>>97169471
TCGs are just more profitable, specially if they're from a well known IP.

For anyone trying to make a game, I think an ECG is a better option 90% of the time. Even with crowdfunding, your game might not last more than a year or two as a TCG. There's no reason to go for a TCG model, unless you only care about making profit.

>>
>>97169344
>You got it wrong. If this is your perception on OSR styles of play I'm not surprised of your attitude. The point is for the players to make ingenious plans to get the treasure without endangering their characters. Trick, bribe, outmaneuver, trap, cajole, scare or sneak by the monsters etc. Whatever you can come up with that makes sense within the (consistent) fiction and the basic fundamental rules or rulings.
There's really nothing stopping anyone from doing this with any edition. OSRfags thinking they've cracked some special secret riddle by touting this shit are just kind of exposing that they didn't actually read any of their books as closely as they pretend to.
>>
>>97169465
The whole is greater than the sum of its parts.
For example D&D 4e is a tactical combat game. If you solve challenges and defeat your foes without violence, you'd better play with a rulebook that's not 99% combat rules and character options that effect mainly combat.
You are right that nobody is stopping you from playing in whatever style in any edition, but should you? Go run a survival dungeon crawl in 5e or CoC cosmic horror investigation adventure in 4e, and then tell me the system does not matter.
>>
>>97169563
>Go run a survival dungeon crawl in 5e
...You're aware that 5e was built to enable that, right? That there's actually a pretty active OSR-using-5e scene, right?
CoC in 4e is just you shitposting a bit, but I'm actually concerned about what kind of rock you live under if "survival dungeon crawl in 5e" is some sort of impossible challenge to you, or even something that isn't a popular option played by thousands of groups.

The average CGL discord user is a mouth breathing retard with no social awareness or emotional intelligence. They can't fathom a scenario with social etiqiette. These are the types that think Clan mech-riding Death Commandos is fine and that there is nothing wrong with smoke cloudwalls preventing your opponent from playing the game. They're morons.

American voice actors are not celebrities.
This guy has voiced hundreds of characters, incredibly famous and memorable characters, characters I can guarantee you've heard and can immediately imagine their voice and possibly even quote some of their lines, and if he was standing next to you in line for half an hour you likely wouldn't have noticed.

Hell, you could eavesdrop on him having a whole conversation in his normal speaking voice and might not recognize who he is.

Iirc the small guy was inconclusive since he had a Rouge ability to reroll ones. Theres also the video of Liam Neeson rolling and cheering for a 20 and Matt looked at him and asked really? Did you really? With a disappointed look.

REM sleep is when the brain is building short term memories back up (after the forgetting cycle that is deep sleep). Dreams are when the parts of the brain that handle trying to make sense of things are also somewhat switched on during REM sleep; usually they're disabled. (Those parts are deeply involved with why we can't build truly intelligent AI yet, FWIW.) The brain doesn't work like a computer in anything other than the absolutely vaguest sense.

The skeleton of the AP ( where the PCs go by order) stays the same , the whole interraction with iomedae was rewritten by owlcat , she actually behaves like a lawfull good character and only talks to you after you return from the abyss and this is not a problem because the moment you retake drezen " the hand" appears and start to guide and support your endeavours and speaking for her , you can be rude to iomedae and she wont hurt or do anything to you ( because different from James Jacobs , owlcat knows that lawfull good is not chaotic evil) , she will just be bothered and disappointed depending on your mythic path and words , areelu vorlesh is actually "sane" and has a reason to do what she did ( a more in depth one) while still fitting her original alignment and not being 1 dimensional chaotic evil stereotype.

I trully recommend that you buy the computer version of both WoTR and Kingmaker , the story is well done if not superior to the original while still being loyal to the source.

Wait a minute, are you telling me that Gorum could have been portrayed as the domestication of incoherent savagery that lay within the hearts of men? That instead of killing himself, he could have found some way to quell the rage that dwelled within and birth into something more honorable, martial and dare I say it, interesting?

Nah, just kill him because he's a man. We'll probably give his Portfolio to Milani later.

>if this is not the place to post those idea, i request that you guide me towards a better sub forum.
I know /lit/ has a writing general and I think you might be able to do something on /a/ for the writing part of your work.
This is /tg/ so we're more geared towards games. If the game itself is 2nd class and simply a narrative device then, as you saw play out, we instantly honed in on such and called it out it being weak.
I would suggest that if you're looking for gameplay/design critique you come here and if you're looking for literature critique you try there.
I'm going to level with you. We constantly deal with people coming into the community and asserting the "I hate modern, old yugioh was the best" position with no backing for the position beyond a game of pretend they played 25 years ago. It's like a kid saying they know how to really drive and then they floor the accelerator and wildly yank the wheel left and right when the reality is that there's a bunch of rules and that none of their expectation are correct and they were playing pretend.

Localization names are dogshit, but as for actual playability Enneacraft will likely be the best one albeit probably because it does something gross like searching something like Vanity's Ruler or Mega Zaborg off Seventh Tachyon. I suspect this deck will cause an entire second wave of floodgates to be culled.
Kewl Tune has some toxic cards like the ED rip and the level floodgate but this deck sucks trying to play into even middling boards.
Heckin' Hands is just unplayable until further support comes out and any hybrid with them is worse for their inclusion as opposed to just playing the other engine standalone.

Banlist by census makes a ton of senseus from Konami's perspective because strong budget decks will, by virtue of accessibility, trend towards higher player representation assuming power level is roughly balanced with a more expensive or significantly more difficult to pilot alternative. It's not good for the game's health, but Konami has always used the banlist as a way to rotate product first and balance the game a very distant second.
>>
It is fascinating to see how many people that play Genesys assume that if a deck has points to it, the whole deck is completely dead. Some have a threshold of like 10 points per copy, but still.

Welcome to the Old School Renaissance General, the thread dedicated to first-decade, Gygaxian D&D, its faithful modern clones, and content created for use with them. Later editions (2e and newer) should be discussed elsewhere.

Broadly, OSR games encourage a tonal and mechanical fidelity to Dungeons & Dragons played as intended by its creators from 1974 to 1983 — less emphasis on linear adventures and overarching metaplots and a greater emphasis on player agency.

If you are new to the OSR, welcome! Ask us whatever you're curious about: we'll be happy to help you get started. We also have two excellent beginner guides created by Anons with feedback from the thread that you can check for help:

Dwarven women are extremely rare in my game world. They do not exist in the open game world. Even if the players are invited into a married Dwarven home they will most likely never meet the wife.
Dwarven marriages are always arranged. If someone manages to find and marry a female dwarf, the clan she was born into and the clan she was promised to will always be an enemy of the husband who "stole her". If a player insists on playing a female dwarf she will be on the run from these two clans by default and will be treated poorly by other clans.

Nta but I do that sometimes. Space is finite, and I'm mostly in it for the hobby, not the games. I have 12 armies, so when I want a new one to work for a few years, something else has to go. That's just part of collecting warhammer for 20+ years. Some armies I'll keep forever, but others are more transient. A passing interest, I'll paint it up and enjoy it for a summer or two and then it will find a new home with someone who will hopefully enjoy it more than I did and give another hobbyist a cheaper start on their collection. I'll often buy used as well and attempt to breathe new life into an old collection.
>>
>>97169485
selling armies makes the hobby self perpetuating and is the best way to get what you want from the game. Plus it is a great motivator to paint and complete your army just to up it's value. I've gone from one TOW army (TK), sold it and used proceeds to buy two armies (Beasts and Empire) and will probably sell the beasts and pick up Kislev and another faction next.

I found it very shallow in the long run, and it was hyped by not only it's creators, but die hard fans, as being the greatest thing since gg made adnd. It's fun for three sessions, if even that, but it gets old FAST, and I get really annoyed by people who pretend like it's reverse GURPS with the same prestige. (GURPS people are their own kind of hell, but at least their system has some MEAT on it's bones!) Also, Apocalypse World, the original game that all PbtA games draw from, is such a horribly written and boring setting that I (personally) can't get past it's lingering stench. Just miserable.
>>97127795
sure, but there are PLENTY of games that literally are just apocalypse world with a different coat of paint on them. Some, I actually quite like, at least as far as their setting are concerned, but at the end of the day, they still are shallow and boring to play for more than a few sessions.
>>97128691
>>there's just so many fucking PBTA games and most of them are just reskinning other PBTA games, but changing the names of playbooks and moves to evoke the faintest whiff of the thing they are unpleasantly cramming into the PBTA mold, while not actually making moves and playbooks that properly reflect the tone or genre they are supposed to emulate

>PbtA is so simple and flexible, you can do aaaanything!
>>
>>97169295

Yeah, actually, never heard of that either. I did hear some praise on how there is a PBTA for anything (tru-ish), meaning it's flexible (true), but it's certainly not compared to GURPS and its braindead lovers.
>>
>>97168263
Yeah, but I *like* the game, for the specific niche that it holds. We haven't really talked about the idea that it exists as a pick-up-and-play game. The playbooks exist to keep time between deciding to build a character and playing the game low, the math is really simple and transparent, the GM doesn't need to stat up a bunch of opposition for the players. GM moves are a solid gming framework to work out of. I don't think it's the one true system, but in its very narrow field I think it's pretty good, on top of having interesting things to say about ttrpg design as a whole.
