GURPS is a modular, adaptable system, capable of running a wide range of characters, settings, and play styles, with a level of detail varying from lightweight to completely autistic.
Optional rules allow you to emulate different genres with a single system, or even switch genres within a single game.

A nearly complete archive of GURPS books can be found by using the image. Never post direct links to the archive anywhere in plain text.

If you're wondering where to start:
- The Basic Set covers everything, including a lot of optional rules you probably won't use.
- A genre guide can be found in the archive, under Unofficial/GURPSgen. It tells you what extra books and articles you may find useful for many common genres.
- How To Be a GURPS GM is a good read even for players.
- GCS (gurpscharactersheet.com) is an excellent character-builder software, with page references to all the books and the option to export to both Foundry and Fantasy Grounds.

Thread question: What are some systems or you would like to include or see included in a campaign, but haven't been able to? They don't have to be the main focus of the game, having them only as something on the side is okay.

Pyramid 3/120 gives a fairly comprehensive system for converting 'real-world' data like 0-60mph times and curb weight into GURPS stats. The only things which is doesn't really cover in a systematic way are Handling and Stability Rating. So you can easily take the output of the VDS and get GURPS numbers out of it. As for Hnd/SR, I'm fairly sure there will be some stats called something like Manoeuvrability and Stability Factor which have a very simple relationship (probably 1:1) to the GURPS equivalent.
I will personally make sure that there is a spreadsheet that you can use to do this if you can't be bothered to do the conversions yourself.

Makes sense. Also if the thing gets done couldn't the anon and Pulver try to make a deal with SJG to actually make it into an actual Gurps product? Most of the heavy lifting would already be done by that point.
>>
>>97343658
>Most of the heavy lifting would already be done by that point.
Most of the heavy lifting has already been done, and SJG aren't interested. They insist that it has to be edited by their editor and laid out by their layout people and turn a profit (not unreasonable, I suppose) and they didn't think those would really be possible.

Oh dear Christ I just looked back and missed that, what the Hell lmao
I mean thats not the worst, but youre a stronger soldier than me desu I'd go insane trying to fix that

I dont wanna sound like a shill but yeah it really is, both in color and with application it is so so good.
Alright so pic related are all the colors used so far, black primer from Vallejo as start, Terrestrial was the base for the entire thing, Diabolic was both painted and glazed on depending on the area. Regal was put over the Diabolic for the brighter parts while still keeping some Diabolic underneath to create that transition in color. Talisman was glazed over the Regal for the areas I wanted to work towards brighter. I ever so carefully glazed/stippled in the Neptune. Data is one of their effects and the new AP effects seem pretty forgiving so if you only add a little bit of water on the palette you can then glaze 2-4 times from the darker area into the brightest part and it will start glowing pretty well.
Diabolic base for skin, glazed over with Emerald and an even thinner glaze of Electric since its pretty bright

This guy works a lot in his latest videos with AP so if you want a comprehensive overview of some of the better vibrant colors to pick from AP then check him out, he's also obviously much much much better than me so that'll help out too: https://www.youtube.com/@heresyforheretics/videos

Google image search to find a merge of Monica Bellucci and Megan Fox's faces somebody made, there are many because they're rather similar actresses, it looked like an old PhotoShop without the use of AI.
I uploaded it to Sora (ChatGPT), it's actually not a violation of ToS because the merged face isn't a real woman btw, then Remixed it (i.e. edited it) by prompting only once (better than going through many prompts, it stops looking like said actresses) for: blue-green eyes with gold flecks, longer saturated bright red hair, hair covering and hiding both ears, a black fox fur coat, and a faint smug smirk. Incidentally, the smirk made the jaw less manly.
I never tried this before so I needed many attempts to figure out what I want and how to get it.
Again, I only had the pic edited, not generated, also mentioning the names of real people in a prompt is a no no.
Finished by editing the edit with Affinity to adjust contrast, saturation and lighting, the paid version has AI tools but I'm not paying for those.

Welcome to the Old School Renaissance General, the thread dedicated to first-decade, Gygaxian D&D, its faithful modern clones, and content created for use with them. Later editions (2e and newer) should be discussed elsewhere. And as we enter this happiest and newest of years, remember: 2e was never an old-school game, bait is for reporting, and fish is for smoking! Happy new year, grogs!

Broadly, OSR games encourage a tonal and mechanical fidelity to Dungeons & Dragons played as intended by its creators from 1974 to 1983 — less emphasis on linear adventures and overarching metaplots and a greater emphasis on player agency.

If you are new to the OSR, welcome! Ask us whatever you're curious about: we'll be happy to help you get started. We also have two excellent beginner guides created by Anons with feedback from the thread that you can check for help:

people just don't have the space they once had. i last played D&D around (effectively) a two-person card table in a cramped 'board game cafe'. 20 years earlier it was on the same fuckhuge workbenches in a warehouse the Warhammer nerds were building entire Minas Tirith cities on.

nowadays...that space alone could be an entire flat/bedsit some student would pay to live in. or for a business, that's an INSANE amount of space for storage, whether it's in a shopfront or out back. owners don't have that any more. why would you effectively sublet an area like that for free? because they really like Warhammer...?

Welcome to /wbg/, the official thread for the discussion of in-progress settings for traditional games.

Here is where you go to present and develop the details of your worlds such as lore, factions, magic and ecosystems. You can also post maps for your settings, as well as any relevant art (either created by you or used as inspiration for your work). Please remember that dialogue is what keeps the thread alive, so don't be afraid of giving someone feedback or post whatever relevant input you might have!

You doing illustrations of different weapons and soldiers in your setting has inspired me to do the same, even though I mostly focus on space stuff, though I don't do it very often (This is the latest one I did, after someone asked me to complete a set of similar pictures for all the main factions of the setting).

AD&D 2e's World Builder's Guidebook is very useful for fantasy settings. Diku (https://topps.diku.dk/torbenm/maps.msp) is good for planetary maps.

For future history/science fiction stuff, I've found far fewer sources. GURPS Space 4e has a detailed alien generator, which I turned into a Python program here: https://www.online-python.com/FcrCEyQbiw . Throne of Salt has some good tables for planet generation, particularly this one: https://throneofsalt.blogspot.com/2019/10/mothership-planet-generation.html . Sectors Without Number does the same using SWN's tables: https://sectorswithoutnumber.com/ . Traveller has lots of tables too, and this looks to be a web version of them: https://srd-tools.com/sector.html

>Douchemachine used to be the largest competition to GW.
>Now look at it and laugh
Do you have any specific gripes about Warmachine or are you just a soi GW simp that's still upset with a non-GW game reaching pick up playable status (that is before PP fumbled it)? That shit happened so long ago it's even more sad you still care.

For me, I never got into Warmahordses because sweaty tournament tryhards tried their hardest to make a sloppy imprecise miniatures wargame into a tournament game to the point of having 2D terrain. Those sorts of guys started playing 40k again, set up an international tournament rankings system, and got everyone to go along with their ugliness in return for rankings. Privateer Press may have lost, but Warmachine players won.
>>
>>97330704
Looks like a higher tech khador man o'war, which is presumably what it is

I don't mind how the new Mk4 models look, but neglecting core factions like Cryx, Menoth, Skorne and Circle for stuff like trollkin pirates kinda killed a lot of the potential hype they could have gotten
>>
>>97332225
The Mk4 lore isn't even that bad, what little there is of it. The main Mk4 rulebook is pretty anemic on lore compared to previous corebooks and there's next to zero character driven narrative posted anywhere outside of small story blurbs on their blog.

It sucks because they actually DID make a pretty great character agnostic setting with good worldbuilding with Warcaster, which got an entire hardcover book just for lore.

Mk4 Warmachine so far is:
>it's 7-ish years after the battle of Henge Hold
>Everyone has advanced in technology, Cygnar is much more tolerant of Cyriss and other religious minorities, which leads to even greater advancements in tech and magic
>The Orgoth suddenly return, having learned their lesson and made their own warjacks and blackpowder weapons. They take a big portion of Khador's coastline, a bit of Ord and an island from Cygnar
>Everyone rushes to defeat them, Cryx included

That's it. That's all that has happened in the 2-3 years since they relaunched Mk4. There aren't any boots on the ground perspectives or any character stories, it's just a wikipedia entry for the most part.

>>97332398
They DO still exist, but the original Protectorate is a shell of itself. Instead, the good guys from the faction left with Tristan (an actual lawful good paladin) to Zu, and are likely to return.
>>
>>97343812
They have kept releasing armies, but Mk4 armies are small. Like theme forces back in the day, but not optional and you can't use models between them even if they're both Cygnar, for example.

The problem is that they had to have their arms twisted to release Cryx at all, and other core factions like Menoth are only now going to get their first armies this Summer where Trollkin, Khador and Cygnar are already up to 2 separate forces.
>>
>>97344010
No, the kickstarters for Warcaster did quite well but PP was severely in the red even then, those kickstarters were all that kept the company going for several years until they flubbed the Mk4 relaunch and officially ran out of funding.

What are some good Red or Green option cards which aren't just consistency cards like Scramble or Training? I'm tired of every option card I use just being those.

Crimson Blaze
Pyro Sphere in low rarity formats
Raging Serpentine is a good card but only in Owen.dek since we don't have that many red decks you can use it in.
