Haven’t seen anyone play Oban really in my area or shown interest in them, which is a shame cause they really are one of the few sectorials that can do suicide melee rushes with a core and somehow make it work. It struck you but didn't actually bring significant harm to your body. Maybe it just struck your armor hard enough to rattle you, maybe it just bruised or singed the skin, maybe it caused you to exert yourself to roll with the strike in such a way that left you more tuckered out than you were before the blow. HP is, per the rules, an abstraction that covers all of these things to facilitate the game going forward. If you want to get into the minutia, then D&D is not the game for it. There are literally dozens of games that get more granular about injuries, stamina, luck, and so on. D&D, and by extension many games with similar HP systems, is just trying to cover the mechanical base of "attack could not be avoided, but didn't necessarily cause you harm enough to hinder you" that is a necessity for more heroic fantasy games.

The game doesn't even say this. Many games that use this system, and even D&D in some niche mechanical cases, treat half HP as being injured in some way. Injured/bloodied status is a common enough mechanic that if you've played or even just read any more than a couple of games you'd have come across it. "Meat points" are not a thing in the vast majority of games and D&D itself explicitly says they are not meat points. Regardless of your tantrum, HP simply is representative of multiple factors for the sake of simplicity. It's more elegant for the desired mechanical complexity to not have to track stamina and injuries separately.

Guyver doesn't really have much in terms of drawbacks for someone who's had a Guyver suit bonded to them. As long as their Control Metal is intact they're basically immortal and have far better weapons than Activated humans in Zoanoid/Hyper Zoanoid form.

Even for Activated humans their only real weakness is that they're subject to mind control from Zoalords.

The stuff with the Guyver Suits was also why the aliens simply abandoned their uplift project on Earth, because aside from making humans way more dangerous than intended, their "standard issue" spaceflight equipment also removed the mind control.

It's a very C-tier movie, but Universal Soldier is pretty straight-up a Deviant setup, with the Powers of being stronger and regenerating balanced with "gotta go in a freezer once in a while" Scar.

He has the same weapon skill as a Praetor, he's going to be hitting almost everything on 3+ and has a solid chance in a challenge of hitting on 2+ regardless of the target because of how Divination works. There are actually parts of the game other than Primarch fights, as it turns out, and although I do wish he had a couple more swings given the price he's still going to crumple almost any unit he touches over a round or two of combat.

There is a light amount of tracking for rarer metals. The 8 basics are assumed to be always available and you only need to use an action to replenish investiture. The others you need specific vials for. If you lack access to a metal you can't use it. From a practical standpoint this means that rarer powers have a cost to using them. A mistborn can get a talent to deplete a metal reserve to use it once for a more powerful effect. You could do a powerful steelpush but be unable to steelpush again until you down a vial despite having investiture available to use on the other metals.

Returning to my LA desert homebrew, wanted to share the gist of my idea before I took a break from the boards.

Overrun with orcs, bandits, and lizardmen clashing with one another for dominance over the region. Towns and villages would be scarce, depraved dens of criminals and thieves where higher fame may paint a target on your back for bounty hunters or vengeful warlords. Would essentially be a hard mode variant of the Inner Kingdom, and an excuse to make a bunch of tables and events using enemies from other homebrews (harpies from ACHE, kobolds from Lewdyria, etc.)

Ended up leaning away from the arabian nights aesthetic due to a lack of focus. I remember there were a lot of complaints that the combat was too easy or something so I wanted to use this to try and make encounters that were hard and punishing (but not Frost Marshes bullshit). The reward would be homebrew spells and treasures that play off of fetishes that aren't in the game.

Problem is, I don't have a lot of material that could properly fill such a region without simply copying other documents. Any and all ideas would be appreciated, however big, small, or contrary.

Exactly. Just like how Rogues are stuck being specialized in daggers or other weapons that they can backstab or sneak attack with.
Some classes cover broader concepts than others.

the more i look into classes, it seems FIGHTER is the one that should be retired or replaced since barbarian, ranger, paladin, and even rogue can cover the things you'd want out of your fighter anyways

It goes back to how Ranger struggles to carve out a niche because Fighter exists.
If Ranger is just a better Fighter with more skills/magic, then there's less reason to play a Fighter. So instead Ranger ends up getting stuck with less combat options to compensate.

barbarians works as the brutish warrior
paladin works as the heavy plated knight
ranger works as the medium plated dexterous warrior
even rogue's swashbuckler acts as the wise cracking duelist

fighter is really just "everyone else". and most people probably go into fighter thinking they want to make a heavy plated dude but don't want them to be religious which paladin doesn't need to be
