Most of the times in kid’s adventure anime the mom is a complete background character so I really like how the relationship between her and Ash was given some importance (especially considering how Red’s mom is the least relevant player mom). I like how in the entire second movie his mom keeps worrying about him and then the third movie is all about how much she means to him. The series wasn’t as good at this after the OS but I thought it was funny how she came all the way to Alola just to watch a school play he was in but not most of the league tournaments or the masters 8.

The graphics are the same. Although Kalos is less "blocky" than ORAS Hoenn with its Minecraft terrain. Some features were cut/pasted from XY and still worked well. Except for character customization, the berry field, and the roller skates. Battle Mansion however lazily replaces the Hoenn Frontier.
