I mean, it's a plot point in the Damocles Crusade that the Farsight discovered the Marines repeat the same tactics and strategies over and over, inflexibly and without variation. This made the Marines easy to predict and sealed their defeat.
>>
>>96499678
it's a plot point that the effect of the Damocles Crusade got him sent to Moloch
>>
>>96499688
The effect was that the Water Caste lionized Farsight and caused him to become a destabilizing element in the T'au Empire. The T'au populations were calling out for war rather than adhering to the truce with the Imperials.

Aun'Va sent him away from the T'au Empire on an expedition to reclaim the ground lost to the Imperials. For 40+ years, Farsight campaigned and restored the territories the Imperials took. With his mission near completion, the Ethereals decided to recall him back to the empire. Farsight refused and decided to fight the Orks massing on the borders, starting the War of Dakka, which initially became disastrous for him. The T'au Empire couldn't sent reinforcements because, unknown to Farsight at the time, they were being invaded by Gorgon. After regaining his resolve, Farsight beat back the Orks and chased them to Arthas Moloch

Except their technology is weaker than the Imperium’s
>>
>>96500475
The Imperium has better tech but their best equipment is hoarded and irrelaceable and modifying it is heresy.

Meanwhile, the Tau's frontline grunts are better equipped, they're always doing RnD, and losing a battlesuit isn't like losing a Titan or even a Terminator suit.

The robot is usable, the bull statue is usable, the bull centaurs are usable, the hobgrots are usable.
Anything else is complete garbage to the point even mantic stuff is better, since that's also in plastic.
And even then you're very much encouraged to look for non plastic solutions even for your basic troops, printing went a long way and you don't need one to get some units printed.

But as a general conclusion: these aren't chaos dwarfs, as in dwarfs with the chaos warrior reskin, nor dawi zharr, as in the discreet culture and aesthetic of the classic ones, they are dark duardin in the same way dark elves aren't strictly speaking chaos elves.
It's a big difference.

If GW is so woke when are lizard women getting back in, and when are Beastwomen going to stop being pleasant forest wives and be allowed to ravage again?
>>
>>96500562
I just dont know why you'd buy these when FW chorfs are among the easiest models to find recasts of
>>
>>96500651
I think the basic troops are okay but they need a change of hat, weapon (axe or hammer) and shield

The whole lore bit of them not using axes or hammers is fuckin tarded imo, seeing as their unit leader has one and so does one of the characters
>>
>>96500733
These are in some ways closer to bighat chorfs than legion of azgorh, and LoA has a very hunched pose with very large dwarfs for some reason, whereas this new range is more scaled to modern GW dwarfs like fyreslayers and KO

Nah it came with gummed up tubes. All the light mechs I'm working on (Stinger, Wasp, Valk) are from the initial release of the figures (around 2021ish) and are definitely lower quality than today's models.

This 2bhon

The argument over whenever HP represents meatpoints or a combination of meat, luck, stamina, and integrity of armor will never end, but here is a solution I offer.

HP is lower, BUT you can restore hitpoints when taking hostile damage by rolling on an injury table, the more injuries you have the further you roll down on the table, the early parts of the table are just things like bruises, getting winded, sprains and dislocated shoulders, but it escalates to broken limbs, spinal injuries, gouged eyes, amputation, and eventually injuries that are incompatible with life such as decapitation, a crushed brain, or your heart being destroyed. For less-lethal combat it can be an inconvenience table which covers being knocked off-balance, disarmed, or just straight-up KOed.

In short; you can heal in exchange for a penalty, but it becomes increasingly more dangerous the more you do it, eventually culminating in a risk of instant death.

D&D combat is about attritional damage over time and the bleeding of resources over a period of adventuring time (weeks for retro, days for modern). This is true regardless of edition, and the people who actually fucking play D&D know this and appreciate this.
The HP debate is not a real debate, it is a way for people who don't play D&D to bitch about D&D in a way that riles people up.

You can't deny that each edition hasn't engaged in number inflation which is what causes such debate though. If you ran into something with triple-digit HP in OG D&D you were going toe-to-toe with a god.

>What is /awg/?
A thread to talk about minis and games which fall between the cracks, or peoples' homebrew wargames.
The >>>/tg/hwg thread doesn't entertain fantasy (for good reason) and the other threads are locked to more specific games.
This thread isn't tied to a game, a publisher, or a genre, let's just talk about fun wargames. Any scale, any company, any miniatures.

>Examples of games that qualify.
A Song of Ice and Fire, Argatoria, Batman Miniature Game, Carnevale, Conquest: The Last Argument of Kings,
Deadzone, Dropfleet and Dropzone Commander, Freebooter's Fate, Frostgrave, Gaslands, Judge Dredd, HeroClix,
Kings of War, Maelstrom's Edge, Malifaux, Marvel Crisis Protocol, Masters of the Universe: Battleground, Moonstone,
Oathmark, OnePageRules, RelicBlade, Rumbleslam, Stargrave, Sludge, Urban War, Void, Warcaster, Warmachine, Xenotactics...
...and anything else that doesn't necessarily have a dedicated thread.

I just saw some lovely 15mm models on cults3d - I thought of Xenos rampant, which can accommodate multibasing and smaller scales quite well. Transporting and storing them would be a lot easier than with 28mm.

One historical Wargamer that I follow on YouTube multibases his models, but puts fewer models of skirmishers and light cavalry per base (I think they're 40x40 squares).

I like GA and go to my weeklies for it. The game's getting really expensive though, some older cards haven't been reprinted so it costs like 30-40 usd a copy, with 4 needed in a deck. Shit's rough.

Lots of my GA locals are also FAB players. I guess we're just attracted to expensive games for no reason. Heard FAB staples are expensive as shit too from them. But I don't know if they reprint. GA has reprinted a good amount of cards but also let others from the 2nd set not get reprinted yet. A rare card in the 2nd set costs $30 usd per copy. Rare only man, not even SR or UR.
Apparently they're going to some world premier over in Canada next week for FAB.

Mercy as in letting them go? rarely. While it dependent on the circumstances and I also count Guards of High Ranking enemies into that question the general M.O. is that if they surrender they are likely brought before the Law.
Why? The only reason I am not dead right now is because I was better than them/armed etc. But how many Travellers did they kill that were weaker than them? Did they listen to the crys for mercy of these people? Had I been one of them I would lie dead in the mud and they would not think of me again.

As a man in a lot of gaming communities, including 40K, Warhammer has a disproportionately high number of problematic fans

Simply put, it’s not actually that good at presenting the Imperium as awful. Most of the books follow space marines, so you’re getting a power fantasy, not a deep look into the horrific dehumanisation of the Imperium. Plus the narrative more often than not seems to scramble to try justify the Imperium, which gives further credence to a pro-fascist angle.

It was designed to be a mocking satire, but while GW still calls it that, it fails to really execute that.

40K in particular nowadays is tonally all over the place. It's simultaneously satire, parody, and a completely straight power fantasy about heroic people doing cool stuff. The Imperial Cult is a vile and hateful religious organization, and also there's an Inquisition... And they are all correct. Like, they burn "witches", but also those witches are real and could doom an entire planet through carelessness. Media literacy is not a thing if 40k fans are just following what the writing puts out
>>
>>96500694
>It was designed to be a mocking satire
No it wasn't. Fuck off retard.
>>
Cool bait thread.
Everyone and everything in 40k is awful.
Most people IRL are awful.
Being smart enough to notice merely puts you in a Cassandra-like form of torment, unlike everyone else who are in various other forms of torment.
>>
>>96500702
but doesnt the thread support it though? You cant deny early Rogue Trader to now is like night and day. GW always tries to deflect the setting is satire but only in the case an insane chud does something

It's logical for HP to represent somethiung more than meat points lest your come to some inconsistencies.
For example, enemy rolled to stab you with a dirk and succeeded with a crit, your pc takes damage but otherwise he takes no penalty; he still fights at his peak.
based on that, the gm cannot narrate something like the guy sank his blade below your ribcage or that the tip bounced off your skin, leaving nothing but a bruise
say, another character takes a cannonball but survives with no ill aftereffects, but the next attack, some jester who threw a dagger, reduce you to 0 HP
how was the pc killed with a dagger when he stood the impact of a fired steelball? pure meat points cannot explain this but abstract HP that covers a range of trait does
>cannon fires
>pc dodges right in time, but the shockwave of the impact ruins his footing
>as he was picking himself up, a jester peeres from behind a wall and fling a dagger at you
>too thrown-off because of the explosion, you fail to dodge, and the dagger inclusts itself in your sternum
>pain makes you lose consciousness
naturally this has more sense than either no sell a cannonball but immediatelly get nearly killed by a mere dagger
sure, if the pc has a supernatural ability, like a force fields that weakens with each impact, or that has some degree of immortality, you can play along these features, but that would involve giving the pc powers that he has no access to
>>
>>96494921
Yes.
>>

>best way
i forget the saying but finding the right opponents is like half the battle in wargaming. even if you're playing GW which has a lot you want these people to be fun to play against, buddies if you will.
finding/building a community is difficult, people are a herd so it pays to have some like minded people to start with. fucking my local crew started with like 10 people playing one game then hit like 40.
also it pays to put extra work in, if you can show a lot of passion it will draw the eye and help you stand out.

But fastest way is to have social skills and consider your environment.
if you're in a more urban place with a lot of artists you could have a conversion heavy game take off if it doesn't already exist
hunt down local communities first.
if you're literally the only person, then generally have a friend who wants to play it first, people are most interested that ways. they can come by, see you having fun and want to join in.
another method is setting up a group for it, via the messaging App of your choice, set up a demo gram with your LGS (or join a club)
my local sore has a lot of AWG players, we've got people playing Saga, bolt action, forbidden psalm, and a bunch of smaller things.
there's a lot of people, i've met many of the people who play epic in my city whilst playing other games.
i always suggest skirmish first, it's lower effort, lower commitment and allows people to engage in self expression first but it really depends on where you live.
>>
>>96497498
Personally finding people is not the hard part.
Wrangling the dopamine fucked twats is the hard part.
At least in my country we have encounter the constant issue that people simply won't show up to the events/games
