That his point is that this is not, in fact, democracy manifest? And so when you say "this is bureaucracy manifest" you're implying that the rules are in fact simple and straightforward?I only feel like I need to ask because in the past you've often shown a remarkable inability to understand indirect communication, implications etcetera.

But the main issue I can see is needing to continuously work a pole while trying to hit the afterburner. It needs to fire when I want it to, not 30 seconds after. Maybe some non-emergency functions or when it's on autopilot, that might be a more responsible way to stay in shape.I think once you start describing how your setup is built for sex is stops being a tabletop game and becomes more of a game where you get topped on the table. There isn't even a game here right now. Do I need to convince everyone to play lancer and show up in costume or something? Maybe they'll do anime sci-i if I provide the snacks and drinks.

In a previous thread I asked if the style strikes (like sweep leg) from unchained monk that granted free maneuvers (but without bonuses) were worth it and people told me yes because free attempt...after trying for a while, provoking AoO, getting damaged so more penalty to the attempt, and failing... I wonder if people were trolling. Haven't managed even once to accomplish a maneuver using styles
>>98026683Last thread? Is there a language barrier at play here because people told you it wouldn't be very good. And the style strikes (yes, Leg Sweep too) specifically tells you that they don't provoke AoO.
2eOne of my players wants to dual-wield two of the same weapon. But the system itself doesn't really support that. Would it be overkill to give the weapons Twin and another damage type?
>>98027205>But the system itself doesn't really support that. What do you mean?>Would it be overkill to give the weapons Twin and another damage type?Regardless of the above question, this won't significantly harm balance. A boost to a playstyle that might(?) need it but it's worse than +1 die size and I wouldn't consider +1 die size to be gamebreaking at all.
>>98027402I meant that while you can dual-wield two daggers or whatever, there is no real point. It's just unnecessarily nerfing yourself over wielding two weapons with minimal trait overlap.
Tell me why you love Old School Revival/Renaissance/Resurrection/Rewind/Return/Remix/Retribution/Redeployment/Riff/RelaxDontDoIt games. That's including all D&Ds before 3e and any games based off of them. And if you actually hate them, lets talk things out. There's more to the OSR than just licking Gygax's corpse to try and get some salt out of it. Maybe it's just there's not an OSR game for you, but even so I think there's some good wisdom that can be found in the OSR, an exploration of where games came from that can help where they're going.>TQ>What's the worst puzzle/trap you've ever seen, and why is it almost certainly from the Tomb of Horrors?
>>98027000The funny thing is Gygax really wanted it to be a uniform game, he just completely failed at making it one. This was particularly noticeable during tournaments, which Gygax thought were going to always be a really big deal for D&D, like how tournaments were a big deal for war games. But, even with trained DMs, and a further team of judges acting as final interpreters, there still was too much variance and tournaments never became more than a curiosity at conventions.
>>98027134 It often feels to me that he didn't actually understand his own game often enough. He made a thing, and he thought it would be used one way And folks used it differently then he intended

I am a noob who has only ever played Succession Wars era. Am aware of Clan Invasion concept thru videogames but after that I got no clue. Met someone who wants to play IlClan era. What are the most important things I should know in going all the way from 3025 to 3151
>>98027272Everything feels a lot more fragile when everything is running around with double heat sinks and pulse lasers. Light mechs kind of suck because of this.A SW awesome is almost heat neutral with three PPCs, a hellstar is heat neutral with four ERPPCs.

>>98027330Aw man. But light mechs are so fun...Sounds like you just kill each other at range without even having to get close? Is maneuvering still a big deal?
>>98027362Maneuvering is still important and the proliferation of XL and light engines means mechs are generally faster but the higher average speed does not fully counteract the higher average damage output.

Any anons funded COMAO? Thought about it for a bit, might fill the niche of not being overly autistic games like Red Storm and being a 2-player game (unlike the leader series) about duking it out in a modern-day battlefield, but in the end I hate kickstarters. Anyone maybe has similar suggestions to that?

>>98027346I didn't much care for Summoner Wars tbqh, but I was really underwhelmed with Blue moon legends. Suprisingly so. I can see how it wants you to play the same matchup a lot to become competent with a single faction, but I did not enjoy the way there. Seems like you'd need to play the same matchup at least 10x against the same person before you even begin to play the game as intended. I can get to the point way quicker. So summoner wars it is I guess

>>98008565>If you aren't discussing a specific game, your post isn't on topic. Pretty straightforward.Uh, yes it is? This "only talking about SPECIFIC TTRPGs counts" thing is literally something you just made up. It's called /traditional game/. If somebody asks what are the best hacking rules that's not a specific TTRPG; same if they ask what people do with their elves, or their magic, or their robots. It's all traditional games related, and therefore on topic.
>>98018645>Did the Warp exist in 1945 USSR? Did it? Did the soviet soldiers raping German women en masse fall to chaos and cause daemon incursion into our reality?Well, in the Warhammer 40k universe, yes, the Warp always existed. It's not actually waiting for five people to commit a crime at which point it instantly eats the planet, that's why you can have forgotten planets where the locals are all a bunch of pagan weirdos and nothing in particular happens to them, why the Tau can control an interstellar despite halfway not believing in Warp demons, etc.

The people who wrote the biggest, longest running quests fucked off a decade ago.

I think the heyday of crunchy games was probably in the 00s, but there's more than rules-lite narrative games being made today - and, of course, not all narrative games are rules-lite.

>>98024392>Sounds fun as Hell,It is. The DM is the GOAT too.>I love incorporating gods/deities in My games too, both with My characters and as a GM. I feel like it adds a lot.The gods and their death are specially relevant in this setting. For one, they sacrificed themselves to seal this cosmic force in the setting's main planet and transport all life from that planet into a new celestial body (the seventh moon).Their bodies fell onto this new moon, creating a supernatural desert that's basically radioactive, and their "bones" (maybe literal, maybe not) became this material that some use to make not-magic items that are wholly incompatible with regular magic. Also, some mortals started manifesting a "divine spark, with some of these spark havers claiming that they can ascend to godhood. There are lots of in world interpretations of all of this too, which is dope. My character for example is a sort of maverick that goes against the grain and doesn't believe that the gods are dead, just shattered and and maybe in a sort of semi-stupor for reasons. The Cleric my character was sent to retrieve (the party was carrying his head) is a spark holder, and so are some of our party members. In gameplay terms, instead of having Action Points, they can perform a literal miracle once.
