What is the most valuable game you own?
>>12585941I'm too Lazy to post the most valuable games in my collection, I do have an old photo of my Dreamcast games(which I will post here). The list of the most valuable games I have in my possession are...1) Splatterhouse (Windows PC)2) Batman Forever The Arcade Game (PS1)3) Power Stone 2 (Dreamcast)4) Sonic Adventure 2 (Dreamcast)5) Silent Hill 1 (PS1)6) Metal Gear Solid The Twin SnakesI know there's more, but these ones come to mind.
>>12585941I dunno what's actually more valuble right now but either my complete PSX Lunars or my complete Persona 2: Eternal Punishment. But I'm not planning on selling them so it's sort of moot
Earthbound on SNES, courtesy of the last bout of crazy overtime I got to work
Either this or the grey variant Turok Rage Wars cartridge.
I have Doshin the Giant 2 for 64DD. Price is incredibly inconsistent on it, I've seen it regularly fluctuate between $500(which is how much I got it for) and $2000. It's pretty rare to come across and one that not many people are even interested in so I guess it's just undervalued at times, it's also Japanese only and not actually much of a game so that probably doesn't help it. Not that I care what it's worth, I have a strange fondness for the 64DD so I'm just happy to have it. I'm probably one of 10 people on the planet that have actually finished it.

>>12592392I don't see how this is an issue since you'd spend little time on the menu before launching a game
>>12592401When looking at battery usage stats, Cocoon is always equal to my screen-on time. Which means it's constantly running in the background while I'm playing games.
>>12592404I see. I guess I didn't notice any fast draining on my Thor with it but I also haven't been playing the more demanding stuff
You never need 6 buttons. 4 is enough.

>>12592096Alien Armageddon was so good, but after it added rpg elements and started to feel too much like a modern shooter was a mistake. Replacing original monster sprites with inferior ones was stupid also.2.0 is the best version for me personally. No rpg shit, no high resolution sprites that clash with original styles. Just one high quality episode with fun new weapons, second playable character and new monsters that are not just palette swaps and fit into Duke 3d perfectly. Also the remixed version of DC campaign with those new enemies.
>>12591447Went ahead and finished it, both the enemies mod and the supplementary mappackThe enemy sprites are surprisingly well done (even if there aren't many of them), I expected much worse, quite surprised I haven't seen them anywhere else. Map and encounter design is total shit, even for 00s, ugly rectangular rooms and sewers spamming the exact same weak enemies over and over again, reminds me of TNT and that's not a good thing to be reminded of. Gets a bit better at the very end but not by much (also features some "artwork" by Giger, the appeal of which I will never understand)Weapons are alright but too strong for the enemies you face. The plasma replacement is awesome, it's just vanilla chaingun but shooting vanilla shotgun shots, makes firefights significantly less tedious. The chaingun itself doesn't suck either. No idea why did the rocket launcher get castrated like that though but it's not like you'd ever actually need to use it so whateverOverall it's very easy, too easy even. You'll be drowning in ammo and medkits and HP goes up to 600, weapons are all overpowered while the enemies are even weaker than in vanilla because for some reason they all constantly infight here, even same species. I haven't ever seen my hp dip to two digit numbers, let alone dietldr enemy sprites good, maps bad
>>12592409I thought I would similarly hate the RPG elements and was nearly turned off from them when I started the WG megapack. I enjoyed them way, way more than I thought I would - at least for the version of AA bundled with the megapack: When I’d reach a point where I thought my character was getting “too OP,” the encounters I’d run into would even things out - the WG episodes I went through felt shockingly well balanced.Regarding the new enemy sprites, I’d like them less if they didn’t feel so well done, another thing surprising me about the mod. I first ran into them when I tried AMC Squad.
>>12592412It has long been my observation that mods especially 90s mods with new sprites or unique textures or whatever always have shit maps, because all the effort went into making the graphics and the maps are an afterthought.
>>12591495>>12591679I often watch this Dosgamert guy and half of Win98SE and before games don't even launch without some kind of patch from patches scrolls. Some even takes down the whole OS with a bluescreen.
>>12589608Nice LARP, you fucking loser. Windows 2000's game compatibility is the same as XP's until you get into the real late-era XP stuff that came out long after Windows 7 (and 8 in some cases). If you're trying to run old games designed for Win 9x on any NT-based Windows and are surprised by compatibility issues, you're a fucking retard.>>12590673>it wasn't a great OS for videogames until around 2004-2005You're a retarded faggot too. Windows 2000 supported DirectX 9, just like XP. Any game designed for XP from its launch onwards ran on 2000 as well. They were practically the same OS under the hood. Game developers didn't START supporting Windows 2000 in the middle of the fucking decade when it was already 5 years old. That makes no fucking sense, you cretin. If anything it was the opposite as 2000 gradually started having issues with newer games towards the back end of the decade because they were built with XP SP2/3 in mind (and didn't work on older versions of XP either).
>>12592385MS put more work into making XP backwards compatible with win9x software than they did 2000 due to it targeting home users.
>>12589231It was as well suited for gaming as XP was. My hard drive was so tiny back then I had to save space.
>>12589919>And for that matter, should I do the same for games that require the CD and have no crack available?Which ones? Torrminatorr has some ancient scene releases which come precracked, tried looking into their scene collections?
Post games that were not playtested.

Original release of FF1 is a clear example. A large chunk of spells just do NOT work period. It's so bad, that patches that restore the proper functioning of the spells actually make the game easier, and Square themselves increased the HP of bosses in the PS1 remake to compensate for fixing the spells.Might and Magic 2 is hilariously broken in many ways, but the most obvious example is the Endurance stat. It governs how much HP you gain with each level up. All stats are supposed to range from 0-255. Endurance does not. Once you go over about 160 endurance, it loops back around, causing your HP gains to drop back down to 1-2HP per level. This was never patched or fixed and is also present in console ports of the game.Dragon Warrior 3 allows you to cause a memory corruption that will give the Hero a bunch of spells early, but it breaks him so he won't learn late-game spells at the usual levels for some reason. All you have to do is fill up the tavern with as many created characters as allowed. That's it.The people who play-tested Sonic the Hedgehog clearly weren't very good at the game. If you are good and can keep running and going fast, eventually you go too fast for the game to keep up with. And if you go fast enough to go off camera, you die instantly. Sonic dies from going TOO FAST. Apparently some people even experienced this after going through two loops in a row in some rare instances.
>yeah bro just practice this combo in the lab for 1000 hours until you get the timing just right lol Is there any worse artificial difficulty than this? it's impressive that pros get to have this on lockdown like robots grinding 12 hours a day, but honestly it's such a NEET game. I got good at sf4 but I had to be a neet to do itThe entire game feels like you are struggling to even have control of the character. Mastering the inputs is half the battle
You know, you just need to know BNB, and setup heavy combos aren't really a thing in competitive play.
>>12590187Fighting games are awesome in an autistic way. Yes all the practice is a waste of time, but it's what gives the games that martial arts feel. I'm not a competitive player but I enjoy watching tournaments.
>>12591248Jump in BnB combos still take a while to learn for most characters. Pulling them off in live matches is even harder. Then you have mysterious terms like plinking etc. what the fuck even is that. And I played usf4 against players that entered tourneys and played against top players. I could do sagats 1 frame links. but even his BnB punished e.g normals into tiger knee seemed like a nightmare to not only practice, but pull off in matches. Then I tried the alpha games recently and realised it's the same shit but worse. My hands hurt. I haven't got all day for this shit anymore. Sorry
Street Fighter EX series is based and doesn’t suffer from this issue, so try that one, stop playing unfun Alphaslop. You can thank me later.

There's no such thread in the catalog and I'm in need of help. Post your childhood half-remembered games that you have forgotten the title of, see if anybody else has the answer. I'll post mine shortly.
>>12588919It's possible but I swear it was humanoid characters. Not fully confident it was a dog. It was a character with a small hitbox like soulcalibur 4 yoda
>>12586109No it was the school 386, the teachers would let us and even encourage us to play games near the end of class>>12586148Probably is it, footage looks like I remember it, still it looks like an interesting game to try anyway, maybe it was a demo since it would have been copied by floppy disc
PS1 game. Early. This might have been homebrew or something because ive never seen it anywhere. Fairly sure i didnt dream itThe screen was a bunch of pegs. Your character, a humanoid, would swing on the pegs with his arms. It was a 2d/sideways view. I dont remembet any camera transitions
>>12589205I found it, "Pig Out: Dine Like A Swine"https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wmOir4G66eM3 player arcade game. the "excessive" collectibles flying around are from the items you pick up, which will all come flying out if you get hit. it's a lot shittier than I remembered though.
>>12575845Do you remember what system you played it on?Probably not the right answer but, if you had an Amiga, it might have been Alien Fish Finger: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q5Ll0AABvhYYou did say it was a primitive indie though; that makes me think it could be one of those games made with Klik & Play or other Clickteam stuff. There's a site called The Daily Click (actual URL is create-games.com) that hosts a bunch of these but searching the archives requires an account.>>12578408Hell Copter?https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b1vQRu4VZA4>>12584947I dunno if they sold to Argentina, but that sounds like the stuff Digerati would distribute. >>12584647I’ve always wanted to try the Everblue games since I’m a big fan of the Wii Endless Oceans. Anyone here emulated it and does it require much Japanese knowledge? I just got a Retroid Pocket 5 and I want to try out some PS2 stuff.
I really wish Surreal got a change to make a third Drakan or at least port this one to PC. Either way it is still a great game and everyone should play it
Does anyone else have an extensive collection? I have a very long and girthy shelf to store my games on.

so why did they call it the Super Nintendo Entertainment System instead of the Nintendo Super Entertainment System?
>>12586717In that case why can't I play my NES games on the SNES then?
>>12586726supposedly some Nintendo engineer's wife came up with the idea to call it the Family Computer

>>12590907i'm not even joking really, if they didn't want people calling the nes the nintendo, then they should have given it another name. did they expect people to call it "entertainment system"? is the super nintendo actually just the "super" system by nintendo? is nintendo 64 actually just "64"? like instead of "sony playstation" you have "nintendo 64", so is the console called just "64"? is it nintendo nintendo 64? they're not in a position to call this out

The most important racing game ever made.
>>12577129Kart racing is just a sub-genre of racing. And it's not like you can say Mario Kart SNES/64 influenced Gran Turismo. Racing is just one of those simulation genres where it's been around forever and doesn't really improve that much other than graphics. It's like saying Megaman Soccer is an important sports gameRacing simulation and Sports simulation and Flight Simulation are all influenced by real life and not much by other video games
