Time for the "You are playing it wrong" postInspired by the post at >>97340961Only roll when failing has an impact on the characters, even if its just taking up time or using resources. If failing doesn't mean anything, use the Auto Success mechanic as a basic threshold (or assume eventually rolling a 20 over 20 checks). When exploring in dungeons or the wilderness, remember that travel speed matters. Exploration rounds take 1 minute each and you move at 10 times your speed per round. If you are travelling at a fast speed you move one third more but take -5 on your Perception checks. If you are travelling at a slow pace it is at two thirds normal pace but this lets you roll stealth (yes two thirds, not half speed).Every action taken in Exploration takes one minute, that includes picking the lock, looking in one 10 foot square, or trying to break down the door. When making Skill checks during Exploration, you are expected to keep the same check unless circumstances change. This include stealth and tracking. Stealth is made against the PASSIVE perception check of anyone that may see them, and failing that means they are on alert, they dont know you are there until they actively look. Roll another Stealth check against their ACTIVE check. Also Passive Perception is a floor, if you roll lower than this you use passive as your active result. This is confirmed as intended.Darkvision makes things black and white and Dim Light. Dim Light gives disadvantage on perception checks, giving you -5 on your passive check. Similarly Advantage gives +5.Long Rests give back half of your total Hit Dice, not all of them. Short Rest Hit Dice spending lets you spend one at a time. Yes, an hour of attempted Long Rest counts as a Short Rest.Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
I only allow people who have DMed before to play in my games. I have heard that there is a DM shortage and in my magnificent evil I have chosen to hoard DMs so that other players will have nothing! Ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!
>>97347964ContinuedSocial Rolls are not mind control and have a very clearly defined chart. The DC is determined by their attitude and what you are asking them to give up in exchange. Buying their favour or saying something particularly persuasive in line with their goals (they want diplomacy, you offer peace for instance) can temporarily increase the attitude, conversely saying something offensive will lower the atiitude. Attitude also impacts the most they will be willing to risk in helping you.A Long Rest consists of 2 hours of Light Activity and up to just under an hour of Strenuous Activity (Walking fighting and casting a spell). You can have these split through out your 8 hour rest period, so yes this means during your long rest you can cast spells but if your total exertion time is over 1 hour, or 2 hours for light activity, you must start again.A natural 20 and natural 1 does impact Skill rolls. If a check would succeed and you roll a 20, it is a greater success than normal. Failing and rolling a 1 gives a worse result. You may also opt for a success with a cost on checks that fail by 1 or 2 points.Mob mechanics exist for swarms of small guys and mooks. Read them.Creatures count as cover for ranged attacks. The Difficulty chart goes from 5 to 30. RAW 30 is the highest difficulty any check that isn't opposed can be.Comment too long. Buddyfight should have its own game. Cardfight Vanguard should be getting support for both Premium and V-Premium. Twice a year, minimum. Cardfight Zero have never been canceled. Dear Days should be cheaper and more of a story focused RPG/Adventure game. Weiss is supposed to contain the collabs. >Slayers D20 SystemDL'd this through reddit, and HOLY SHIT this kind of system is almost exactly what I've always wanted D&D magic to be. I haven't read all of the spell descriptions, but even skimming a few pages suggest there are a lot of overlapping blasting spells? I haven't seen the anime, so I can't judge how well that mimicks the world of "Slayers", but it's always been the kind of aesthetic I wanted to see in D&D magical combat.(Every charop board and discussion I've ever seen says "blasting is literally the worst kind of magic, playing a [magic user] who isn't starting every combat by turning into a grizzly-bear or Always Targeting Will Saves is wasting everyone's time". Dammit, I WANT the 'magical artillery' playstyle to be viable and fun!)>>97314839>Same as they are now. A lot of spells are way better than [they] should be.A DM has the right (some might even call it an obligation) to take a chainsaw to content that doesn't fit their setting or campaign. Polymorph spells are a gamebreaker? Declare that the 'rules of magic' in the setting just don't work that way. Mind-control magic can't be used to bypass entire plots if it doesn't exist (except in hostile hands as a plot device).Hell, it might be worth it just for cutting down on the 'magic-user analysis paralysis' that >>97308348 mentions.

>>97347844Hello? Anon? >>97347862
>>97347862The islamic cult is too far distanced from Islam to still be considered Islamic instead of its own new thing. You don't consider Islam an offshoot of Christianty because it continues the myth of Jesus, do you?
>>97347965Would I claim there's no relation between Christianity and Islam? Uh, no, I definitely wouldn't. I don't think you would either anon, I think you're just arguing out of stubbornness by now.I'd say there's a pretty strong relation, in fact a direct throughline from Christianity to Islam actually. And I don't really think it's technically wrong to call Islam an offshoot of Christianity or a Christian heresy, it pretty much literally was. Offshoot sounds a bit belittling though, considering Islam is its own huge religion.
Any good RPGs for doorkicking combat? Something kinda slick but hyper lethal, letting the PCs take down most mooks pretty quickly but always having the chance to lose it all with poor tactics. >>97347950the real-time cooldown of the PlayStation games wouldn't translate well to a tabletop game.the Game Boy Color game is a surprisingly fun little RPG (very questionable character portrait sprites aside), sort of a Final Fantasy x Pokemon thing. it uses a standard MP/mana system.points-based casting could work. spells in Harry Potter require learning and some level of concentration. i don't know if they're literally infinite (flipendo, flipendo, flipendo!) but for the sake of a game you could say "your Concentration Levels and Magical Energy are low. roll a d100 against Concentration. add your Magical Studies bonus, since this is one of your most-practised spells".
>>97347975>Ftms get voice changes and body hair for free, MTFs have to train it and get laser. >>97347914>it's not like steroids or something. It's literally one of the most popular kind of steroids. Previous thread: >>97215703GURPS is a modular, adaptable system, capable of running a wide range of characters, settings, and play styles, with a level of detail varying from lightweight to completely autistic.Optional rules allow you to emulate different genres with a single system, or even switch genres within a single game.A nearly complete archive of GURPS books can be found by using the image. Never post direct links to the archive anywhere in plain text.If you're wondering where to start:- The Basic Set covers everything, including a lot of optional rules you probably won't use.- A genre guide can be found in the archive, under Unofficial/GURPSgen. It tells you what extra books and articles you may find useful for many common genres.- How To Be a GURPS GM is a good read even for players.- GCS (gurpscharactersheet.com) is an excellent character-builder software, with page references to all the books and the option to export to both Foundry and Fantasy Grounds.Thread question: What are some systems or you would like to include or see included in a campaign, but haven't been able to? They don't have to be the main focus of the game, having them only as something on the side is okay.

We're going to have to come up with a phrase for the new era of Warhammer 40,000 ushered in by the Amazon TV show, DoW 4 and Total War 40k, and increased market value of Games Workshop.nu40k isn't going to cover it. nu40k is already bad enough for many of us from headier days like 1st through 4th edition. You are going to see horrific debasements to the thing you know and love that you will still see with your eyes closed. Every 80 IQ person with internet access will have an opinion on Warhammer without knowing what a Tau Remora Drone is.

>>97344553>>97344605DoW4 will either flop or at best people will beat campaigns and uninstall it. Gay krauts will fuck it up, that's given, they clearly have no idea what they are doing nor do they feel the setting.Whatever Cavill and Amazon are doing has a high chance of being so shit that it will forever mark 40k as bad and cringe for normalfags and thus halt it's momentum. Like Rings of Power or Netflix Witcher. A blessing in a disguse.TW40k tho is a guaranteed massive success. Might be the most popular strategy game even, challenging HoI4. And it will live on for years.Dark Heresy will do far better than other Owlcat games and most of other games in a genre, but it's still just an isometric crpg which will limit it's reach.SM3 will be just SM 2.5 and so will do even better as well.
>>97347153>Dark Heresy will do far better than other Owlcat games and most of other games in a genre, but it's still just an isometric crpg which will limit it's reach.Owlcat games actually put spotlight on parts of the setting that have a bit more nuance, complexity and grittyness instead of on another instance of heroic muhreen bolter porn, while still having plenty of your trademark 40k grimderp and fanaticism. So this is one of the very rare instances where secondaries wanting to get into the setting because they liked the adaptation a lot might end up being somewhat positive for the quality of the fandom.Like you said though, it's too text focused, too autistic mechanically and not flashy enough to actually be a genuine big success, rather than just successful for a crpg

i miss the days when adaptations weren't 'accurate'. i don't know why nerds automatically think loyalty to the source material = betterer film/show.everyone likes Spider-Man 1 and 2 and it's fuck-all like the comics. and they made the X-Men wear black tacticool suits, that was the style at the time. The Shining is supposedly very different to the book, and it's great. i've not read Rebecca either, but Hitchcock made a great film.
