it was cool for a moment before it got run over by tumblr.
>>
>>97197850
No, it's baseline is shit. The entire "we're going to have big lists of monsters and weird shit we're going to categorize in a weird, aloof, idiots-idea-of-smart science man voice," was bad and has only gotten worse, and the fact that it's infected horror fandom on the Internet at large is a fuckin' travesty. The wikipediafication of horror (and, really, everything) is terrible.
>>
>>97197850
it was dead before then with the donut steel mary sue recurring characters that showed up in several dozen stories. It was always cringe shit.
>>

The idea is cool. Makes a good distance from the usual subjectiviness of horror and the style.
>>
>>97197866
I realize a lot of it was trash but it was still a neat collaborative creative writing project. I remember it fondly simply because I’d never seen anything like it before.

Of course cliqueing was inevitable and once the mods started gutting legacy articles and putting a stranglehold on what you were and weren’t allowed to write about it was fucked.

I have a strange aversion to the term Steampunk, because of the pip-pip-cherio cogfop thing. When I do it, I incorporate a lot of gothic fantasy horror stuff.

No I'm talking about them treating it like a haunted house. They haven't actually practiced what they've been saying for years, that they can flicker the lights, make rooms lead to puzzles in order to escape, do a screamer when it's really quiet and dull for too long. None of that has happened at all yet? No one's told stories about getting trolled on the service side simulator?

He tried defending the one group who fucked with their DM so hard that the dm made an autistic list of rules that had shit like, "do not break my books". He said rules like those on the list were bad.

Besides that, he is generally known to be an obnoxious fag with a huge ego when anyone meets him in real life. I think there was also something about how he stole content or ideas from other, smaller creators.

yes, nurgle has way more mounts
slaanesh has three types of steeds
khorne has the bloodthrone as well, and in terms of little guys little demonettes used to be a thing as familiars while khornates have been portrayed accompanied by winged skulls with chains, if you want to count them
and also khornogors would go in beasts

but then again you're probably counting only what's currently being sold, so you'd have to add the throne, one other steed or slaanesh, and the maggot beast for nurgle

Basically having an extra free move that deals damage in your enemy’s movement phase is insane. You watch as you can’t chase down the reinforced chariots grabbing your objectives or get move blocked by them.

This is kind of like my "halfling" team that I made out of those Clod STL's floating around on cults/thingiverse.
The fluff is that the halfling mage/druid who is coach summons up a team from the very pitch they are playing on before a match.
In reality it was a way to get myself a stunty from print to tabletop paint in under 6 hours, prime black, drybrush up from dark brown to light brown and then quickly slap a number on the back of each one.

I mean, my first question was "are they loyal," because they look like Chaos cultists. But instead of answering that you vaguely gestured to them being... homeless?

In your imagination are those literally pieces of Imperial Guard equipment that found their way onto the black market? Or are they supposed to be generic substitutes?

If generic, they wouldn't have aquilas. None of the house gangs have aquilas. The Hive Scum don't have aquilas. GSC models don't have aquilas. Kal Jericho doesn't have aquilas. Civilian/private weapon manufacturers do not use the aquila as decoration, but whether that is down to custom or an actual part of the lex I don't know.

If they ARE stolen Imperial Guard pieces then there's still a good reason to take that stuff off (much like you might file identifying details/numbers off of weapons stolen from state militaries before mongering them). But there are also multiple sources that have shown Guardsmen pilfering/retaining their weapons after service, so heirloom versions with the decorations intact could still be a thing, in smaller numbers.

The bottom line is that having them on the weapons is a choice that needs more explanation than having them off the weapons. If your headcanon is that they're devout homeless fellows it will suffice.

Me and 2 other players considered taking the joint operation directive once since all our PCs had ties to Arbites, but the rest of the cell wasn't interested and honestly majority of useful things the directive offered us we already had access to from our regular advancements

Squad Modes are a completely different thing though, they were pretty much essential to every DW game I've ever played aside for 1 or 2 one-shots and I feel that unlike cell directives, which are a completely optional extra rule, squad modes really are a key component of the game. They add a lot, both in terms of flavour and mechanical depth
>>
>>97188825
I think one way to represent their desperate weakness might be to have them be all business and basically no pleasure. They need all the slaves they can get, they need all the Kabalites they can keep alive, so they don't fuck around, if opposition shows up they just fuck off while leaving some strung up corpses with completely regular bombs inside them behind just for good measure. Hell, maybe repurposing non-Eldar ammunition and weaponry could be one of the undignified tricks they pull - bomb traps armed with human explosives, slaves rigged into some Saw trap contraption forced to operate heavy weapons to cover their retreat, and the Dark Eldar themselves acting like scurrying cowards under the requisite pomp and bluster, not committing to any fight for real

>>97193104
If you want to give them some trouble they can't parry their way out of with a Storm Shield, perhaps some environmental danger than can only be outran but not outfought is in order? Impending orbital bombardment, collapsing Hive-cityscape, something where the enemies are only a potential tarpit to stop them from escaping the Real Damage
>>
>>97195964
>squad modes really are a key component of the game
We barely ever used them, but then again we had way more options than normal.
>>
>>97188825
There's aspects of DE you can play up to make them pathetic. As another anon said make them all business. Get in, get the goods, get out, more of a hiest than a military strike. These aren't soldiers; these are raiders, pirates, and criminals. It's a predatory mindset that favors the easy route; they're not looking for a fight, they're looking for victims. Anyone who resists is made an example of to keep their prey afraid, losing one guy to keep the rest in line is preferable to a scuffle and keeps them in control. They might put up an appearance of ferocity, but it's a bluff. The cruelty is not, that's very real. There's no tactic too dirty. Leaving wounded as sniper bait, placing human explosives under corpses, mimicking cries for help (or forcing them from captives), releasing prisoners just to track them home (Judas wolves), using human weapons to hide their presence, chemical warfare, list goes on. Any tactic usually used in desperation should be their bread and butter, thier go-to solution, the easy way out.
I have a DE army and in my fluff the archon is a cowardly business man. He's constantly in realspace trying to make himself too useful to get rid of and he feels he's safer there than the dark city. He's not here to break bastions and chase glory, but to steal sheep while the shepards sleep.
>>
>>97194122
Roleplaying is not a "get stuff free" condition.
