Batman Returns for Master System or Game Gear are both superb and have a great atmosphere.

the one level in THPS1 that was downhill was pretty fun though
can't remember very well but didn't shaun palmer's have some chairlifts and shit that would bring you back up the slope?
need to give it a try again, i remember liking it more than matt hoffman's bmx and definitely more than the surfing and wakeboarding games they released

you're entitled to your own sense of fun, most people did not agree with that notion.

Gamecube is allowed and I recently got into this series. What did you think of Pikmin when it originally came out, and are you a big fan of both gameplay styles? the time limit, and the dungeons both.

I wrote them off as boring kiddie games, much like Kirby. I recently got into Kirby as well, but not retro.

>What did you think of Pikmin when it originally came out
I thought it was extremely gay and childish. The weird humour (?) and the constant exclamations/squeals are horrible.
>are you a big fan of both gameplay styles?
No.
>>
>>12262438
There is no waggle on the Wii versions of Pikmin 1, 2 or Metroid Prime Trilogy (well, at least in 1 and 2, there is waggle in 3). IR pointing controls are not waggle. Imagine thinking that aiming with a slight flick of the wrist and shooting is worse than using two sticks to move coordinates. It is impossible to play with as much precision as on the Wii with any other control type.

I loved this series. It's too bad they discontinued it. NO: Commander isn't as good as the other two games in the series since it's top-down only but it's alright.
>>
>>12263360
from running the Japanese wikipedia article on it through MTL, it seems the franchise has two distinct series, the Warship Commander games and Warship Gunner games. WSC are focused on commanding an entire flotilla, whereas the WSG titles are about controlling individual ships. Besides the three titles released in the west, there's a further half-dozen that never left Japan (mostly PC titles).

You can maybe get 300 bucks for it, but you're responsible for shipping it, and you're liable if it doesn't arrive in good condition, and the guy on the other end can just decide it's not what he paid for and send it back (possibly damaged again en route) because PayPal are 100% for the buyer and nobody else.

Something like this happened to me, new item sold, returned used, had to return the money and hold onto a worse item I couldn't resell.

buying CRTs on ebay is full retard, both price wise and the fact it will not arrive in 1 piece. every single day on fb or reddit i see some retard buying a CRT online and it showing up smashed to fuck.

if you want one just be happy with whatever one you can grab for less than 50 bucks from some old lady cleaning out her garage. dont be some retard that thinks he needs a PVM or a certain model

Have any anons experienced the 90s-2000s import scene?

From what i know there were forums dedicated to the topic, it was mentioned a couple times in webcomics, and a few times in print media (gamefan, picrel.)

It looked pretty comfy, if you guys have any stories, please share.

It was really stupid for them to overreact to video games in particular after so many R-rated films in years prior had toy lines associated with them. Alien, Robocop, Terminator, Rambo, and many others in the 10 years prior to Mortal Kombat all sold a lot of merchandise to children and there wasn't a push against them for it. Mortal Kombat as a video game is really tame compared to any of those movies.
It was just a case of NEW THING BAD by a bunch of politicians that wanted a cause to increase their brand image with.
Joe Lieberman wanted to feel relevant, and Hillary Clinton had just embarrassed herself in failing to garner support for healthcare reform.

It was a building fire, mk just became a scapegoat for all violent media. You had two fronts, violence and occultism. Heavy metal, movies dungeons and dragons, my little pony and troll dolls smurfs etc all were catching shit but MK really became a scapegoat for violence. I don't agree with it but I also don't believe the "satanic panic" was be, if you know the occult you know there was indeed a big cover up, media just had the least to do with it but of course clueless parents saw it as a main problem. The problem was powerful rich adults into weird shit behind closed doors, not Ed Boon etc

I do have a Wii, but no time machine so there's no way for me to put it on there outside of ROM injection which usually messes things up, or have things improved?

I dun broke it oudda game jail many eons back, but how do I fixin' ta play it from the VC, pardner?

mario, zelda, metroid, kirby, punch out, contra, castlevania, mega man, dragon quest were all more fun on NES than SNES. not to mention ninja gaiden which didnt even get anything besides a shitty demake. was there anything that actually got better with 16 bit besides FF and mother?

oh yeah, nintendo definitely intended the square power blocks that are square in every other game in the series and in all official merchandise to actually be rectangles in SMB. and link was originally a fat mexican dwarf, not a twink elf. everyone knows that.

Anon, there was literally an entire series on the Nintendo DS that revived this exact concept because the touch screen was right there and 100% perfect for doing this exact task.
And now, with no dual screen handheld on the market, it's gone once again. Maybe if we're lucky it'll surface once more at some point.
>>
>>12263978
Sadly Etrian Odyssey fucked up by putting a dot on the map screen to show where you are so you can't actually get lost, negating most mapping gameplay.
>>
>>12263042
You just don't get it anon, game publishers were in cahoot against rental companies. Game designers purposely inserted bad design into their games so that renters couldn't finish it in one day and they'd be forced to buy more copies. It was a worldwide conspiracy! I hope a youtuber can cover this soon so everyone knows how deep it went!

is the weakest argument one can have against a video game.
Pic very much related because it's hard as a rock, yet quite rewarding for its time on a handheld.
My problem with Battletoads is the controls are floaty and the hit detection is off, so that means it's a broken game, so losing to that doesn't even count. If I could just do what screen seems to be telling me to do like in every other game in existence, I'd play it and maybe even git gud enough to beat it.

>But if you take, for example, a game where the final boss can kill you in one hit, and then kicks you back to the previous level, a 7-minute autoscroller that's obnoxious as fuck to play through, well that's just shitty game design. The boss itself isn't hard, but you have to learn how to kill it, and you can't really do that in an efficient way if it can kill you so easily

Shots fired at Toki, ape down, I repeat ape down.
I guess you're right on Mega Man too, but I find the ones past 2 to be tedious due to the janky weapon/item selection screen that was just fine beforehand.

>I was talking about Ecco actually haha
That game intrigues me, but I always put off playing it. I had it on a SEGA collection for Switch, then they removed it.

I'm not trying to make anyone look like a retard, /vr/ has bias on every side, I just find Nintendo more prevalent on both /vr/ and the internet overall, if you watch YouTube you'll think N64 and Game Cube were a bigger deal than PS1 and PS2, for example, just how SEGA fans can often make the Saturn or Dreamcast seem like it was a bigger deal than they were.

Cope

Isn't it weird how Jigglypuff was shilled a lot back in gen 1 as the Pikachu for girls? It's not even that important in Pokemon Red and Blue, not a single named npc uses one, you can easily miss it, Clefairy a few steps north is a direct upgrade and yet it got a recurring appearance in the anime, got into fucking smash (pretty underserved)

Eevee in contrast has actually become the "Pikachu for girls" without any first installment weridness shilling necessary, just by pure merit of its design.
