Mormons will only play games they control, so unless CotLDS buys a large stock in GW, it's going to be Battletech and 1490 Doom only

Thanks for sharing, anon-kun
Wick movies, all four of them, shaped how all the action flicks are made for the past decade.
The Hateful 8 is a movie that perfectly showcases you can have a session with nothing happening and yet everyone is going to have a great time anyway; it's also a decent movie on its own despit dragging
And stay contrarian about Dune, especially sicne you didn't watch the 80s version nor read the book anyway.
It's almost as if the quality of those movies had nothing to do with why they are on the list or something

Also:
Anon listed an entire string of movies from the past 20 years, and you are still crying while claiming utter nonsense. Have you considered not making being a whinny bitch your core personality trait?
From the top of my head, movies that are already on the 1d4 list, but aren't dated:
For 2022: Marlowe, Polite Society, Prey

Previous thread: >>97215703

GURPS is a modular, adaptable system, capable of running a wide range of characters, settings, and play styles, with a level of detail varying from lightweight to completely autistic.
Optional rules allow you to emulate different genres with a single system, or even switch genres within a single game.

A nearly complete archive of GURPS books can be found by using the image. Never post direct links to the archive anywhere in plain text.

If you're wondering where to start:
- The Basic Set covers everything, including a lot of optional rules you probably won't use.
- A genre guide can be found in the archive, under Unofficial/GURPSgen. It tells you what extra books and articles you may find useful for many common genres.
- How To Be a GURPS GM is a good read even for players.
- GCS (gurpscharactersheet.com) is an excellent character-builder software, with page references to all the books and the option to export to both Foundry and Fantasy Grounds.

Thread question: What are some systems or you would like to include or see included in a campaign, but haven't been able to? They don't have to be the main focus of the game, having them only as something on the side is okay.

First vehicle(s) for my blog. Pretty research-intensive (several days of searching and reading), but hopefully that will get easier as I learn where to look for information. Still not sure the armour is right, but I only had one source which bothered to break it down by actual facing rather than just saying '38-45 mm'. Had to estimate the weight of applique armour due to paucity of information. There are enough kits out there that one of them is probably close to my numbers. There are shit-tons of variants, which I will try and cover in future posts, but will probably do a BMP and Bradley first. Still got a few dinosaurs I want to write up too, which at least avoids the hell that is HTML tables. Need to go back over my old posts to change auto-generated HTML to an actually coherent version too, which is probably going to be many hours of work.

It's more that imperium rarely fights on virginal soil. Imperium rules a million worlds and probably has had presence in millions more, but that is still pretty sparse on galatctic slace. There are countless worlds that are either too hard to reach with Warp drives or just aren't generally interesting enough to fight over. Though you could still build a table around one. Ex-imperial human settlements. Eldar maiden Worlds. Dead worlds once inhabited by an alien civilization. Or hell, just a weird looking imperial World that doesn't have the luxury of usual imperial buildings. Barbarians living in huts build from the shells of giant cockroaches. Death jungle settlements. Ice world mining colony with underground dwellings. Penal colony that has built its shelters from scrapped space ships.
>>
>>97337264
Prior to when GW started selling terrain, terrain needed to be scratch built and so terrain was much more diverse and varied. Many stores had their own suite of unique terrain and some stores even had a variety of themed battlefield tables. Jungle terrain tables, winter terrain tables, cityscapes tables and generic open terrain tables all existed in the past.

As more "official" terrain has been released the more standardized terrain has gotten and the less unique tables have gotten. Part of the point of traveling in the wargaming hobby used to be about testing your army and skills at unfamiliar battlefields. much of that has been lost due to the dominance of "standardized" tournament play and waac armies.

By all means, go right ahead and build your dream jungle/desert/beaches/farmstead table. Personally I like urban settings because Codex Cityfight activated something in me in 2001.
>>
>>97337433
This is a very glamorized view of the past in some parts, and factually wrong in other parts.

>terrain was much more diverse and varied.
>stores had their own suite of unique terrain
Sometimes! But this is also the era that coined the phrase "Planet Bowling Ball." What happened far more often than people/stores making diverse, unique terrain was people/stores using far too little terrain. And also far too small pieces -- things that did not completely block line of sight -- because the effort, skill and materials cost for tall, broad pieces was much higher than for small things like hills, rocks, alien plants, ruins, etc. The 4th edition area terrain rules provided some relief, since you could use small scatter and say it was X high.

>As more "official" terrain has been released the more standardized terrain has gotten
There are pretty much zero tournaments that use all official terrain. The cost is too high and the sourcing is too difficult. As far as I'm aware the standard table layouts do not correspond to any GW terrain products. And if they do, the vast majority of comp players are still buying 3rd party terrain (mdf, 3d prints, acrylic, etc.)

On /tg/ there's just not that much to talk about anymore. Every conversation that's substantive in any way immediately devolves into political or political-adjacent bickering.
The board is full of autists who hate each other and all hide away in their corporation consumerist generals, and you're only allowed to talk about what's normal in the corporation consumerist generals. You know why you're allowed to mock tables? Because in the corporate consumer general for Warhammer, they think it'd be great if you spent more money and bought more shit, so mocking tables is one of the few safe topics that you can touch that won't have a wannabe Games Workshop community manager screaming at you.
That's basically all it comes down to.
Just the board being shit now and full of insufferable assholes.

Played gaslands today for the first time, pretty damn fun. Just a little death race with one other guy, 2 cars each. It's my first time playing one of these sort of minis games with templates and an actual rulebook, but there really didn't seem like too many rules, though I think there were some "advanced" ones we didn't play with, and some house rules to make wipeouts less punishing, etc.. Friend made some sick terrain and cars, but unfortunately I forgot to take pictures. I managed to take out one of each of our cars in a suicide smash, but I was rolling like dogshit so he won by getting to the finish line.

I wanted to like Hogwarts battle, played through a couple of years with my wife's cousins and their kids, but it just wasn't fun. iirc the enemies etc. got harder year-to-year but there was no, or not enough carry over from year-to-year to make me feel like the game was changing from year to year. I love Santorini, but I never get to play it, my wife hates it, so only ever when my dad's over.

Are there any mechanical differences between Hive and Hive Pocket?
>>
>>97337425
Don't use the A-word, anon's gonna give you a talk about how any form of randomness disqualifies a game from being called abstract. Not that I strictly disagree, but I find boardgame terms in general lacking in an agreed upon definition. Most of them are great as heuristics, but if you go deeper you quickly find vagueness and make up your own definition, conciously or subconciously. Euro vs Ameritrash is a useful metric to use when roughly describing a game, but the question of what exactly these terms encompass leads nowhere.
Inb4 someone says that definitions are clear and we start fighting over them

Is it better to have fully anthropomorphic beast people in your settings or just humans with like animal ears and tails?

>>97337098
Kind of, if you had money for elephants you'd get elephants. But I don't want my setting to revolve about Thrumbos, I want variance, I want them to show up as exotic, rare mercenaries outside of their natural habitation range, and be a fairly sight within that range.
And this isn't even specifically a Thrumbo-people issue. Obviously some people will always pick humans, some will always pick elves, which I intently design to be an everpresent metaphorical cockroach race, but there'll always be a subset of people who do care about doing well in the hitting-people department, and when one race is objectively heads and shoulders superior in that because they're elephant people, or whale people, or giants, or Discworld trolls, they'd feel like they're missing out on free stats by not making a whale-man. And I don't want to lock in that kind of people to playing whales.
There's also that if you can hire a hundred giants as a mercenary company and crumple notably numerically bigger human armies, because you have giants you can afford armor and arms for, already annoying logistics of fantasy war become even more annoying.
>>97337241
>Why must an anthropomorphic elephant be as big as an elephant?
Why mustn't it be? It's an elephant-person, not an orc with gray skin. It could a bit smaller than an elephant, but still. The whole point of the variance and diversity of options I want is that you can, if you'd like, make a three-foot-tall kobold, or five-foot-tall dwarf, a six-foot-tall human, or seven-foot-tall undersea elf, or an eight-foot-tall gnoll, or a 'nine-foot-tall', give or take, naga, or ten-foot-tall minotaur, or eleven-foot-tall elephant. The farther they are from their home turf, the harder it should be to justify them being there at all, barring everpresent elves and goblins, and they still should have mechanical advantages and disadvanteges to their unique nature - since otherwise you're creating worthless diversity and variance of zero depth.
>>
>>97337295
I dont hate anime, I hate kemonomimi. Fighters should be pulling off anime bullshit at high levels, and stealing stuff from good anime is a time honored tradition for DMs. But absolutely fuck kemonomimi and the weird childish losers who love it. Only the deeply autistic or literal manchildren like it.

>>97337338
>It's an elephant-person, not an orc with gray skin.
Why do you picture an orc when they are self evidently going to have an elephants head that looks nothing like an orc? Seriously, take a look at a loxodon or loxo from D&D, they are absolutely not a fucking orc despite topping out at 8ft tall.
>eleven-foot-tall elephant.
Oh no! Three whole feet taller than D&Ds version, which bumps them to large size and changes little else.
>should have mechanical advantages and disadvanteges to their unique nature
Of course, why do you think anybody is arguing otherwise?
Are you being retarded and thinking that a species must be both physically and mechanically unique to have a place in a setting? It is perfectly fine to have overlap in mechanics and physical nature. Two, or more, races/species/ancestries that are in the 7 to 8 ft range is absolutely fine. Same with smaller ones. Hell, most playable races are of average 6 ft height and nobody complains.

>And I don't want to lock in that kind of people to playing whales
PF2e solved this by making a significant aspect of your stats be from other sources than your race. Yes, if you want a minmaxed warrior your going to take a strength based race, this is the nature of having mechanics; but having multiple ones with varying other stats such as str/int, str/wis, or just a simple str race with no other bonuses or penalties helps spread this "problem" so that players arent locked into one obvious race of power hitters.
