How did he and his friends manage to beat the US military with some shitty norincos and sks?

1. It was a Nationalist war and not a Communist uprising. Ho Chi Minh actually appealed to the US to kick out the French. Nationalism tend to unite disparate peoples.
2. The South Vietnamese government was Catholic in a Buddhist country and corrupt/brutal as hell. That made the North's job easier to recruit Partisans.
3. The US didn't understand points 1 & 2. No amount of kills can sustain a hated, incompetent South Vietnamese government.

They didn't beat them, the US just had no way to win the conflict without some form of escalation.
Invading the North was right out, because the Commies didn't like that.
Invading everything west of South Vietnam to create an actual demarcation line across the peninsula was unpopular in Washington because they fervently believed that they could have Specops operators could operationally do it on the cheap.
Genociding the South to cull Vietnamese nationalism and put a permanent end to re-unification wasn't in the cards post-WW2, even though at least one of the Protestant dictators they chose would've been down with killing all Buddhists at least.

>wait until US leaves
>claim victory
We should have supported Ho Chi Minh from the beginning but the CIA and state department (and France) have been on a legendarily bad run since 1950
>>
Home field advantage.

The funniest thing is burgers invaded to “prevent Chinese expansion into South East Asia” when Ho Chi Minh and the Vietnamese hated the chinks with the power of a thousand suns.

As soon as the burgers fucked off the first thing they did was blitzkrieg the chink puppets in Cambodia and then fight off a Chinese invasion from the north.

All burgers had to do to complete their objective was to send Ho Chi Minh and the Vietnamese some burgers, fries and soda.

Why aren't drones UCAVs shaped like fighter jets?: https://youtube.com/shorts/RNF3SxTXsek?

>>
>>64658426
modern jet design is bad for gliding and subsonic flight.
But also drones are a good way for defense manufacturers to milk government contracts which is why drones are either worse or way more expensive than they could be. And most of the time both.
>>
>>64658591
Ukraine is doing drones right, minimal cost and maximal capability because anything else could lead to the death of their nation.
As soon as western contractors are involved the goal changes from "be cheap and good" to "maximize shareholder value".
>>
>>64658604
>the goal changes from "be cheap and good" to "maximize shareholder value".

no, the goal changes to 'maximize safety and reliability' because a single soldier dying to a malfunctioning drone is a catastrophe
>>
>>64658613
If the goal was to minimize casualties you would make the drones so cheap no infantry ever has to push an area that hasn't been completely cleared by drones.

Could plastic garbage from the ocean be used for 3D printers for printing guns like FGC-9?

kek
>>
>>64624726
Yes it would work, but the quality would be poor because you have a mix of PET, PETG, PP, HDPE, PU and others. The specific plastics all have different ideal working temperatures. You would need to adjust your print settings for the current mix of polymers. Contaminants will also degrade print quality.

Sorting and cleaning the plastics will be mandatory to having any success. I'm sure there are methods to stratify amd sort bulk microplastics, but good luck, you're probably better off burning difficult plastics as a heat source (after drying in the sun)
>>
> 3D printers for printing guns
bruh it's nearly 2026
people printing death drones, guided missiles, unguided mortars, and anti personnel mines, not antiques.
lel
>>
Lets take all that plastic, melt it down into compressed cubes, shoot it into the sun or a black hole. Once the plastic is out of sight, we need not pay it any mind.
>>
>>64624726
Most plastic degrades under UV light, with some exceptions like ASA.

Also, some plastic like PLA is chemically rather fragile.

Essentially, all plastic organic polymers are either vulnerable to UV light, high temperatures or chemically not very inert. There are some exception which are great at specific areas like PTFE (Teflon)/ PFA for unmatched chemical resistance but they are vulnerable to UV light.

Then there is of course PEEK, a high performance polymer which does kind of have all the great properties you would love, but it's also supremely expensive.

I was watching Ian's video on this captive pistol pistol and he said the round leaks gas out the front which gives it the volume of maybe a silenced 22 pistol or something. But there's got to be a way to improve these rounds so they're completely silent right? It would have limited application but still it'd be pretty cool

> It would have limited application but still it'd be pretty cool
I had the thought that there’s a small but profitable niche in the concealed carry market for a gun like this. Hear me out
>up pressure slightly so it’s comparable to .380 at least
>offer caliber swap barrels/slides so you can shoot 9mm/.380/.32 or whatever would fit
>practice with conversion barrel for cheap
>only shoot expensive unobtanium rounds occasionally
>market as a hearing safe CCW pistol

Maybe I'm in a smaller minority than I realize, but I think a lot of “serious gun guys” would like a hearing safe CCW pistol. My hearing isn’t my top priority but if I can ventilate Jamal AND not lose any hearing that would be ideal. It’s the same reason I, and thousands and thousands of others, use a suppressor on our home defense guns.

In short, get on it Kel-Tec.
>>
>>64655760
I doubt it's gonna happen unless the NFA is repealed. as far as I know each round counts as its own suppressor and has to be registered as such. yes it's much closer and far more economical once the $200 thing is gone, but still, registering each sounds like a massive hassle.
>>
>>64656373
Fair point. More just daydreaming now, but I wonder if you could register 100 rounds at once? It would be kind of hilarious to register 100 “suppressors” then tell them 50 were destroyed in one day.

The Dutch signed a deal to buy Skyranger 30 systems, for 1bn - about 300 million under the planned budget. It has not been made known how many systems are being bought, but in an earlier stage 22 mobile systems were mentioned initially - however an unannounced number of static systems and training simulators are also part of the signed deal possibly bringing it up to 75 systems. The mobile system is to be mounted on the ACSV tracked platform as pictured here. FIM-92 Stinger quad-launchers have been selected for integration. It will use an X-band AESA radar.
Rheinmetall Switzerland will produce 3 prototypes, and Rheinmetall Netherlands will partially produce and assemble the systems. Deliveries should complete by 2029.

It looks like there is some converging onto this particular system in Europe. Future operators include Germany, Austria and Denmark. Potential future operators include Belgium, Czech Rep., Hungary, Italy and Lithuania. If they all sign up there could be around 800+ of these systems in Europe by the 2030s

It's also under consideration for the US armed forces but that seems a long shot.

Okay hold on, I might have mixed things up. There's a "Valley of Death" in Kamchatka, but that's a natural phenomenon. It's a small gorge with a number of volcanic vents, gas buildup hangs low to the ground and things that go in asphyxiate, happens sometimes in Yellowstone too.

But there's ANOTHER one in Yakutia, also known in the local language as Uliuiu Cherkechekh, that's alleged to have these weird metallic "cauldrons" or domed structures sticking out of the ground. The whole area is rife with supposed anomalous phenomena, but is so far out in the ass-end of nowhere I've only heard of one expedition to the area...and it was cut short when one of the members became mysteriously ill, which is what the legends say happens to anyone going there. Since /x/ was mentioned, a historian i charge of a small gulag museum and her son went to the Butugychag cemetery and they claim that there are "glowing balls" appearing on other photos directly above the graves of the inmates, stating she does not know what they are because there shouldn't be any reflections but people like to believe it's the liberated sous of the dead
They also tried to bury at least some of the skulls during trips in the 90' so it looks probably somewhat better now

Who: 131st Separate Motor Rifle Brigade vs Chechen fighters
Where: Grozny, Chechnya
When: 31 December 1994
A 1000 strong brigade was ordered to go into the city without recon or support. Immediately surrounded, but didn't run back. While the rest of the country celebrated the New Year, 980 soldiers died thanks to the stupidity of their command. There are radio recordings between the commander of the brigade and Chechen commander. Heart-wrenching to listen to it, but I guess it's now superseded by stuff coming out of Ukraine both in terms of horror and scale
