In the market for a 12GA shotty, many recommend either Benelli M4, Beretta 1301 for top contenders or if I wanna pay for some bang for the buck the A300.

Are there other great options?

i have an a300. i have a couple hundred rounds through. i do not like all the plastic on it but nothing has broken yet. that being said, i have ordered metal replacement parts for the barrel clamp and a few other things. it isn't an m4 and light birdshot isn't happening but this isn't a gun with a 2-3 round tube. buck and slugs run fine, clean every 100/150 rounds. light/medium duty gun. if you want to abuse something, 590a1.

I've been really happy with my SL-5 3-gun (badge-engineered Breda b12i/Benelli m2) but the days of finding them for 5-600 are probably over

And despite their assurances of a restock of their conventional stocks and the coming of a short LoP stock I've been lurking their storefront for 18 months with no luck so I might have to become an urbino creep

Brave Sir Robin ran away.
Bravely ran away away.
When danger reared it's ugly head,
He bravely turned his tail and fled.
Yes, brave Sir Robin turned about
And gallantly he chickened out.

Bravely taking to his feet,
He beat a very brave retreat.
Bravest of the braaaave, Sir Robin!

>>
>>65272099
Checked, but we are on a thread that doesn't think signing up for service under current geopolitical conditions is big retard. You see, American military personnel used to be seen as heroes. Now you won't even get the same treatment. People see you as wasted tax dollars that could be spent on health care, being used to ignite foreign wars. You're not getting as many people if at all to buy you a coffee while you're in uniform. I doubt people still do that.

No you can't, there isn't enough room to get enough of your hand through and then reach the bolt release with your fingers. It's impossible.

I have the detachable carry handle, when I reach my hand all the way through I can just only touch the edge of bolt release. I could probably press it just shooting off the bench, but I would be concerned about relying on that when under time pressure since it would require such a fine movement.

Yeah he made all the difference when working dusk-dawn out on the prairie. Being a lone human pinpoint in all that open space was kind of weird sometimes. For absolutely no reason at all one can become convinced they are being watched. Maybe through a scope ?
Even though I knew damn good and well I was 20 miles from even a county road . . .

I'm an early-twenty something who wants to buy a gun because I'm an American and it's my right (also because shooting ranges look fun as hell). Once I start working again either this summer or in the fall I'll have a decent amount of disposable income but not enough to buy gold plated AKs.

I like revolvers. They're simple and they look satisfying to handle/fire. Any recommendations for cheap ones that aren't Chinese-produced slop? I live in a blue state and I think we've got red flag laws here for what it's worth but it's still America at the end of the day so I figure I can obtain a gun much easier than most other people living in the developed world.

I would definitely go to a gun range and see if any got a good amount of rental guns available. Finger fuck the shit out of the pistols, fire off some rounds with the rentals. Everybody hand feel is different for what works better for them shooting wise.

The hardest choice in choosing a firearm is knowing what feels comfortable in your hands. Not all guns are one size fit all and don't even think the recoil from is gonna feel the same for every gun.

I tried a Glock, M1911 & a S&W M&P.

Loved the feeling of the single stack of the 1911, hated the grip of the Glock and the M&P felt like shit to shoot to me anyways.

Got a Canik TP9 as a compromise cause it felt the best for me and also it was on sale

The same goes for rifles & shotguns.

Just rent some out and finger fuck on their mechanism & handling

I guess another question I have is this: how do people react to you if/when you tell them that you do own guns? Tons of my friends are libshits so desu I wouldn't doubt they may start to see me differently, but I could just be going on about nothing.

>how do people react to you if/when you tell them that you do own guns?
I love in Boise. Everyone open carries out here. Police shoot niggers first and ask questions never. Calicuck transplants are trying to change things though

The G11's problem was not heat, but the complicated mechanism and gas building up in the sealed stock.
The solution is make it open-bolt. For good measure make it a constant recoil LMG using plastic links.

>steel links for 7.62 = 2 grams each

Why did you use GPMG ammo for the comparison if you then claim that no one will ever carry it either way. You disingenuous fuck.
>>
>>65271956
PKMs and Mk48s are both used as SAWs. Stop posting performative seethe and watch some infantry video from Ukraine. Beltfeds are still essential in the green and urban zones, but ain't nobody lugging around tripods and entire crews of 2-3 men to shoot one. They've retvrned to M60.
>>

You don't know what a GPMG is. Got it. Filtered.
>>
>>65271895
>right
It's a flawed concept to begin with. All it does is save weight, which matters very little to anyone that isn't a machine gunner. You give up a TON for that weight savings. Without a cartridge, extraction an unfired round is difficult. The ammo is extremely fragile. Comparable ammo to 556 is much larger than 556. What's even the fucking point when weight savings just means they're going to use it as an excuse to pack more gear on the soldier?

Why does it get so much shit? The rotation mechanism isn't much more tedious than pump-action and you actually do that *after* spending all your ammo, instead of midway through shooting.

Its just a retroactive thing for nerd hipsters. It wasn't that popular in its time because the stock is nasty and all the coolest versions were NFA items, but it gets shat on nowadays because its not as practical as a modern saiga or turkshit AR shotgun; which is obviously a bullshit attitude but niggers always forget that all its mag-fed contemporaries were unreliable dogshit or non-existent prototypes like the CAWS (which to be clear may also have been shit, nobody outside Natick really knows). There's a reason people kept buying the Auto-5 until 1998. If you got timewarped back to the 80s, and for some arbitrary reason you had to use a shotgun to defend yourself, a Striker would not be at all a bad choice.

It turns out the overall shape of the XM8 Rifle was designed by Audi. So how would a gun designed by Ferrari or Lamborghini look like?
7 replies and 2 images omitted. Click here to view.
>>
>>65270336
The one really nice thing that the XM8 had that I wish the army would have adopted was the mounting system for optics and accessories.

It was specifically made so that you could zero an optic or attachment, take it off and swap it for another then put the original back on and it would maintain zero. So if you had a magnified optic for daylight you could swap it for a red dot, or a Night vision capable optic. or mount your PEQ-15, zero it and then so long as you reattached it on the same hole it would still be zeroed.
>>
>>65271790
doesnt picatinny do that if you use the same slot (the reason why they're numbered)
>>
File: xm8.jpg (160 KB, 1000x750)
160 KB JPG
>>65271955
There's still some play in picatinny even if you mount the optic, and especially any rail attachments that is just enough to throw off your zero. You don't notice it inside 100m most of the time but beyond that you'll start missing shots.

I had a new private that took 3 trips to the range to qualify, turned out he was taking off his m68 (the aimpoint red dot) to clean his rifle between trips to the range. He's hit the close targets but kept missing 200m 250's and never hit a 300m. once I saw what he was doing we re'zeroed the rifle and the kid shot a 35/40. The XM8 system had it's mounting points built into the handguard and upper receiver and the fitment was much more precise.
