent to Trained by a Master rather than Weapon Master: a tax on access to cinematic skills, techniques, and (most importantly) perks which comes with some neat effects to partially offset the cost. Some cinematic gun perks are ridiculously powerful, worth well over [1].Typically, you can get equivalent performance with 3 levels of skill, a couple of levels each of Close-Hip Shooting and CQB, and the Cool Under Fire perk. However, that package comes to around [17] and Gunslinger with the 'Gun Rack' limitation restricting it to one skill is [15]. Arguably the techniques to offset bulk penalties are a questionable choice, but removing them only gets you down to [13]. Cool Under Fire isn't quite as good as the Gunslinger ability to just ignore all pop-up penalties, but simply raising skill also raises the default for other specialties and works for the rare uses which aren't shooting, so I think the build without Gunslinger is still slightly better.Gunslinger works best with 'heavy' weapons like super-sized pistols and anti-material rifles, which have significant bulk and work better with rapid strike or dual weapon attack (which effectively bypass recoil). It becomes significantly less useful with 'sensible' choices like assault rifles.Fine (Accurate) versions of weapons with basic Acc 3 (for pistols) or 6 (long-arms) allows you to get +4 to hit, which raises the value of the package to the low twenties. There are only a handful of guns for which this works, but the option is there.
>>97341392>Injury Tolerance (Unbreakable Bones; Limited, bullets)How much would the limitation "Limited: bullets" be worth?>>97341515I guess I should be use the gun rack limitation more.

What is the counterculture of 2020s, that could be used as the basis for a contemporary countercultural tabletop game?Take the World of Darkness for example, which was so grounded in the the counterculture of the 90s that it comes across as dated and strange today. How would you update the World of Darkness so that it better represents the counterculture of today?Nightmare Mode: Talk about more than just politics. There's more to rebellion against the status quo and the prevailing social norm than who you vote for.
So the actual counter culture is... working for the man? Being part of the system?

>>97339545Beyond the sex pervert elements of the designs and some overal with color schemes, I don't really see much resemblance to slaanesh stuff. Slaanesh aesthetics weren't a source of inspiration for me in the first place, if anything out of 40k, the stuff I drew aesthetic pointers from were tyranid guns for pretty obvious reasons. The general design process for the look of the sisterhood was generally just driven by my attempt to come up with an interesting look for a biotech fertility cult that would make sense in universe. The sex pervert elements in the aesthetics of the sisterhood are intentional, given their beliefs and role within the setting. Some of my older designs for them were already treading similar ground though the look was less refined and more ugly mostly because I was terrible at drawing women back when I drew this.
>>97339615I do enjoy armor-of-the-many-boob with her pelvic-octopus-whip.It's... horny.
>>97339745The idea with the Aphorine devotees is that they are essentially biochemical warfare specialists. Their augmentation has turned their bodies into living cauldrons for production of potent chemical concoctions, drugs and hormones they can use to either subdue, beguile or just outright kill their victims. Basically, they are akin to living censers that in combat, emit a cloud of mind altering vapors. Just getting too close to them without rebreathers may be dangerous and even rebreather aparatuses may not help because many of the chemicals the aphorine devotees can unleahs are skin permiable. The octopus like "caressid" symbiote plays a vital part in this process as can use the basal compounds produced by the augments of the aphorine and catalyze them into even more potent chemicals and toxins and transfuse them into it's stinging tentacle whip, allowing the Aphorine to basically deliver lashes laced with whatever mixture of drugs, toxins or hormones they desire to inflict on their victims.

>>97341644>Why do people get so violently upset at the idea of Exalts serving mortals? Even in real life you can very easily observe that actual rulers are never the strongest or even the smartest. What exactly makes you believe that those dynamics would suddenly change just because the subjects can get personally more powerful?Because Exalted are also notably more headstrong at minimum (they have a very high base Willpower, there should be no Exalt who can be described as timid or unsure of themselves), and because the Exalted all have access to unnatural social skills and abilities, and have ways to use them which aren't obvious. It's not just strength and smarts that the Exalted have access to - if the supernaturally savvy, manipulative, good-looking, and charismatic guy who nobody even knows is Exalted and can't be discriminated against even if they did can't get into power, how can the mortals?
